Very quick read...I got it done in two days! A lot of mystery...a couple gruesome parts (if you are a visual person like myself you can only imagine what it would be like). Keeps you guessing til the end...unless I'm just real slow on the uptake.

Good solid read. Kept me going all the way through, and I must admit, made me squirm on the last ten pages.

I usually like Hoag. The mystery in this is good, but the main character, Elena Estes is obnoxious.
I am not the type of person who has to like a character to like them. I mean like in terms of, like to have tea with them or something. Some of my favorite characters of all time are awful people and I detest them, but they're compelling. . . There is nothing compelling about Estes.
She is whiny and mean spirited and so terribly sorry for herself. She is the type of person who loves their ...more

Wow! This is the follow up to Dark Horse, which I was also "wowed by." I've read all of Tami Hoag's mainstream releases and feel that she's hit her mark with her character Elena Estes. Elena is edgy, sarcastic and fearless, but has a tender side for those she feels warrants it. I found that even the smallest details of a premises search kept me glued to the page. The dialog was captivating, and the description of the worlds of Polo and Dressage were written by someone in-the-know. This...more

Great book...although I didn't realize that I should have read Dark Horse 1st. Oh well...I am looking forward to more of Elena Estes' adventures.

Elena Estes is living and training horses for a living. But a fellow groomer, Russian girl Irina, is found dead. Elena has to investigate and runs into her former fiance, Bennett Walker and all his good old boys club. (The alibi club - named for a good reason ). Who killed Irina and why? Who is next?

It was a good book. I enjoyed seeing Elena again. I have already read the next book with Elena in it.

It's not one of my favorites by Tami Hoag. All the characters seem to be arguing with each other and one-upping one another for no particular reason. It felt as if I were reading one very big angry novel and it really didn't have to be like that. There weren't too many characters that were easy to like and therefore made the plot harder to get into.

Finding her friend’s killer puts Elena (the main character) at odds with her old life, with her new lover, and with herself. But she is determined to reveal the truth...a truth that will shock Palm Beach society to its core, and could very well get her killed. This story line will keep you breathless and more than satisfied! A must read.

The main character is sarcastic, irreverent, edgy and fearless. Elena Estes is a former detective, now horse rider/trainer, who discovers the dead body of a beautiful Russian groom. Soon she becomes intangled with the Russian mob members, the elite of Palm Springs and ex-husband. A good read.

I have read other books by Tami Hoag and enjoyed them, but I cannont recommend this one. It was too predictable and too gruesome for my taste. I also felt like she just wasn't sure what to do with some of her characters as she was nearing the end of the book, so they just fizzled.

I enjoyed the main character Elena Estes. I wasn't caught up in the murder mystery so much as Elena's struggle to deal with old ghosts. It was also interesting to get a view into the culture of the ultra-rich, noting that the plot didn't allow for any "positves" to be mentioned.

Pretty good light mystery. This is the second book with Elena Estes who is an ex-socialite, ex-cop working as a groom in a rich man's stable. This book is about a group of polo enthusiasts that give each other alibis for their indescretions, in this case of course it's murder.

I've always liked Tami Hoag - the others I have read are about the deep south. This takes place in Florida - the hero is a former wealthy daughter, former cop, currently very bitter person who takes on the untouchable wealthy men in south Florida.

This is another mystery that I thought I would keep me interested in the car. I actaully did not like it. It was quite boring and I had figured out "who-dun-it" right away. I am going to stay away from crime mystery from now on.

There is a certain group of books that are good to read in airports and on airplanes. This book fills the bill. It would also be a good beach read, as long as you don't mind reading about murder while at the beach.

I started this book about a week before I got Harry Potter. Didn't get to finish it, as someone else had requested it from the library, so I couldn't renew it. I checked it out again though and hope to finish it this week.

I didn't realize that this was a sequel to Dark Horse. Great characters again and love Elena Estes. I like Hoag's ability to keep me guessing, I didn't know who the killer was until the end. Great fast read.

Continuation of Elena Estes' story from Dark Horses (I think that was the title). A good mystery (interesting twist at the end) and the Elena character is an arresting one - you can't help but feel for the woman.

somewhat angsty, but the main character is brash and funny in a cynical and sad way. the story was interesting and there wasn;t too much of a lag. the chapters were short which made it easier to read.
