"Göttin der Liebe" ist der erste Band der "Mythica"-Reihe von P.C. Cast.
Spannung im klassischen Sinne ist hier zwar nicht vorhanden, dafür aber viel Spaß und Leidenschaft.
Die Autorin hat die Thematik der Mythen und Legenden über die Götter in eine abwechslungsreiche und tolle Geschichte verwoben und dabei einen interessanten Bezug zur Realität hergestellt.
In "Göttin der Liebe" liegt der Fokus auf der Liebe, sodass hier eine ordentliche Portion Romantik und Erotik zu finden ist. Dabei werden diese Aspekte gut in die Handlung mit eingewoben und schaffe eine unterhaltsame Lektüre über starke Frauen.
Durch überraschende Wendungen erhält "Göttin der Liebe" ihre ganz eigene Art der Spannung und kann auch ohne viel Schnickschnack überzeugen.
Das Happy End am Schluss lässt den Leser zufriedengestellt zurück.

"Göttin der Liebe" wird aus verschiedenen Sichtweisen erzählt. Aus männlicher Sicht ist dort zum Einen Griffin, der Feuerwehrmann mit der Liebe zur Bildhauerei und zum Anderen Vulcanos, der Gott des Feuers, der die ein oder andere neue Facette an sich entdeckt.
Auf der weiblichen Seite findet man Pea, aus der nach und nach eine selbstbewusste Frau wird, die sich zu schätzen weiß. Und natürlich ist dort Venus, die toughe Göttin, die gerne flucht und im Laufe der Handlung zur Selbsterkenntnis gelangt.
Sie alle wurden toll skizziert, vorallem die Eigenschaften der Götter wurden auf eine neue Art und Weise herausgearbeitet.

Wer Bücher von P.C. Cast kennt weiß, dass sich ihr Schreibstil durch viel Witz auszeichnet. Dabei schreibt sie aber stets flüssig und fesselnd. Sie beherrscht das Schreiben ebenso spannender, wie abwechslungsreicher Geschichten und kann auch mit dem Auftakt zur "Mythica"- Reihe überzeugen.(less)

Inhalt: Die unscheinbare Pea bittet Venus um Hilfe, damit sie endlich von Griffin bemerkt wird, in den sie schon lange verliebt ist, der sich aber nicht mal an ihren Namen erinnert. Unerwartet kommt Venus wirklich auf die Erde, um Pea zu helfen. Von ihrer Kleidung bis zu ihrer Einstellung verändert sie alles an Pea – doch dann verliebt sich auch die Liebesgöttin selbst in Griffin – obwohl es doch ihre Aufgabe ist, ihn und Pea zusammen zu bringen!

Meinung:
Eigentlich weiß ich gar nicht, was ich schreiben soll.
Das Buch hat mir sehr gut gefallen, ich kann es aber irgendwie nicht richtig begründen.

Die Autorin hat einen lockeren und etwas frechen Schreibstil, der mir schon bei der „House of Night“ – Reihe aufgefallen ist, dort aber ziemlich gewollt wirkte.
Hier scheint P.C. Cast nicht so gewollt jugendlich zu schreiben, sondern eher wie sie selbst.
Das Buch ist witzig, aber – bitte schlagt mich nicht, wenn ich jetzt schon zum 3. Mal „gewollt“ sage – scheint mir an manchen Stellen wirklich etwas zu gewollt zu sein. ;-)
(Ich glaube das ist die schlechteste Rezension, die ich je geschrieben habe. :D)
Wenn eine Göttin Sachen wie „Bei Hermes‘ schwulem Arschhut“ (Alternativ einfach beliebige Götternamen und Genitalien einsetzen) als Kraftausdrücke verwendet, erscheint es wirklich nicht mehr sehr natürlich.

