Like with the first book, I gobbled this up.
Yes, it's another book about someone who lives the high life, just like many teen books, but here's the thing: most of them are written horribly (like Secrets of My Hollywood Life, the last teen book I read) and there are few well-written. This is one of the best in the bunch. It follows where the first book left off, with Morgan continuing her junior year. The difference from the first book is that in that one she was incognito. Morgan Carter leaves her Hollywood life and becomes a normal teenager that attends high school. She gets a different identity, and different life style. She hates it at first since she is so used to doing what ever she wants. To make things worst, Morgan is in Fort Wayne, Indiana and is living with her mom’s friend. Morgan becomes a teenager named Claudia, and attends high school. Claudia becomes friends with twins, Emily and Eli. But she also has quite a few enemies. Claudia tells lie after lie...more
I have to admit, I got this from the library thinking it would be an easy (and probably cheesy) read for a trip we're on. I got it from the YA section, and knew that if my other book was too heavy, I could turn to this one to lighten things up.
It didn't fail, and it turned out to be much better than I expected! And addicting! I could hardly put it down - just ask my husband!

Had I known this would have a sequel I would have bought them together!
So. Hollywood starlet Morgan Carter is the total party girl. Along with her best friend Marissa Dahl, she drinks and dances like there is no tomorrow. However, after an almost-fatal incident in one of the clubs, Morgan was placed in rehab and subsequently sent to live in a small town under the guise of Claudia Miller, seventeen-year-old high school student. "True Confessions" is a cute YA fiction book. I plan on reading the second one to finish Morgan/Claudia's story. I probably liked the book a little more than some others would only because it is set in Indiana. The main character is hiding out in Fort Wayne; she and a friend take a road trip to Fairmont, Gas City, and Carmel; and her friends tell her not to order a soda unless she wants soda water, we call it pop here. The Indiana references made me smile and the storyline is fun.

My Thoughts:
I picked this one up at a thrift store since it looked like a more modern YA novel. When I read the mention of Ft. Wayne as the city of choice for Morgan to go to, I couldn’t not buy it. I have several friends who live there. Shrug the shoulders, sure, let’s see how this turns out.
At first I was enjoying it, the starting over in a new place thing, not knowing who you really are and tr...more

Ah, teen novels... my recent specialty. I read this because I saw an ad for it as a Lifetime Original Movie (yes, I know, lame). This book reminded me a LOT of Secrets of my Hollywood Life, in that the plot revolves around a teen actress who goes undercover at a high school. In this book, she does this because she recently OD'd outside a nightclub, went to NA, and is now in Fort Wayne, IN, trying to get away from the drug-laced Hollywood scene and her old crowd there. The backdrop for this n...more

Yes, it does follow the trend of books starring celebrities, but it does so wonderfully, even for those of us who haven't read the prequel.

It took me a really long time to finally pick this book up after reading the first one book True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet. I enjoyed the first book quite a bit, but I was not sure what to expect in this book. I did like this book, but it was not much better than ok. Not much happened and I felt that the book didn't do anything, nothing was really resolved or evolved. The book was pretty much pointless, but still an ok read. I would have been better off if I just read the first book and...more
I wasn't sure I'd like this, especially so soon after reading a similar story by a different author. But I was pleasantly surprised. Morgan is a 16-year-old Hollywood starlet recovering drug addict who goes incognito in Indiana to fix herself before trying to fix her career. At first, she's a snotty piece of work, angry and making fun of everything around her, but as the book progresses, she softens a lot. I'm looking forward to the next book, and would recommend this to YA fans!
Things I liked: The accurate look at 12 step programs. Plus, bonus points for acknowledging that teenagers can go to them. The boy she has a crush on is lovely. The heroine eats, even though she's an actress in hiding. The friend of the mom's with whom she is staying. More bonus points for the friend being pissed because the heroine has no one being a parent. Even more bonus points for making her have a life and real feelings and not just immediately be the perfect foster-mom.

