Dark Angel: Gillian Lennox's life has been nothing further than boring until one evening in the icy Pennslyvanian wilderness where she hears a scream, thinking it is a child she goes to save only to find her own death at handy. There she dies but then she is brought back by a blonde, violet eyed guy who claims to be an Angel and asks her if she truly wants to leave her life behind?
Gillian then agrees to come back but is even more shocked when the boy follows her and tells her he is her guardian angel and whispers her to the secret of popularity and the way to make her longtime crush David Blackburn to notice her. But then there is this freaky place he tells her about and the creepy, scary club he takes her to where he tells he is her soulmate even though David is her real soulmate.

The Chosen: Rashel Jordan is the most feared vampire hunter of the world of vampires. They call her 'The Cat' and had even offered her rewards but all of that doesn't mean anything to her. She is looking for the red-haired man who once killed her mother when she was 5 and taken her little friend Timmy. Then, she rescues Daphne Childs from a group of vampires who want to take her to the slave trade and there starts the trouble when she sees john Quin the dark, mysterious and most feared vampire plus a heir to the Redferns. The first ever vampires. But, worst of all he happens to be her solmate but that doesn't mean he is any different from the other blood-sucking monsters and she even hates his desire for blood. The 2 of them will kill each to have the fun of it but it seems like doings aren't as easy as sayings.

Soulmate: Hannah Snow's life was perfect, good grades, good friends and looks until the notes in her own handwriting she can't remember writing and nightmares started. Notes like 'He is coming' or ' Do Not Throw This Note Away' etc. Hannah thinks she is going crazy until her phychiatrist hypnotises her and she is gone into a life of a girl who looks the same as her buut is called 'Hana Of The Three Rivers' and the stranger who once took her life away. Further more there comes the raven haired girl called Maya who warns Hannah over and over through lifetimes and this time she will do the most dangerous and selfish thing she should have done ages ago and if Thierry, the stranger doesn't get to her earlier it might be the end of their love.(less)

After reading the first Night World book, I got curious about where the series was going, so I picked up the next book. As the stories progress, they seem to get better and better. I found this volume of stories much better than the last volume. It revolves around the "soulmate principal" which means that every character ends up finding his or her soulmate.

I really like the format of the smaller stories. You get to know each of the characters intimately, knowing their background and paranormal history. Some creatures are born as such and some are created, making each an individual with original thought processes.

I was given this book as a gift from a friend. After reading the first book I decided to see where the story was going. Again I knew when the characters were introduced they were going to end up together somehow. My favourite of the three stories in this book was Dark Angel. I like how it was mysterious in nature and how the story played out.

Like the first volume of the Night World books, Night World Vol. 2 is a supernatural lover's dream book. Smith's stories, though they revolve around the same beings, are all very inventive and unique. Her characters are varied and all have colourful personalities, which gives the concept of the Night World such authenticity. Smith's writing also has an air of sophistication and ease that is very simple and enjoyable to read, but at the same time, deals with many complex issues. Like with the first volume, there is plenty of doomed romance and danger, but rather than coming across as cheesy, it is adventurous and polished.

Also in this volume, readers get a feel for the changes that are going on in the Night World, set in motion by the original characters from Secret Vampire (Volume 1), Poppy and James, and Smith also adds some Night World history and lore in Soulmate. These little qualities that lend credibility to a comprehensive picture of the Night World are what distinguishes Smith's paranormal realm from the many others floating around in the genre, and make for a truly enjoyable reading experience. L.J. Smith is a master at mysterious, action-filled, romantic, and suspenseful reads.(less)

Dark Angel: I really like this plot idea. I've never read a book about an "angel" before. I liked Gary as a character, but he would have been cooler if her were more sinister and hadnt given up so easily. The characters are really cool too!

Soul mate book six by L.J Smith
This installment is my absolute favorite mishap in the entire series!!! Lord Thierry and Lady Hannah… *sigh dreamily*… Their romance was sweet and enduring! It stood the test of time and I liked LJ smith allover again… It was a fantastic ending and I wanted more! Hannah had been having lurid dreams plus she keeps finding weird “post it” in every corner of her home in her own handwriting, warning her that she is in peril and will die before her seventeenth birthday!!! Sick, frightened and anxious about her sanity, she talked to a psychologist and soon begun hypnosis! The first book, Dark Angel, is by far my least favourite book for some odd reason. I loved the story line, it was very intense. The writing was very simple and easy to comprehend, which made the book not much of a challenge at all. This can be both a positive and a negative. As I said before, I really don't like these covers but after reading the first book in the series I just had to read this one. I mean HAD to. I was/am in love with these books. Once again I shall sum up the night world for anyone who does not know. It is like a secret society of vampires, werewolves, witches, shape shifters and an array of other non-human beings. They live among humans but they are forced, by the rules of their people, to keep the Night World a secret. Now that you know what it is I shall move on.

The first of the stories in this book is called Dark Angel. Gillian is a nobody who wants anything to be a somebody. She almost drowned one day and was saved by someone she believed to be her guardian angel. Her guardian angel turns out to be something she wasn't expecting and Gillian has to free herself from him. Along the way she finds out things about herself that she never dreamed of as well as finds her love. A familiar feeling shared by many young women, the want to fit in, makes it much easier to relate to this story than the other stories in the Night World series which I believe makes this a very good story. Not just fantasy, though it holds a great deal of that, but real feelings.