Der vollständige Titel von Venus lautet „Venus, die Göttin der sinnlichen Liebe, der Schönheit und der erotischen Künste“. Daran erkennt man schon, dass es in diesem Buch einige Sex-Szenen gibt und über dieses Thema viel geredet wird, weshalb ich es niemandem empfehlen würde, der jünger als 15/16 Jahre alt ist.
Allen anderen aber schon!
Wie gesagt habe ich keine richtigen Argumente, aber das Buch ist witzig, locker und irgendwie frech und perfekt, um sich bei schönem Wetter in den Garten oder auf den Balkon zu setzen, oder einfach drinnen zu bleiben, um sich von schlechtem Wetter abzulenken.

Die Charaktere (sowohl Venus als auch Pea) sind liebenswert und witzig.

Ich hatte nicht erwartet, dass mir das Buch so gut gefallen würde, aber wie ich schon vorher mal erwähnt hatte, interessiert mich die griechische Mythologie immer mehr. :-)

Fazit:
Ein witziges und freches Buch für zwischendurch, aber trotzdem fesselnd genug, um es am Stück durchlesen zu wollen.(less)

The story of the Goddess was wonderfulyl well expressed in a mythical but engaging way, in a sense that just makes you go wow and aghh. What I didn't like about the book was that the author made it clear that the mortal would never be accepted by men if she ran around with baggy clothes and frizzy hair. In that sense she almost seems to make it clear that looks are important when it comes down to relationships.

Yet I suppose this all depends on the frame of mind that you have when you read the book for the God clearly proves that looks are not everything, its about feeling a connection. I suppose I am often put of by the thought of love stories, because they just make you desire it even more and yearn to have that own special someone. But the book was well written if perhaps a little adventurous and simplistic. The characters are painted clearly in your mind and you do find yourself want to find out what occurs. I do admit that it is different to the other books that occur, but I would also like to admit that perhaps the forever happy endings are becoming tiresome. In that I wish to see an ending where perhaps the goddesses or mortals do not fall in love, perhaps something bad happens that prevents them from living that happy ever after.

The book is good though in its own sort of way. I did find myself just desiring a difference for a lot of her stories seem to be samish, but she is also one of my favorite authors and each book seems to hold its own sort of unique message and moral within its words. It always seems ready and willing to teach the readers something new. a wonderful read. Just not something that I would perhaps read again.(less)

I absolutly adored this story! I don't know how to exactly describe it. But I loved Pea, her honesty, her obvious kindness, she seemed so real because of her imperfection.
The storyline was interesting, and so touching somehow, yes of course it is kind of superficial, that one must change ones appearance, but the way it is described.. Venus, Goddess of Love, is bored with her life and her marriage. She agrees to accompany fellow goddess, Persephone to Tulsa to see how the locals live in the 21st century. They shop, do lunch, and witness Pea’s humiliation in front of a dozen handsome firefighters, including Griffin.

Using an incantation that Hera provided, Pea summons Venus’ help, but at first she doesn’t believe the goddess is who she said she is. Still Venus does promise her that she will give Pea the skill set to get her man. Unfortunately, Venus falls for Griffin, and who can resist the Goddess of Love?

I really liked the Goddess of Light, but this isn’t even close. This is the head cheerleader stealing the guy you had a crush on for forever. Pea easily forgives her. After all, she takes up with Venus’ husband. There is a rushed feeling about this story. I would say it doesn’t work. I skipped several pages to get past the Venus love story. I didn’t care about Venus having a love story. It honked me off that she would steal Pea’s crush after agreeing to help her. Hadn’t she had like a zillion affairs, but she had to have one more. Then there Pea’s dialogue for a smart woman you’d think she could say something other than “more” or “closer” throughout the sensual scenes. It was one step removed from “Oh my God.”

Goddess of Love was a severe disappointment, considering P.C. Cast’s previous work. I would not recommend this book. Do you think you could possibly feel for the head cheerleader who has worked her way through every spectacular man on the planet, but now she has to have the one you like? That’s what I thought. Move on to a more likable P.C. Cast book such as the amazing House of Night.