Teen actress Morgan Carter hit rock bottom when she O.D.ed in the Viper Room. Six months later, post rehab, she's been shipped to Fort Wayne Indiana to have a normal year of life in high school before writing a book and relaunching her career. As Claudia Miller, Morgan learns the pitfalls and trials and rewards of a "normal" life, but just as she's getting used to it, her secret is revealed . . .
This book is about a famous teen pop star named Morgan Carter. She went through a lot of trouble when she’s off the spotlight. She was only seventeen years old when she famous in Hollywood and on top of the world. While she’s attempting to overcome her addiction to alcohol and drugs, many interesting things happened hen she got send to rehab with her Aunt in Indiana.
Claudia is one of the funniest characters you'll ever meet. She's cocky yet carring. Her love for a boy shows her true colors. She is one of the most relatable characters in the story. Even though she is older and has done some bad things she's just like the rest of us she wants to fit in and be liked. I love love love her sense of style!!!!
This was on my weeding list, but when I saw the protagonist was exiled to Fort Wayne, Indiana, I had to read it--that's where I grew up! The Fort Wayne references were all way more accurate than I was expecting, but this book didn't really do much for me. It's a little predictable and the diary format felt a little forced at times.
This book was pretty addicting. When I started it I thought it was going to end up in my 'unfinished' pile. But as I got into it, I couldn't put it down. Other than the big amount of cussing (i can only take so much) and the over use of God's name as a putdown, I really liked this book and I am determined now to go to the library to hunt down the second one.
This book was amazing, it was about a teen movie star who parties and drinks way too much and has to then move away from hollywood to a small town. She changes her identity and acts like a normal teen. She hates it at first but then she learns to love it. They recently made it into a lifetime movie but the movie sucked.
The sequel to Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet. I gotta say, I love these sort of teen books. I liked the first one in this series and this installment didn't disappoint. In this one, Morgan Carter's real identity as a popular actress out of rehab has been exposed, and she's dealing with trying to live a regular life as a high school student in Indiana amid the new paparazzi there. What I really liked about this book (and its predecessor) is that it doesn't shy away from difficult or dark ...more
Picked this up when I had 15 minutes to kill and then I could not put it down. Such a fun book to read! I liked the actual character growth and dimension, and just plain enjoyed this book. Granted, my expectations were super-low, and it is just fluff reading, but it was darn fun fluff!
Morgan has been outed as the Hollywood starlet living in Fort Wayne Indiana. Now she's torn between her new life and the glitter of her old Hollywood existence. But Hollywood holds dark secrets that Morgan isn't ready to face, and she isn't sure about herself, Eli, or where home is now.
Girl who was a very popular actor has been sent to a small town to get sober and write about her year long ordeal in a journal--to be made into a book later. Finds friends, etc., until there is a big blow up at the end. This was an okay book. There has to be a part 2.
Lightweight and likable book about a young actress. She leaves rehab and goes to live with a family friend in small town Indiana. The story revolves around her adjusting to her new life, making friends, light romance, and the threat of having her identify revealed.
I really like Lola Douglas style of writing. She makes me feel like i am the character. The only downfall is that it was all dialogue even though I would like a little more of other peoples opinions. It was a lot about the main character and not about what the other people said. Other than that great book.
Pretty good. It seemed to be almost an exact copy of Secrets of my Hollywood Life, but True Confessions included that the main character used to be a drug addict. I don't know which book was published first, but they were like, clones. Seriously. Mostly.
Teen movie star Morgan Carter retreats to Fort Wayne, IN, to attend H.S. anonymously after months of rehab. Things get complicated (duh) but most characters are believably complex, Morgan (aka Claudia) doesn’t become angelic, and the story is totally fun.
After months of rehabilitation, Morgan is ready to come back into the world as the teenage starlet that she is. Her mother has other ideas. Morgan's mom sends her to Fort Lame, Indiana to spend one year as a normal high school junior. Morgan is to pose as Claudia Miller, a girl that the students know has a past. But not the past they are thinking of. Morgan is scheduled to write a book after her year of normalcy and make the hugest comeback Hollywood has ever seen. But can she survive her year i...more
This was a very fun little book about a Hollywood starlet who gets out of rehab and goes into hiding in a Midwestern high school. Predictable, sure, but lots of fun, and I liked it more than I expected to.
Light and entertaining sequel about a young actress spending a year as a "normal" high school junior in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I'm surprised there is not another volume to the story.
i really enjoyed reading this book. the main character has a unique personality. this book is fill with teenage issues that many average teenage has faced. it involve a sense of humor
This book was really good- when i first read it a couple of years ago, I loved it, and now every year or so I reread it! Not good enought to deserve a five, but definitely a four!

When she was five, Lola Douglas wanted to be an actress like her then-hero, Drew Barrymore. Instead, she became a supermarket checkout girl, a video store clerk, an administrative assistant, a features reporter, and a textbook development editor before deciding that writing teen novels was her real forte.
