I have to say, I love my Faerie Porn. These books aren't good books, we're not talking high literature here. But I enjoy the characters, I enjoy the settings and the sex is good.

I think what I really enjoy is that it's rare to find erotica (especially multiple-partner erotica) that puts the woman in a position of power. Not only is Merry in power over her men, she feels a responsibility for them equal to her elevated status. Oh, there's plenty of using going on. Sex for magic, s More...

The first several novels in the Anita Blake series are great. Funny, scary, a touch gory and a touch sexy. As you read each book, you can really see the character development as Anita becomes more sure of herself and more comfortable with the "monsters". However, some the later books have deteriorated into little more than soft porn for women. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

However, I feel it cheapens the series, which features a great role model in Anita as a w More...

I started this series a while back and haven’t had the time to continue it. Finally started book 3, Seduced by Moonlight, and it was really good. We get to meet more hot fairy men and Merry shows us she truly deserves to be princess.

Seduced by Moonlight takes place a little after A Caress of Twilight, Merry is with her guards/lovers and is trying to stay out of More...

Oh God, every time I read one of these I want to hit myself for the first chapter or three. "Why, Colleen? *smack* Why are you spending time on trashy supernatural romance? It's not even that well-written! *smack* There's no real thought to plot pacing... They just paused during sex to have 5 pages of exposition, and they just paused in their murder investigation to have four chapters of sex!" *smacksmack SMACK*

And then I succeed in turning my brain off and drink in a guilty More...

I liked this one better than the previous two, although I'm still trying to figure out why. It had all the elements that annoy me; overused phrases, CRAWLING pace, detailed page long summaries of what anyone is wearing. (One bit in particular made me laugh: "The first thing I noticed about him was his coat, not usually the first thing I noticed about the guards of the sidhe." BWAHAHAHAHA. Oh come on now.) And of course Merry is still the Mary-Sue perfect-not-that-she'll-ever-admit-it c More...

Meredith Gentry #3: Seduced by Moonlight, by Laurell K. Hamilton

I'm having a difficult time writing something about this book, and I read it only two days ago. To me, "Seduced by Moonlight" is just kinda there. The book seems like a bridge between the previous two in the series and the upcoming installments - it doesn't really feel like a whole lot happens.

However, some important events did happen. Merry extended her alliance with the goblins through some unique More...

Seduced by Moonlight begins shortly after the events of A Caress of Twilight. Kurag, Goblin King, is insisting upon proof that Kitto has become sidhe following sex with Merry. She offers an extra month of their alliance for every goblin hybrid she can bring into sidhe magic. During the discussions, Siun, Kitto's nightmarish, spidery former mistress and Rhys’ worst memory of his experience at the Goblin court appears. It is revealed that Rhys swore blood price on her, because it was Siun that More...

Still entertaining, but the series is beginning to suffer from writing that is okay but not great. Hamilton has odd pacing, and perhaps an odd sense of the passage of time as conversations unfold. She keeps us constantly dialed in for what seems to be about 12 hours of of nearly straight action (or sometimes semi-action that you wonder if it's really that important to witness), then suddenly jumps forward, glossing over a few hours that do seem like they might have been important. I also have More...

Same problem here as with the Anita Blake novels. The story is okay but the sex interferes and the heroine gets a new power with every boffing. Tedious. Would be more enjoyable if the sex was kept to a minimum and the heroine had some faults and some limitations to her powers. I like characters that win because they overcome their limitations not just develop a new skill just in time to save the day. It's a cop out. Hamilton lacks imagination.

This book sucked! As much as I love Laurel K Hamilton's Anita Blake vampire hunter novels, that's how much i hated this book. "Seduced by Moonlight" made absolutely no sense. There are tons of "cultures" like goblins, seede, fearie, something else, something else, all with tons of rules btween each other - too many to follow. There were random characters that entered the book in a scene and died right away, that totally didn't belong, didn't add to the scene, and literally fe More...

Give me the Cliff Notes please...I know there has to be a plot.

This was like reading a soap opera/porn movie. From the beginning of the book to the end the writer takes you a little farther in time (3 days?) and repeats herself multiple times. I have read books that the plot plays out in a short amount of time, but Ms. Hamilton was writing minute by minute. The first half of the book consisted all of day one and that was too much. Also, who needs so much repeating? The plot woul More...

Well! I really hadn't planned to read this one. Book 2 in this series was so tiresome I felt I was done with Merry and the rest. I started Storm Front by Butcher, then Lothaire came out and I dropped both to catch up on Immortals After Dark.

So! Finished Lothaire (loved it!). Returned to Storm Front Friday at lunch. Got home Friday night and realized I'd LEFT STORM FRONT AT WORK! Oh, woe was me. Really, serious woe. I made a stack of my "on deck" books. I wanted to t More...

This book brings the mystery, suspence, back-stabbing politics and of course magic from the two previous books and makes a completely new story. We have Meredith once again sleeping with her guards in the hope to get pregnant but with an added twist to it this time! Also we have her returning to the Unseelie court which brings the reader plenty of information on court politics and the Queen herself!. The first half of the book is filled with new and regained powerful magic for Merry and her men More...

Yeesh. Thank god that's over.