Hepsinin aşktan beklentisi ayrı ayrıdır..Vulcanus için durum tam bir dramdır..Venüs ile evlendikten sonra Olimpos Dağında dışlanmış kenara itilmiştir..Ayagındaki sakatlık yüzünde de kenara itilmiştir.Gördüğü Pae'den çok etkilenir..Dayanamayıp onunla tanışır..Tanıştıktan sonra isi birbirleri ile olan ilişkileri daha da gelişir..İki tarafta bunu planlamamıştır..Ve artık patlayacak olayları kimse engelleyemez..
Çok keyifli bir kitapdı ama benim serinin tam da 5. kitabından okumam nedeniyle olaylara hep uzaktan baktğımı hissetsem de bu kitabı Fantastik,mitolojik kahramanlardan hoşlananlar için tavsiye ederim...Keyifli okumalar...

This was another great novel in Cast's Goddess Summoning series. I don't usually enjoy romance novels that combine two or more love stories. This is my least favorite of the Goddess Summoning series through #5 when I was hoping I would like it the most! I love books where the protagonist is an underdog who basically has her dreams come true and that's what I wanted for this book and that is, indeed, what happened. My problem with this book is that the supposed protagonist is NOT the main character. when i started reading the book i though hmm its really interesting then as i continued i started disliking it. first when venus and pea go into the club and venus basically has sex with griffin(peas love interest) i just wanted to strangle her.then when i read about vulcan (venus husband!!!) being shunned out for having 1! just 1!! inperfection i was mad!! at then end of the story when vulcan and griffin have to exchange souls i was partially okay with it but making him unable to walk was just...more

Warning...Venus is so hilarious in this book with her use of colorful curses involving the god's genitalia...that you will laugh so hard you cry, or spit your drink out all over the pages. So don't have a beverage while reading this book!

So I don't have a lot of time to write a review at the moment, but I figured I still have a few people following my Goodreads and wanted to send out a quick recommendation while I had a minute or two. Just because I haven't had time to review, doesn't mean I'm not reading, it would be like not breathing. Anyway, I've been reading this series by P.C. Cast and while I've enjoyed the other books in the series, this one is by far my favorite. Not only does it feature Olympians mixing in modern day O...more So I don't have a lot of time to write a review at the moment, but I figured I still have a few people following my Goodreads and wanted to send out a quick recommendation while I had a minute or two. Just because I haven't had time to review, doesn't mean I'm not reading, it would be like not breathing. Anyway, I've been reading this series by P.C. Cast and while I've enjoyed the other books in the series, this one is by far my favorite. Not only does it feature Olympians mixing in modern day Oklahoma, it offers a dual love story where two couples overcome what seems like impossible odds. One of the two leading females is a shy awkward woman, wounded by childhood hurt who with Venus's help finally comes into her own. And even better than all the magical lovey dovey romance goodness, the book is laugh out loud funny. It's one of those book you read without realizing time has passed because you are laughing so hard from cover to cover you couldn't walk away if you tried. For Pea, our human female lead has a dog who's so in love with her cat that the dog believes she is a cat. When we are introduced to her it's because her dog has climbed a tree and gotten stuck there. But a better example of the humor in this book might be the restaurant scene where Venus and Persephone have just finished shopping and Venus bought a giant vibrator because it was named after her. If Venus and her inappropriate questions and comments weren't enough to have you laughing out loud, which trust me they are, at the back of the restaurant is poor awkward Pea. Pea's crush, a sexy firefighter named Griffin is also in the restaurant. When the waitress asks Pea if they'll be anything else, when she tries to answer she lets out a belch so loud the whole restaurant looks at her. She hides in the bathroom where Venus follows her and thinking Pea needs to masturbate more gives her the little bag with the new vibrator in it. Pea thinks she's not only drunk but crazy though she does takes the gift, however when she sets down the bag to pay the vibrator rolls out onto none other than Griffin's feet buzzing away. And while this quick description of Pea's absolutely hilarious mortification might make you chuckle, it's definitely not repeated with the talented and eloquent description that Cast is famous for. If you like funny romances filled with magic this isn't a book to be missed.

