So, I was at my bondage master's condo last night when I made some obscure reference to Madonna and he said, "I have the Madonna book," and then I was all like:
"Mr. Peabody's Apples?"
no
"The English Roses?"
no
"Lotsa De Casha?"
Oh yeah. In the early 1990s (when I was in junior high), Madonna did the Sex book. First of all, you have to be really careful turning pages because of the spiral binding. Second of all, there are a bunch of l...more

This book came to bookstores wrapped in cellophane so you couldn't look at it before paying $50 to buy it. But I didn't care. I was already on the list and had pre-paid to get it when it first came out. After two flip-throughs, the metal binding was tangled and frustrating - much like the book. But I forgive myself now because I loved Madonna then.

Far too tame for all the hype. OMG, and her little ramblings will make you cringe, they're so bad. But there are some pics that show Madonna's weird sense of humor (like the basketball court shots with the two skinheads, and Vanilla Ice...WTF?). She's best when she's goofy.

some of the photos are pretentious and ugly in an early-'90s-MTV kinda way, but the text is a real hoot. "The difference between abuse and S&M is the issue of responsibility." Thanks Madge! I also like the implausible shoes donned frequently in these pages.

This book taught me and my friend that we'd both love to sleep with Madonna. A surprise, perhaps, for him, because he's so staunchly gay. A surprise, definitely, for me, because I was, up until that point, hetero-identified. Not anymore! Thanks, Madge!

Madonna's attempt at shocking the world with her SEX book years ago really wasn't that great of a book. I mean, I've seen better "arty-sex" in museums.

I own this-someone was throwing it out of our book sale at the library I worked at and I saved it. Vanilla Ice isn't bad, lol...

I appreciate Madonna through the lens of Nietzsche's ubermensch.
