Simple but fun - maybe 3.5 stars. Aphra lives with her dad on a secluded tropical island that caters to vacationing celebrities but provide her no chance to make friends or meet people or be a normal teen. Then a boy her age, plus his parents, arrive at the island one day before a murder takes places on the beach, and Aphra realizes that someone needs to find the killer - and find out what other secrets this boy's family is keeping.

Most teenage girls would be envious of Aphra's job — she works at a resort in a tropical island, surrounded by the rich and famous. But her life basically sucks. She has no friends, her social calendar is blanko, and her dad gets red around the ears every time she says “period.” But she's been marooned in this place ever since her mother ducked out on them four years ago, and it's looking like it might be permanent. Like, gag me with a bikini.

Cute, short mystery. Not really fast paced, but a fast read. It was an interesting story, but a bit predictable. I liked it and I'll read the rest of the series, but it was just okay.

Aphra is a young teen who lives with her dad at his hotel/resort. She doesn't know her mom, but she later finds out where her mom is. I think this would be a wonderful book for a young teenage girl that knows what life is like to live with just her dad. Maybe also for someone who likes a little bit of a mystery, and suspense.
I can't say I really disliked this book, things that I can point out that I did like are as follows. I loved how Linda brought the story to life through the im More...

Death by bikini may sound like a strange book but it is very suspenseful and quite a thriller.
You may think it would be so cool to live on a resort island and be in the sun all day. But not for Aphra, she works at her dad’s resort, which happens to be the only resort on the whole island. She was just wishing for a normal life and she thought she had gotten her life when a new boy and his family moved onto the island. But she had little time to enjoy it when Aphra found one of her favorite More...

Death by bikini was an interesting book, because just when you thought you had everything figured out, there was a new twist in the story. Aprah has a life most teenage girls would dream of, she lives on a remote beach resort that is warm all the time, and basically does whatever she want's. Aprah hates this life however because she misses her friends back in South Carolina, and most of all her mother who she hasn't seen in 4 years. Aprah's life suddenly get's a lot more interesting when a boy n

A girl who lives on a tropical island, I wish that was me! Aphra is a girl who lives on a tropical island with her father, who owns a resort, and she works there! I thought it was a great idea for Aphra's personality. The author's plot was extremely original and fresh. Something new, which I love!
When a guy name Seth Mulo comes, Aphra gets attracted, but when a girl turns up dead in the beach, after one day when Seth Mulo arrives, straightaway Aphra thinks there's something about the More...

Imagine if Nancy Drew tried to stop an international crime ring, ran afoul of frightening assassins, stuck her nose in everything and got in all kinds of sticky situations because of her meddling - oh wait, Nancy did all those things. Well, the Death by Bikini Mysteries are a kind of updated version of the Nancy Drew mysteries I loved as a kid. The meddler/heroine, Aphra Behn Connolly (lit reference alert!) is just as kick ass as Nancy and the stories are extremely fast-paced and exciting. The c

Aphra has been living on a lovely secluded island for four years now. Her father owns a luxurious resort where retired big names and rich people come for a getaway. It sounds like a dream life but in reality, Aphra finds it quite lonely.
Her boring life changes when the secretive Smith family comes to stay at the resort. They have a very attractive son named Adam. Even though, Aphra can not get it out of her head that the family is hiding something.

Death by bikini is about a 16-year old girl named Aphra that lives in a resort on a island that her and her dad own. Things in life are easy for Aphra, until someone is found on the beach strangled by a bikini. Aphra is determined to solve the case of her friends death, and all eyes point to a family that mysteriously shows up on the island and shushes her dad with all their secrets. Will she solve the murder case? Is it the family that that seems to mysteriously show up on the island?