Someday when I have more time I'll write a better thought-out review of this book, but for the moment, I just wanted to share and hope that someone else could find a little laughter and happiness reading this excellent story.(less)

Leute, ich war ja erst skeptisch als ich von dem Buch gehört habe. Die Hauptcharaktere sind ja meines Erachtens Asbach, aber ich habe es nicht bereut. P.C. Cast hat es echt drauf Geschichten zu schreiben :) Einmal in die Hand genommen, fällt es einem sehr schwer das Buch wieder hin zu legen. Warum? Das Buch wurde mit sehr viel Liebe und Witz geschrieben, man merkt der Autorin richtig an, das diese Serie ihr Liebling ist.
Auch ihre Erotik Passagen sind sehr gut in die Story eingebaut. Was mich ein wenig gestört hat, ist das die Göttinnen alle so... wie soll ich es sagen.. verblödet sind... Also wenn es in Puncto unsere "Zeit" angeht. Also die wussten ja gar nicht mit den technischen Schnickschnack umzugehen aber Venus erzählt immer wie se in der früheren Zeit "Liebe" verbreitet hat... Hat sie irgendwann mal aufgehört mit ihrem Job oder was? Und es hat mal wieder in Tulsa gespielt. Ok, das war nicht ganz so schlecht aber spielen alle ihre Romane in Tulsa?

Ich habe Venus und Pea sehr ins Herz geschlossen. Beide sind echt sehr, sehr schnuffig. Selbstbewusstsein macht aus uns allen eine Göttin!! Also lasst sie raus =3

Fazit:
Göttin der Liebe ist ein sehr schöner Auftakt in die Mythica Serie. Man merkt auch, das es ein Göttin Crossover gibt. Ich liebe ja Crossover und Persephone gehört zu einer meiner Lieblingsgöttinnen...
Jeder der die House of Night Bücher mochte und ein Hauch mehr Erotik und Erwachsene möchte, dem kann ich das Buch empfehlen. P.C. Cast schreibt nicht hochgestochen und dadurch fühlt man sich wohl, so sehr in die Personen ( in dem Fall Pea) hineinversetzt, das man Buch einfach nicht aus der Hand legen kann weil man wissen will, wie es weiter geht.
Das Ende ist mehr oder weniger vorhersehbar aber dann auch wieder nicht. Ich fand es sehr schön das Ende. Was Mann nicht alles für die Liebe tut ;)

This kind of disappointed me in several ways but I really liked it in some ways.

1. how is EVERYTHING supposed to work out so perfectly?!? Well i guess i should be glad, since I was super sad at the bittersweet ending in Goddess of Light :-/ meh...

But the ending somehow bothered me, it reminded me of The Host by Stephenie Meyer 8l (now I feel like re-reading it to compare.)

Am Anfang hatte ich wirklich so meine Probleme mit dem Buch.
An den Schreibstil musste ich mich erstmal gewöhnen. Ein bisschen kam ich mir ins HoN zurück versetzt, die ich ja abgebrochen habe, weil mir unter anderem der Schreibstil überhaupt gefiel.

Das alles hat sich dann aber zum Glück in Wohlgefallen aufgelöst. Der Eintritt von Vulkanus in die Handlung hat für mich schon einiges besser gemacht, weil ich zu unserem etwas unvollkommenem Gott direkt einen Draht herstellen konnte. Aber auch Venus und Pea wurden mir im Laufe der Zeit immer symphatischer. P.C. Cast versteht sich zum Glück ganz ausgezeichnet auf Charakterentwicklung. Sonst hätte ich das Buch wahrscheinlich auch nicht durchgestanden, was wirklich mehr als schade gewesen wäre.
Glücklicherweise gab es dann auch den ein oder anderen total unerwarteten Moment ;-) Zusammen mit dem typischen P.C. Cast Humor kann man "Göttin der Liebe" durchaus als erotische Komödie, oder fantastische Chic-Lit bezeichnen, womit ich einfach nicht so ganz gerechnet hatte.
Venus und Co. sorgen für stellenweise lustige und peinliche Momente, die ein bisschen mädchenhaftes Kichern garantieren. Meine Mitfahrer im Zug müssen sich an manchen Stellen sonst was gedacht haben.
Im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen Lesern, hat mich das Ende überrascht - und zwar positiv, aber den Ausgang hätte ich so nicht erwartet. Jedenfalls den Weg dorthin nicht. Die Autorin schenkt den Lesern am Ende noch einen schönen Moment zum Luft anhalten, bevor es dann wieder ans Durchatmen geht.

