Fluffy book--am I to believe that two highly educated people could find themselves in a situation such as this one? No communication between husband and wife and complete misunderstanding regarding each other and their friends and family. And poor police work and the couple eventually hiring a husband and wife law office.

May try another book by this author but if it is as silly as this one, I will not continue to read.

I don't like giving such a low rating to a book but had no choice with this one. First, the narrator's style was jarringly melodramatic; ordinary sentences delivered with sneering sarcasm or "aha, now I've got you!" inflections. The husband -wife main characters' bickering is very annoying. Their inability to discuss even routine matters without spiraling into indignant huffs fills lots of space but holds up the story. The resolution is the best part of the book but is too little, too late.

I got about halfway through this book and had to stop. I was getting more and more annoyed with Peyton and her husband, both making assumptions, not trusting the other, making stupid decisions. I have enjoyed a novel by this author in the past, but this one just is no longer worth my time. Too many other books waiting.

The writing was routine and the nuances improbable. Unmemorable characters. LIke many books crafted by outline, this one gets all wrapped up in the last few pages. Trite. An unrewarding read.

Absolutely the best of James Grippando! I really enjoyed this novel. A young married doctor is stalked, but her stalker is too clever for detection, yet crazy enough to fall prey to cyber lies. The twists and turns are numerous. There is murder, blackmail and more danger. The doctor and her husband go on trial for the death of her ex-boyfriend who may or may not have been the stalker (no spoilers here). The courtroom scenes rival anything by Grisham or your favorite legal thriller author. The ...more

Why are characters portrayed as so dumb? "I should call the police, but..." How silly. "I have a cordless phone, I'm expecting a call, but rather than take the phone to the tub I'm going to keep getting out to answer it. Oh no, no power! Now I can't call the police. What's that sound? Oh, that's just my cell phone. Too bad I didn't call the police while my power was on, now I'll have to face all bad guys on my own. No one loves me or believes me. Oh, that's right, I only accuse people and not ...more

This thriller is set in Boston and involves some pretty scarry stuff happening to the lead character, Peyton. She is a resident in Pediatrics at Children's Hospital. Her husband is a lawyer in an old new england firm.

Someone is trying to kill Peyton and she is also being framed for the murder of a former lover. Her husband is an unsupportive idiot. Her mother is overbearing - and her father is barely in the story.

I got sick of the characters before the story was over - otherwise it was pretty go

Ok thriller with some problems. I'm not sorry I read it, but I'm not recommending. Just too many times where "Why would anyone do/say/believe something so stupid" came up.

This is the first book I've read by this author. I liked it! ALOT! it really surprised me at the twists. It's a creepy tale, and you begin wondering almost from the beginning just Who? Is stalking Peyton? She's a likable character, her husband not so much. Like I stated, it has some twists and it was a good read.

Preso in prestito dalla biblioteca ?? Forse un libro che mi terrà compagnia per tutto questo mese o che mi coinvolgerà a tal punto da leggerlo in una settimana intera ?? This book was pretty good, it definitely had me guessing as to who the stalker/killer was. I did start to get annoyed with all the lying and Kevin & Peyton not believing when people were actually telling them the truth.

Sure, I liked it. Fairly typical of the thriller genre, but with a few worthy twists. Very much plot-driven, with little character development, but hey, that's what makes a thriller a thriller. Characters need to be empathetic to a certain degree, but it's the action, the made-for-TV-movie pace that provides the grist for the mill.

Let's run through the check list: this one features a stunningly beautiful (check) professional woman(check), who's being stalked by a sociopathic killer (check), with

This thriller is set in and around Boston. Peyton Shields is a new doctor who has always wanted to be a pediatrician, and now works at the Children's Hospital. Her husband Kevin Stokes is a lawyer who doesn't like living in Boston that much. Their relationship has grown strained due to her long hours and dedication to her job. When she is forced off the road by a driver on a snowy night and ends up in a pond, neither the police nor Kevin believe her story. When more unexplained things start to ...more

A first read by this author for me. A good and scary psychological thriller - read it very quickly.

