Summary: Dana Evans, newscaster extraordinaire with the perfect boyfriend and an adoptee from Kosovo, stumbles onto a conspiracy to kill off a family of impeccably behaved philanthropists. Can she figure it out before the bad guys get her?
Picked up as part of a huge box lot for £60. One of the more amusing revelations from the box!

Efficiently brisk and reliably suspenseful, Sheldon's novel demonstrates that this veteran master of commercial fiction has not lost his touch. Freshly returned to Washington, D.C., from a stint reporting in Sarajevo, TV newscaster Dana Evans (introduced in Sheldon's "The Best Laid Plans") struggles to cope with her new adopted son, troubled 12-year-old Kemal, whose parents and sister were killed in the fighting.

this book was about an anchorwoman called Dana. She tries to do a report on a family that was really famous, she wanted to report about how all of them died all of a sudden. she tries to get a lot of information, she goes to different countries to find out the truth. but she doesn't realize that her life is in danger by doing that, because some people want to keep it a secret and do not want it to be out in public. She trusts many people on this and tells them every information she gets, but unf

I picked this up at a library sale, having never read anything from Sheldon before, and the dust jacket spoke highly of him and his other work (books, TV shows, awards, etc.). Well, it's obvious they weren't talking about this book. This one contains a very thin plot, foreseeable twists, and very little imagery outside of the basic story. Good authors, who do their homework, can put the reader in the character's shoes - what they're thinking, feeling, and seeing. Here you have a main charact

Silahkan baca sendiri..

Not very original. It seemed to take Sheldon 100 pages to get the plot moving, and then it just ends abrubtly, like Sheldon ran out of time and had to think of the fastest ending possible. The characters, even the main character, were poorly developed and 98% of the men act exactly the same. They're gracious and polite. I guess this author doesn't believe in varying personalities in this world. Everyone is either middle class or very rich, which is also not realistic. Dana took several trips to

A friend of mine lent me some of her books to try out. I read this one first and decided it wasn't too bad. Not the best of fiction, but not a complete waste of time either. A female reporter brings back an orphan but leaves him behind as she travels the world a lot and solves the mysterious deaths of a famous family (which reminded me of the Kennedy family).

This book was a quick read, which I enjoyed for a change. I hadn't read any Sidney Sheldon since the last decade! Although this was written in 2000, I still enjoyed following Dana around the globe as she visited places I've also been to. One of her thoughts made me chuckle (and made me think of Tom): "Who in their right mind would visit Russia in the winter?"

I could not put this book down! There wasn't a single boring moment, I swear. Good paced, fun, thrilling, and disturbing, there was a cliff-hanger at the end of every single chapter. It's very common on Sidney Sheldon novels to have a surprising end that no one could have seen coming, and this one is no different. Although I'm used to his style and learned to expect the unexpected, his stories keep me guessing and misleading me to wrong conclusions, so there is ALWAYS a surprise. Definitely my f

This book was absolutely amazing. The whole suspense over the murders kept me going. Not only was it all thrilling, but it had a lot of sentiment aswell between the protaganist and her adopted son. If you're the type of person with the urge for murder mystery, then this is the book for you :D

Not a bad read but I invariably compare all Sheldon's books to Master of the Game and none of them come close. My fault I guess for having read that one first. I probably would have liked this one more if it had no cover and went in blind.

I read this book because my brother urged me to, and it was the first i read of Sidney Sheldon. I have since tried to read every one of his books, simply because they are engaging and completely shocking towards the end.

It was amazing, once again Maggie did not let me down! I love a suspense book that actually keeps you in suspense, especially when you are so sure of who the antagonist is, but you are way off base. Sidney Sheldon is amazing!

Sidney Sheldon is one of my favorite authors and this is another one of his thrillers that is difficult to put down. I love the strength of his main characters, which are usually women, and how he takes the reader to different places around the world and makes you feel like you are there.

This was excellent, had me on the edge of my seat. Published in 2000.
Let me know if you want me to hang on to it for you. BTW all of his books are very good. I read them years ago.

A very easy read. A good book that can be interspersed between heavy reads. It comes with a very subtly imbibed caution against the nuclear weapons. Kemal seemed cute and adorable.

If you picked up "The Sky is Falling" because it was written by the famous Sidney Sheldon, you will be grossly disappointed in what you find between its covers.

It is good but not really unexpected. The saying that "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer" came to my mind here from the beginning so I sort of expected the ending.

The 1st book I've read by Sidney Sheldon. The story was a tad far fetched for me...even for fiction, but I will be sure to give him another try.

According to a google search, the last plutonium plant in Siberia was shut down in the Summer of 2008, but otherwise this is a fairly interesting story!

Not bad at all, my first book by Sheldon. Always thought books by him are about romance only.

Not finished - Probably won't finish since the e-library copy expired on my nook color a week ago.
Here's the thing - this book above all else, is incredibly predictable. The plot is blah, the characters under-developed and shallow. He describes the characters(namely the men) the same. I suspect her fiance is the bad guy- lol. Either way, I was very disappointed. But don't take my word for it.... (haaa)
Sidney is a talented writer, no doubt. I just didn't care for this p More...

Beginning and middle were pretty good, but the ending was kind of drawn out and hard to follow.
