I have had this book on my nightstand for the last month or so and I have just not picked it up to read....I think I just needed a break from all the thrillers I had been reading. With that said, I loved it! I highly recommend it, I thought it was one of the best I've read by Mariah Stewart. Plus, it drew in characters from other novels and tied up some loose ends. So glad I finally read it!

Disappointing write-by-numbers suspense novel. Forgettable two-dimensional characters, cookie-cutter dialogues and the inevitable hunter-turns-hunted ending.

A generic story that runs along straight rails, the destination visible from miles away.

The blurb lists several major awards won by the author.

Maybe I was unlucky to pick one of her less inspired efforts.

Tried to be more than it was with unnecessary twists and turns when it should have been focusing on character development.

This was a quick read for me. The twist at the end surprised me, but was pretty weird! Worth the read.

Very ugly setting for a romance novel; the juxtaposition between evil and romance was too severe.

I really enjoyed this book. Interesting plot and lots of twists and turns. A few of the twists I saw coming before they happened but the book still had plenty of suprises. Part of the story does involve some descriptions of child abuse,So I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone that can't handle that. I found the story to be very engrossing and I liked the way the main character seemed to evolve the deeper she got into the case. I give it a solid 4 stars and can't wait to see what Mariah Stewar More...

The plot was good and the storyline was well done, but the characterizations fell somewhat flat in the book. I just really didn't get into Portia's story much, and I also didn't really like her that much as a character.

This was just an OK read.

Mariah Stewart always delivers a great story. What I like is the continuation of characters with the addition of new characters. There's always a good storyline, and this one really kept me guessing with a surprise ending!

An intense mystery/suspense that cuts to the heart when justice goes head to head with family emotions concerning missing children. Mariah Stewart has yet to disappoint me in her story's.

Good suspense with romance thrown in for good measure! This features characters from some of her other trillers but this can be read as a stand alone story.

An easy enjoyable book. Great to read on an airplane or a rainy day. Quick, simple and nothing heavy about it. The type of book I love to take on vacation.