A real page turner. Sixteen year old Aprhra is a modern and engaging version of Nancy Drew as she tries to find out what is behind the death of the girl on the beach, and the mysterious appearance of the cute boy with his family at her dad's secluded resort hotel. Along the way she also discovers just why her mom left her behind four years ago. It is the first in a clever mystery series and I loved it! With just the right touch of romance, it will definately appeal to the young female reader

This was a fun read, although I feel like it went by very quickly. I don't read mysteries too often so it was a nice change of pace from my usual fare. I didn't always agree with Aphra's conclusions but I appreciate how brave she was and how determined she was to take responsibility for her actions. I also quite liked her rapport with Seth and I wish they could have gotten more scenes together, but given how fast-paced the novel is, I guess it just wasn't possible. The reveals towards the end ac

A really fun, exciting mystery that surprised me with its well-developed characters and great storyline!
I expected just an average middle-grade read or something, but Death by Bikini exceeded my expectations... I ended up finishing the whole series in just a few days! I loved the interesting characters and how there was just enough action, romance, and wit to complete the beachy feel of this book especially.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who liked Nancy Drew as a More...

This was actually a very good mystery! I loved it from cover to cover. I also love the little twist on how she hasn't seen her friends, a mall, or even a movie in FOUR YEARS! That's Crazy! I would never be able to live like that! Oh, but some things I didn't like were things like her father being a total jerk at one point, and the fact she has to WORK there. I mean, I get she's 16 or 17 and should be getting some work experience, but when you tear away some of the most important things in a teen

Very good. It had a good theme, and idea. I read though it over two days, it was small and was a good read over a road trip. I think I will read the next one Death by Latte, and maybe Death by Denim. The book starts with Aphra, which is a weird name, but she is living on a resort island when a girl is seen dead on the beach in a bikini hence the name. She tries to unravel the mystery, but unravels herself in the process. This is a good starting book for the series which will build on how she put

Aphra lives with her father on a remote island resort. When a strange family flies in, Aphra knows that something weird is going on and she is determined to find out what it is. With a guest murdered, a man with a gun, a father who won't tell her anything, and a family that is lying about who they are, Aphra doesn't know who to trust. And then there is the issue of her mother who she hasn't seen in 4 years. This is a great series for teens who like the Spy Goddess books or the Gallagher Girls bo

Plot: This book had mystery, suspense, some espionage, and even a little romance, but as mystery novels go, this one was pretty predictable. Aphra Behn Connolly, lives on a tropical island, that would be paradise, if only her mom was there and if there were more kids her age. Aphra's mom, a government agent, mysteriously left Aphra and her dad a few years ago. Now Aphra is stuck on an island with no kids her age and is extremely bored. So when a family comes that has a son Aphra's age, you can imagine she is happy, but what she didn't expect was a murder on the same day. Now it is up to Aphra to figure out who she can trust and who s

Summary: Aphra Behn Connolly has the type of life most teenage girls envy. She lives on a remote tropical island and spends most of her time eavesdropping on the rich and famous. The problem is that her family's resort allows few opportunities for her to make friends - much less to meet cute boys. So when a smoldering Seth Mulo arrives with his parents, she's immediately drawn to him. Sure, he's a little bit guarded, and sure his parents are rather cold, and okay he won't say a word about More...

I had heard only good things about this book, but I didn't really know what I was expecting. I mean, a mystery where a girl dies on the beach with her bikini straps tied across her neck? That could go one of two ways: either really good or really, horribly done.
Linda Gerber did a great job of making sure it was really good. There was an amazing mix of romance, mystery, and an exciting setting of the jungle.
The book is really fast paced and it gets exciting really quick. That More...

Aphra Connolly has a life that most teenage girls would kill to have. She lives on a tropical island where lots of famous people go to vacation. However, Aphra doesn't see her life on the island as that amazing. Her mother didn't move with Aphra and her father, and she hasn't seen her in about 4 years. When an unannounced guest arrives and makes her father start acting weird, Aphra is sure something is going on. Then the guarded Seth arrives with his family, and something is going on with them,

Aphra Behn Connolly believes she is just an average teenage girl. The fact is though she leads a life that is anything but normal, actually most people would be pretty jealous of her. Her and her dad own and run a luxury resort on a secluded tropical island and Aphra spends her day eavesdropping on the lives of the rich and famous. There is one down side though to living on the island, Aphra is secluded from all the things that teenagers take for granted – friends and hot guys.
