Three big-name cozy writers contribute candy cane-themed novellas to this entertaining yuletide anthology. Levine's series heroine Jaine Austen (Death by Pantyhose, etc.) spots a wealthy suburbanite's killer in the unfortunately skimpy The Danger of Candy Canes, where the subplot about a troubled teen is more compelling than the actual mystery. Hannah Swensen (Key Lime Pie Murder, etc.) experiments with new Christmas cookies (recipes included, of course) and gets to the bottom of a Santa slaying...more

Finally finished!
This is a collection of 3 short story murder mysteries that have a Christmas theme. The Christmas theme basically means snow and cookies.
The first short story: Candy Cane Murder was typical Joanne Fluke. Enjoyable but not edge of seat reading. The murder victim was a poor choice on the author's part - unlikable and forgettable.
The second short store: The Dangers of Candy Canes I did not like at all. This is where I spent the most time falling asleep while reading.

Not her best, but I always find it fun to read seasonally...meaning I only read Christmas books around Christmas time. By the way, this is a short story. Even though I have read tons ofculinary mysteries, this was the first time that I actually made a receipe! I only did it because the character in the book cannot cook (neither can I)and everyone oohed and ahhed over these cookies. So, I thought what the heck...I'm in the holiday spirit...thus I made the Lemon Whippersnappers. Mmmm Mmmm GOO...more

I'm trying like mad to deny that Christmas is coming up, but who am I to deny a cozy mystery that features two of my favorite characters. This book contains three short mysteries by three different authors - all of them Christmas themed. I only read 2 (because I don't care for the Lucy Stone mysteries) but I really enjoyed them! They didn't exactly put me in the Christmas spirit, but they'll tide me over until the next books in their respective series come out.

A fast read of three short mysteries that all involve candy canes. I didn't care for all three equally. My favorite was Leslie Meier's piece - probably because I am already familiar with her Lucy Stone books. There are several recipes included throughout the book and if you check back in a day or two, I will tell you how "Lemon Whippersnappers" taste - I am making a batch tomorrow!

While I liked the Joanne Fluke story, I was disappointed in the other two. I actually only thought I was getting the Fluke book, so was surprised to find 2 others "attached". Good entertaining fluff of a mystery. A quick entertaining read, with lots of fun recipes as expected. Felt the other 2 were superfluous attempts at coat-tail image enhancement.

Candy Cane Murder was a typical Joanne Fluke novel just a little shorter. This was the reason I bought the book and I wasn't disappointed in that part of it. I didn't really like the second story in the book. No reason in particular, it just didn't grab my attention well. The third story in the book though was better than the middle one.

I requested this from the library for the Joanne Fluke story. It was pretty good. The I did not like the Laura Levine story because I did not like the main character. The Leslie Meier story wasn't too bad.

I read the Candy Cane Murder and it was cute & funny- typical Joanne Fluke that I love. The other short stories I didn't finish, there wasn't a "hook" for me to keep reading.

There are three stories written by three different authors in this book. They weren't bad actually, but..I don't know..they just didn't give me enough thrill, I guess..

I like these stories, this is about 10th in the series. But, the stories are predictable, and a little boring at times. There are great recipes, though!

This book is just like all of the other books by this author, and is really boring. But, if you just read a few of them, it isn't too bad.

This series is just fun. Any of these books are for times when you need a mind break, clean entertainment, a maybe a new recipe.

This book has books by two other authors inside it. The book by JoAnne Fluke is short. But always fun and good recipes!

The first story I would give 4 stars, the second story 3 stars and the third story 1 star, so overall 3 stars.

Read this for the Joanne Fluke story. Couldn't tolerate the Levine story, but enjoyed the Mejier story.
