Manolito ha decidido no dar respiro a sus admiradores, y estas vacaciones está dispuesto a todo. ¡Qué tiemble España entera..., porque este pequeño charlatán de Carabanchel (Alto) se sobra y se basta para marear a su familia, a la psicóloga y a todo el barrio! Ya sabemos que Manolito no es el niño ideal: es el niño que todos llevamos dentro.

Summary:
Summer has finally come, but Manolito is stuck at home while all of his friends head off on vacation. To fill the time, Manolito and his little brother go to Hangman's park or the swimming pool. The summer seems to be boring until Manolito makes a new friend, Mustard. The two of them begin to play games together and when Big Ears comes back it is a little awkward trying to find time for all of Manolito's friends. He is growing a little older and now is learning how to balance things with

Adult Reader Reaction: This is the first Manolito Four-Eyes book I've read, and it will probably be the last. Name calling (disguised as nicknames) was a bit over the top; and the humor was stereotypical, cliche, and flat. I found myself wondering who the audience was. It has a Wimpy Kid feel to it that would grab dormant readers. The word density on the page, combined with the vocabulary [place names like Carabanchal, Carcagente] and long tangents would frustrate those readers. The tangents ...more

La verdad que Manolito Gafotas siempre me hace reír, y los libros están tan chiquitos que se los hecha uno en una sentada.
Este libro fue sobre las vacaciones de verano del Manolo, de sus aventuras en la alberca, el calorón que se traen en Carabanchel, las vacaciones de todos sus amigos menos de él que sus padres no tienen dinero para salir y de las ocurrencias del Imbécil, que hay que ver.
Lectura ligera y agradable para pasar una tarde.

This series of books are sweet and funny. They make for a good read and serve as a distraction for your mind, if only briefly, from all the bad news we're exposed to in the day to day.
Plus I get to learn lots of Spanish slang and expressions. I recommend it for Spanish learners. It's not a difficult read, makes you smile and you learn some words and phrases you won't find in any dictionary.

Ha sido muy divertido leer con mi hijo este verano coincidiendo sus vacaciones con las del personaje. Divertido para niños pero con una crítica y momentos agridulces en un segundo nivel para los adultos.

Elvira Lindo is a Spanish journalist and writer.

At the age of 12 Lindo moved to Madrid, where she studied journalism. She did not get her degree, as she began to work in television and radio as a speaker, actress and scriptwriter. Her first novel was based on one of her fictional radio characters, the madrileño boy Manolito Gafotas, who has become a classic of Spanish children's literature. Manoli