Plenty of blood, sex and magic. We're just missing the sugar. But it was mostly blood. People talk a lot about how much sex there is in these books, but I really think there's more blood than anything.
And court politics, which if that's you're thing then this series is probably a wet dream, but I find it tedious and exhausting. Or maybe it's just the way Hamilton writes it, as though both her characters and her readers are kind of dense and everyth More...

Book 3 in the Merry Gentry series.

These books are slowly starting to grow on me, but not of a quality or cleverness to make me want to read the series again. They are good though for a once-off trashy read :-)

In this book, I finally started to get my head around all of Merry's beaus (for those not familiar with the storyline, for Merry to become heir to the Unseelie throne she needs to get pregnant and to do that she needs to basically have sex with anyone....and anythin More...

Ch~ch~ch~changes....so many changes in this book and so much going on but I loved it. You would think that you would get sick of Merry adding more men but you don't...well, I didn't. LKH makes them all so interesting and even the guards that have been there from the beginning are not boring due to getting to know them better and then all the changes.

Of course, people are still trying to kill Merry so between that and all the changes, it is not boring! There is still the ongoing " More...

I liked that in this, the main character Merry is growing into a better leader. She understands what she needs to do and is taking steps to keep herself in power. I'm starting to really not like all the whining that her boys are doing (but they're gorgeous, so it's forgivable for now). I love the power she is coming into!

Well I'm sad to say that the pace in this book compared to the previous ones in the series becomes as fast as paint drying on the wall.
Important stuff happens but about half the book covers only a few days and nights and it merely shows characters dealing with one problem or another and of course there is always some form of sex involved in the solution.
The only real action and drama occurs right near the end where Merry has a show down with Andias over her brutality with her Ravens More...

I gave this one 3 stars because there was too much minutiae and not enough action. I found myself skimming some of the narrative to get to the good parts. I still really like this series and hope it picks back up in the next book.

Being an Unseelie Fairy princess isn’t all that bad when you live in LA with your handsome Guard but when Meredith is called to return to the Unseelie Court she is not the happiest of princesses. Before even leaving LA her magical power is growing and she is able to return lost power to members of her Guard. The moment she steps of the plane her life is threatened and she is in more danger returning home then she ever was before. Is it her cousin’s influence, the Queens or some unknown power?

It took me 3 weeks to read this book. It just didn't catch my attention like the first two did. I have read her Anita Blake Series and I think she writes good starter books. Ones that start a series. And that's about it. after the first few, she rambles. She repeats things over and over. And the sex. Ugh. It get's so annoying. There's no reason for it to happen it just does. Its like she ran out of things to write about so she fills the awkward silence with sex. This book was so boring to me th More...

The third book in the Meredith Gentry series, has Meredith making deals with the goblins and the demi -faye. She's still trying to become heir to the throne , but has yet to become pregnant. There's lots of interesting things that happen to "Merry" in this book. She obtains power and is able to give or bring back many of the "Queens former Ravens" powers. The Queen went crazy in this book and I was really hoping she would finally be disposed of but she seems to have emerged More...

I'm still on the fence about this series. If I could have given it a 2.5, I would have. The author has me caring enough about the characters that I will probably read book 4. In addition to the characters, I like the fact that the author has constructed this whole faerie world with fey politics and all sorts of different creatures and a hierarchy. What I don't like is that ALL of this has to be explained, so a simple scene can take pages and pages as the author gives you the background on everyt More...

Ok I really liked reading this book but I can't give it 5 stars because in the end none of the problems were solved. In a nut shell Marry and her "band of marry men" we faced with many problems and throughout the book their to-do list kept growing, but they kept getting sidetracked and that really bothered me because i kept on reading to see at lest some of the problems get resolved but No! the book ends with with her thinking "omg I have only 2 days to complete everything".. The Merry Gentry series is pretty middling, though I gotta say this one was a lot better than A Caress of Twilight. They're fine for what they are, which is vaguely well-written erotica, with some plot thrown in for good measure. And it's pretty good plot, more or less. It's sort of transparent - the whole series is basically A Quest To Impregnate Merry With As Much Detail As Possible, and all of the men have the same physical build, so that's also sort of transparent... Whatever. It's good for More...

Porn with a vestige of plot. Seriously. Granted, at least the Merry Gentry books started right out the gate this way, so it's not a surprise. It's just the excessive amount of it that gets tiresome, like Laurell is desperate to prove how edgy and alternative and darkity dark wank wank wank she is after a while.

This is also the book with the laughably edited first edition hardcover, where enterprising owners can find, on page 198, the "Insert" note that managed to make pri More...

I was on the back of a motorcycle when listening to most of this audiobook. With the headphones firmly inside my helmet and the ipod trapped inside my jacket, I was at the mercy of the author's long winded descriptions of hair color, eye color, sexual acts, and bloodshed.

I liked the first book of the series, the second was good, but not as good as the first, and this third installment just wasn't that great. I think the book only served to give the major players more power (all got More...

1/5 stars.

I wish there was a way we could review a book without rating it, because it isn't fair of me to give this book a one star.

But I am, because I have to. This was my fault. This is the first Laurell K. Hamilton book I've ever read. Maybe I should've researched her first. This isn't my kind of book. Not at all. I saw a review after I'd already started reading it where someone referred to is as fairy porn. And that's exactly what it is. So if that's what you're into then More...