*Fazit/Wertung*
Im Großen und Ganzen ist "Göttin der Liebe" ein toller Einstieg in die Göttinen-Reihe, aus der ich definitiv mehr lesen werde. Erotik und Humor ganz im Stile von P.C. Cast, mit Göttern die vom Olymp klettern und die Herzen im Sturm erobern. Mir persönlich ging es etwas zu sehr in die Richtung Chic-Lit, womit ich einfach nicht gerechnet hätte.
4/5 Sterne für ein absolut lesenswertes Buch, dass sich perfekt für Zwischendurch eignet. Gekichere und die Röte, die einem ins Gesicht steigt werden mitgeliefert ;-)(less)

So, I love P.C. Cast...but this one just didn't grab me. I've read pretty much all of the Goddess Summoning series and this one isn't one of my favorites. This is a story about Pea (horrible name) who is a mousy, awkward woman that invokes Venus' help to turn her life around. There's a basic Cinderella-type makeover and then romance ensues. P.C. It was a very good read! My favorite among the goddess summoning series so far.
I always think that Zeus and Hera were too busy with their love hate relationship, but this series has made me see them in new light. As a loving Father and Mother more than King and Queen of the Greek Gods. I really love reading about it in this series.

Meine Meinung:
In der deutschen Übersetzung ist "Göttin der Liebe" der erste Teil von P. C. Casts Mythica-Reihe, im Original nimmt der Titel jedoch eine spätere Position ein. Doch zum Glück hatte ich beim Lesen nicht das Gefühl, dass mir Vorwissen aus den anderen Bänden fehlt, auch wenn ich das Ändern der Reihenfolge nicht verstehe.

In ihrem Vorwort beschreibt die Autorin das Buch, wie ich finde sehr treffend, als "erotische Komödie", denn der Titel ist hier wirklich Programm. Anfangs merkt man dies zwar noch nicht unbedingt, doch spätestens ab der Hälfte des Buches gibt es sehr viele erotische Szenen, welche von P. C. Cast schön beschrieben wurden. Auf mich wirkten sie weder billig noch flach, ich habe dabei viel eher die Liebe zwischen den beiden Paaren gespürt.

Erzählt wird das Buch in der Er-/Sie-Perspektive die zwischen den Hauptprotagonisten wechselt. Venus, die Manifestierung der Liebe, fand ich sehr sympathisch und lustig. Da sie den Olymp schon lange nicht mehr verlassen hat, ist vieles neu für sie in der Welt der Sterblichen. Sie ist immer sehr direkt und versteht anfangs nicht so ganz, dass meisten Leute nicht so gerne über die intimen Details in ihrem Liebesleben reden, was für viele lustige Szenen geführt hat. Vor allem bei ihren Flüche über die Genitalien der Götter (beispielsweise "Bei Zeus' baumelnden Hodensäcken") musste ich immer wieder lachen. Pea ist anfangs ziemlich zurückhaltend gegenüber Männern und nicht wirklich von sich überzeugt, entwickelt im Laufe des Buches aber immer mehr Selbstbewusstsein. Griffin war mir am Anfang nicht so wirklich sympathisch, da er auf mich wie ein Mann gewirkt hat, der nur nach dem Äußeren geht. Doch man erhält immer wieder einen Blick hinter seine Fassade, so dass ich ihn doch mögen gelernt habe. Vulcanus tat mir anfangs ziemlich Leid, da er als Gott trotzdem ein Außenseiter auf dem Olymp war. Um so schöner fand ichs, wie er sich in Pea verliebt und sie angebetet hat.

