recommends it for: people who want to update their home and make it cosy
wooondeeeerrrful.
This book is absolutely amazing. To all the readers who find that regular decorating books and magazines make everything looking sterile and impossible for their own space: this is your book.
It helps you approach each room by pointing out all important information that you should consider before buying new stuff.
Also it has great ideas and tricks that are affordable and for everyone (also special sections for renters).
I keep looking back in to find new id...more

Basically a bound and longer issue of the now sadly-defunct Domino magazine. Read my mom's copy while visiting this afternoon and lovingly pored over the photos. I love the idea that the magazine aimed to democratize decorating, though I think it assumes its readers have much more discretionary income than they probably have. Still, it's full of drool-inducing photos, interesting design combinations, and helpful techniques for decorating even my shoebox.

I bought this for myself with Birthday Gift Cards I had gotten, and love the pictures. It's so much fun to look at lushly created rooms with such personality and flair. I love the modern sensibility of Domino magazine and their book, but I would wish for more step by step practical advise for us newbies in decorating- more exact tips on how to view a room and size up what is wrong with it, what it needs, how to edit a collection, etc.

I have not read this book cover-to-cover with highlighter in hand, but I have flipped through it several times for inspiration, reading much of the text along the way. A great book to keep handy if you are thinking about making changes to your home...certainly gets the creative juices flowing. And if you don't already subscribe, Domino Magazine is a delightful monthly treat to yourself if you enjoy perusing these types of books!

In this instance, you honestly can judge the book by its cover, as this one is as informative as it is beautiful. "Domino" by Deborah Needleman, Sara Ruffin Costello, and Dara Caponigro is 'the' decorating book to own.

It starts by exlaining the eight steps to getting started, including floor plans, finding inspiration, and budgeting. All types of rooms imaginable are covered by seperate chapters, each ending with a beautiful example of a room from one of the actual authors...more

The format is brilliant...showing example rooms in a variety of two-word descriptive styles (modern eclectic, urban romantic, etc), and giving some very helpful tips.

I gave it 3 stars simply because none of the interiors, while interesting, were "my style" at all. They all just struck me as too cold and impersonal.

All of the apartments shown are those of Domino editors and staff members. I'm not terribly familiar with the magazine (which is unfortunate, since it's ending it's four-year run in the near future), but it seems to me that websites & books like apartmenttherapy.com do a much better job of representing a popular design aesthetic.

For anyone with a penchant for home decor, this is a must have. It is loaded with fantastic pictures, ideas, and resources. I refer to it constantly as I attempt to create a home that is a refuge and a delight. It is the best aide that I have yet come across.

I will never have the house of my dreams. We have too much STUFF. I want to live in a house with almost no stuff. But still have my stuff.

Anyway, I did get some ideas but really, I need to focus on where the walls go, and not what is hung on them.

This was a great idea starter book. I liked the layout, going room by room, examining what's important in each individual space. It also had a great section in each chapter that had important tips to remember and decorating tricks. This book is a great place to start gathering your thoughts for a particular room your working on. The photography is done really well, picture candy, and it had a good combination of design styles. A little trendy, but that's to be expected.

The best most addictive house porn ever...because it convinces you you're one swatch away from the cleverest eat-in-kitchen treatment of all time. A tragic end for this monthly delicacy. How will I fill the void?

So many ideas for home improvement -- so little time! I think this book will revolutionize my entryway. I'd never consider putting a chest of drawers there to house my overflow of scarves, hats and gloves.

I didn't read this word for word, but it was fun to look through. I realized that none if it was really my style though. Very artsy/high end decorator stuff.

Fabulous book. It has it's own little shelf in my library. Wonderful ideas and just jam-packed with tons of eye candy.

Lots of color combinations, ideas and inspirations in this book. I dream that one day my home really will be "all put together." It hasn't happened for over a decade now, but I believe I will eventually get more done around my home and this book will help give me some ideas and a reference to use as a place for a jump start.

I really appreciate that the book doesn't need to serve as just an interior decorating book but as a design book too. The mix & match, color palettes, t...more