The of the stories in this book is called The Chosen. Rashel witnessed her mother's death at the hands of a vampire and from then on swore to kill that vampire and all other vampires who crossed her path. A very strong heroine who fights for what she believes in. Another story of forbidden love but with more fierce characters making it not feel as juvenile as some of the previous stories.

The third of the storied in the book is called Soulmate. Hannah has lived many lives through the centuries and through them all has been loved deeply by her soulmate, Thierry. Quite a young romance tale, obviously directed at a younger female audience but still a good story.

Much like the first Night World novel in many ways but this one did have some stronger characters and feelings that are much easier to understand. Still nothing amazing but a good read that I felt, for some reason, compelled to continue reading until the book was done.(less)

This is a combination of my individual reviews for Night World 4: Dark Angel, Night World 5: The Chosen, and Night World 6: Soulmate.

I would give this collection a 3-3.5 out of 5. Smith continues her Night World series with Gillian and a guardian angel, Rashel the vampire-hunter with a vampire soulmate, and Hannah and Thierry, the original soulmates.

Gillian's story was okay, but not what i was expecting. I thought Angel would take David's body and she would grow to love him. Also, David seemed too okay with everything. I would totally look at someone as if they were crazy if they told me all of this. Rashel's story, on the other hand and I just have to use this word, was beast. This was not quite as strong as the first volume of Night World, but it had its charms. The volume contains three novels:

"Dark Angel": This was very entertaining. If the heroine had been a little more mature and spunky, it would have been even better, as she faces off against a very threatening villain.

"The Chosen": The weakest Night World tale I've read so far, this one was just dull, with a Buffy rip-off heroine and a love interest who is too much like Ash from Secret Vampire / Daughters of D...more

Dark Angel: I immediately kind of connected with Gillian, guess that's because I saw a part of myself in her, as being the outcast. Though the Night World did not play a huge part in this book, I actually think the story was pretty good. (apart from the high school drama, I couldn't care less about). I did see it coming that ofcourse the angel was no real angel, but the reason why he wasn't, was done very good.

The Chosen: A strong and interesting vampire hunter falls inlove with none other than Quinn, I guess he had it coming after all. As I've stated before I'm not really into the soulmate thing, but since it's such a big element in all the books, I kind of getting used to it. Hopefully we'll see more of them.

I'm glad this book is connected with the Night World and people we've already seen before, again. What I liked the most was that the beginning of the story connects with the rest of it. Though I did saw Timmy becoming an vampire coming, why else would his body be gone. Too bad it wasn't her mother, because that would've been way more interesting.

Hopefully we'll find out who survived that fire, because I really want to know.

Soulmate: I think this is one of the strongest books in the series so far. It was a quite interesting story line, guess that's because it's about reincarnation and I haven't really read a lot about that in books. What I liked the most (and that's pretty much the big reason I enjoyed this book so much) were the Stone Ages flashbacks. Not do we only find about both Hannah and Thierry's past, but also about the orginial vampire Maya, Hellwise and more. It also reference back to previous book characters such as Poppy, James and Ash, I really hope we'll see that more in upcomming books.

The Soulmate element in this book was way more convincing than previous, mostly because of Hannah's past life's, you can see the growth and such. I wish Smith had done more with the flashbacks, because when it got to the end I didn't really find it all too exciting. They defeated big bad Maya, in my opinion, way too fast; for God sakes she's a original, you'd have expected more from her. Guess they needed their happy ending in some way.(less)

Gillian falls in love with David her soul mate and they join circle daybreak.

The 5th part "Chosen" starts with a 5 year old girl playing with her little brother in the park then both brother and morther get killed by a vampire. now the girl is 17 and is a vampire hunter and goes around killing vampires hoping that one day she will kill the vampire that killed her mom and brother. Rashel the vampire hunter ends up loving Quinn a vampire and they are soul-mates they try to kill each other many times but they can't do it so they save a bunch of human girls and burn down an island full of vampires and join Circle Daybreak so they can fight with them against the night world council.

The 6th part "Soul-mate" begins with a girl her name is Hannah and she is at a psychologist cause she thinks she is crazy she finds notes that are written by her but doesn't remember writing them and one note says that she would die before she is 17 which is after a week and while she is there she gets attacked by a wolf but another wolf comes to rescue her. Later on Theirry a vampire finds Hannah and he is her soul-mate and they have been soul-mates in all of Hannah's past lives but Maya the original vampire the one that turned Thierry kills her in every life cause she wants Theirry for herself but this time Hannah kills Maya and breaks the cycle. Hannah and Theirry end up happy together.(less)

Gillian seemed to me a very gullible person. I understand that she thinks she owes her life to "Angel" but there were way too many signs pointing to the obvious. Cutting your hair isn't that outrageous so that was okay, and even some of the things she was saying and doing to be popular seemed harmless. But what with the spells against those girls? Dark Angel: This is one of my favorite books in the series. The plot twisted and left the reader in shock at the end. I think so many can relate to Gillian. She was basically invisible to the world until an angel came to bring out her beauty and give her an admirable personality. Through this she finds that her soul mate is her crush. She also finds herself. I was so happy at the end when Thomas was forgiven so he could forgive himself.

Same as the first one, I'm giving this three stars, though if Goodreads allowed half-star ratings, this would have been 3 and a half stars, just because I liked this compilation better than the first volume. The first book (Dark Angel) gets 2 stars because of the maudlin dialogue but the latter stories (The Chosen, Soulmate) get 3 stars each; Soulmate because of sentimental value I suppose (this was the first Night World book I read) and the characters were good looking AND more kickass than man...more