Fazit:
"Mythica - Göttin der Liebe" ist ein Buch mit allem, was Frau für einen netten Abend braucht: Humor, Liebe, Romantik und natürlich heiße Männer. Durch den flüssigen Schreibstil habe ich beim Lesen kaum gemerkt, wie die Seiten dahin geflogen sind. Von mir gibt es 5 von 5 Muscheln für dieses Buch, das mich bestens unterhalten hat.(less)

Die Göttin macht sich nun daran Pea einen Weg zu zeigen, wie sie Selbstvertrauen gewinnen und mehr aus sich machen kann. Dabei verliert nicht nur Pea ihr Herz.
Wird am Ende sowohl Pea als auch Venus ihr Glück finden?

Die Inhaltsangabe dieses Buches hat mich sehr neugierig gemacht. Die Idee, römische bzw griechische Mythologie in die moderen Welt zu bringen, fand ich ausgesprochen witzig und so mußte ich dieses Buch einfach lesen.
Der Roman ist ein wunderschön leichtes Buch. Ich habe beim Lesen öfter mal geschmunzelt und auch gelacht.
Pea ist einfach ein Schatz und auch Venus ist irgendwie knuffig.
Die männlichen Protagonisten sind für einen solchen Roman auch genau richtig und haben mir gut gefallen.
Nur das ständige ‘Schätzchen’ von Venus ging mir das ein oder andere Mal auf den Wecker, aber nie so stark, daß es den Lesespaß gemindert hätte.
Insgesamt ist “Göttin der Liebe’ ein schöner Liebesroman, der sich locker weglesen läßt, Spaß macht und mit dem von mir erwarteten (und erwünschten) Happy End ausgestattet ist.
Ich werde sicher auch die nächsten Teile dieser Reihe lesen.

Başlarda kitabı çok beğendim.. Karakterler olsun kurgu olsun gayet güzeldi. Venüs (Aşk Tanrıçası), 2. kitaptan tanıdığımız Persephone ile modern dünyayı gezmeye gelir. Pea ise itfaiyeci Griffin'e fena halde aşık, kendine güveni olmayan ve bakımsız bir kadındır ama çok zeki bir kadın :P

Vulcanus ise kururu (bir ayağı sakat) yüzünden diğer tanrılar tarafından aşağılanır ve itibarını kazanmak için Venüs'le evlenmiştirç Venüs'ün bu evlilikten çıkarı ise çok sıklıdığı zaman kocası Ateş Tanrısı'nın Olimpos'tan uzak olan evine sığınmaktır. İşte Hera ve Zeus oğullarının gerçek aşkı bulması için Venüs'le Pea'yı karşılaştırırlar. Ve Vulcanus Pea'ya.. Venüs ise Griffin'e aşık olur :P

Tanrıça serisinin en beğenmedim SONU bu kitapta okudum yoksa hikayeyi sonuna kadar çok sevdim tabi yine saçma yerler vardı da sonu beni sinir etti.. Belki 2 yıldız verirdim ama başta sevdiğim için elim varmıyor :D

I really enjoyed this, it was funny and light hearted, and Pea was a lovely character. I felt as though she had a similar personality to Bridget Jones, always managing to humiliate herself, but doesn't let it destroy her resolve. She was a strong grounded female, no ways a damsel. Venus is just the trick for her self confidence, like a fairy godmother. Who wouldn't want one of those.

P.C. Cast continues her tradition of mixing some great mythology with a Tulsa-twist! Just like the others, there is mounds humor (Persephone and Venus at dinner and examining an "adult toy" with curious innocence) and of course lusty romance. Yummy men, although I would say these were not the best of her heros, but still likable (Hades will always be my favorite). Venus and her "make-over job" on Pea are the focus of this one and I love that this set in Tulsa for the majority of the book instead...more

Confidence is probably the moral of this story. Confidence in yourself and being confident in love. If you start doubting yourself, well then... You make mistakes and you have regrets.
These series has really got me thinking about myself, like feminity, my confidence and srlf-esteem, my love life, and my regrets (just to name a few lol).