Back Cover Blurb:
Peyton Shields' nightmare begins one icy winter night when, as she is driving home from the hospital where she works as a pediatric intern, she is run off the road. She suspects it was no accident, as she fears she's being stalked. But no one believes her, not even her husband, Kevin Stokes. He thinks she's being paranoid - and the police think she's cracking under stress. After Ke

I really hope if I ever say I'm innocent, my family believes me. The horror of not being trusted is too much to comprehend. What a great read, you get caught up in the panic of not being trusted and thought of as guilty. Though at times I was getting annoyed and wishing it would end already.

The whole time I wanted to junk punch Kevin for not believing Peyton, when he was the one who was unfaithful and making excus

This book was really interesting for me. It's a very quick and exciting thriller. The characters are contructed in a way that makes you bond easily to them. You cared about what's going to happen next. But I will say that the twists in the book keep you going and going. I thought I knew who was behind it but then it turned in a completely different direction. I enjoyed the interplay between all the couples: Peyton and her husband, her parents and the lawyers that represent them. I found the ...more

It was a very fast paced thriller. Reminded me of the 'Bollywood masala movies'. I was totally engrossed from page 1 and am happy to say that I guessed the pyschopath and his accomplice before the end. Peyton is a pediatric resident with a busy schedule who is juggling her residency with marriage to a jealous but loving husband, Kevin, who is a lawyer. She is stalked by an unknown man, her previous lover is killed under mysterious circumstances, her husband faces trouble at his law firm and ...more

Meh.....Started out ok but went down hill right to the end....I was not drawn into this story at all. Peyton and Kevin have a relationship that resembles being back in high school, the plot has an awful lot of holes and if you enjoy trying to figure out the story forget it the author dosen't give you anything to work with instead just tells you in the end pages who dunnit....the end. I knew I was in trouble when my favorite characters were the lawyers....if you need something mindless to read on ...more

James Grippando has books that are highly riveting and keep you on the edge. This one does not disappoint. His characters are always someone you can relate to and you can get wrapped up into their dilemas. Peyton Shields is a woman caught on the edge of a nightmare, and being accused of a murder she did not commit. Her family it seems is the only one who truly believes her...or do they. The only disappointing feature of this book, is the ending never really explains who the character is that is ...more

This is the story of Peyton, a young woman who is in the final phases of becoming a pediatrician. Her lawyer-husband has an affair with someone at work on the same night that Peyton is run off the road and left for dead. He is wracked with guilt and becomes suspicious of his wife. Peyton is the victim of an obsessed sicko, whom she has never met. Turns out that someone has been pretending to be Peyton while having cyber-sex with this sicko. I listened to this on audio and enjoyed it very much. Quite a thriller with twists.

Payton is doing her residency at a hospital to be a pediatrician. Her husband Kevin is a lawyer and a writer. It seems they have a perfect life but they both work a lot and don't have a lot of time for each other.

Payton has bought a gun because Kevin travels a lot and she thinks she heard the lock on her front door being turned one night. It becomes apparent that she is being stalked and a previous lover of hers

I thought that this was an awesome book. There were a lot of twists and turns with the plot. Peyton was considered quirky my many who met her. She was highly motivated and involved in a very competitive residency in Boston. Her husband was trying to fit in with a major law firm but had Southern roots that precluded him from some circles. There is a stalker involved that makes life miserable. The Mother in Law is from Hell. I couldn't put the book down. Trying to live up to someone else's ...more

Oh god, I can't believe how creeped out and afraid for the main character, Peyton I felt while reading this novel. I think from the first few pages I fell deep into the story line and I really felt like I was a part of it all. I feel like I was several steps behind and was never expecting what came next, which is part of the reason I loved this novel so much! It was an incredible read, and I really would love to read more novels by James Grippando!

Not incredibly great, but not incredibly bad either. I just got annoyed with the protagonists repeated mistakes of not telling their spouse the whole truth. It really got played out! I almost didn't want to finish it because of this plot driving trick. However, I hate not finishing books so...... ;)

I agree with many other reviewers.. There were no particularly likable characters and everyone was pretty stupid. I read to the end to figure out who the bad guy was but by that time I didn't care. And those two lawyers. They weren't looking out for their clients very well. I wouldn't have paid them.

I read another book by this author that I rated 4 stars. After reading this one I will be hunting down another of his. I enjoy a book of suspense that keeps you guessing and this one filled the bill. It's about a pediatric intern , Peyton Shield, whose life is in danger. It has many twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your chair. Most enjoyable
