I found him in the slave market on Orpheseus Prime, and even on such a god-forsaken planet as that one, their treatment of him seemed extreme.

He may be the last of a species whose sexual talents were the envy of the galaxy...

Cat is an enslaved warrior from a race with a feline gene that gives him awesome beauty, fearsome strength, and sensuality and sexual prowess unmatche...more

I have read some weird stuff in my time. But nothing...and i do mean NOTHING compares to Slave by Cheryl Brooks.

This first book in the Cat Star Chronicles, is a mixture of erotica and sci fi...two of my favorite genres. And while the mix SOUNDS good in theory, in this case it just did not work.

Basically the premise is this: Jacinth is an 'intergalactic trader' who buys a slave - who possesses more than a few feline qualities, and is nicknamed Cat - to help assist in her mission to free her kidn...more

I give the author bonus points for creative and colorful. A futuristic romance and intergalactic sibling hunt; the world-weary heroine seeks to purchase a male slave to assist in what she hopes to be the final leg of a long search for her kidnapped sister. The exotic hero quickly becomes an ally, and the adventure is on.

This story does not finish as strong as it begins, and left me feeling disappointed. Some of the wording is awkward. The heroines character is inconsistant and shifts from seaso...more

While completely ridiculous and parts of it I thought a little over the top, I was completely addicted to this book and thought it was a lot of fun.

I actually enjoyed this book and found it very funny. I also found it pretty darn hot! I really need to get myself a Zetithian as their 'fluids' cause orgasms once they hit mucous membranes! Now that's a handy trick!! The sex didn't quite hit the erotica zone for me, nothing I can put my finger on (hah hah) though.

Jacinth is on a mission to find her kidnapped sister. She's spent six years traveling around space just missing her each time. Now she's got a really good lead, but there's just one pr...more

Slave by Cheryl Brooks wasn't bad, but wasn't great. I agree with many of the other reviewers here. For one thing, much of the dialogue was made up of cliche`s masquarading as old Earth sayings, and while a few are fine, it got aggravating after awhile. For another thing, her depiction of Cat was a little too much, well, like a cat. I get that he had feline genes, but I have seen other authors use this concept much more effectively. Perhaps it is just me, but I expected him to be more dominating...more

Slave is definitely not the book for every romance reader. And it is definitely not the book for most sci-fi readers. Slave is the kind of book you get when you have a rabid Star Wars fanatic with a runaway imagination and a taste for erotica. You've been warned.

Jacinth, better known as Captain Jack, is in the market for a slave. Not just any slave will do. She needs a man, one who can clean up nice enough to pass as her master and not stab her in the back. Six years ago, Jack's sister Ranata w...more

there should be an option for less than one star. there is no reason for anyone to read this book. i even tried. i got to page 171 before i just couldn't put up with it anymore. from the excessive and tacky and gauche overuse of exclamation marks, to the irritating and shallow heroine, to the way the author decided to invent problems in order to invent lame solutions (oh, your boots don't fit? why didn't you tell me, i have a machine that makes shoes right here, right now!). don't bother with th...more

I saw this book on sale for 1.99 and impulsively decided to purchase for my reader based on the synopsis and without checking goodreads...last time this will ever happen. This was one of the worst books I've read in quite a while. The book is short, so I was able to finish yesterday evening before bed, but it was very painful to read.

The book is 1st person POV, which I really don't mind most of the time, but since I absolutely hated the thought process of the heroine(Jack), I had a hard time re...more

Free Kindle download, and just a bit too weird and alien for me. It's meant to be a sexy book, but given all the anatomical differences between the human male and the heroine's cat-like alien lover, it was too kinky for my taste. The science fiction part of it is of course completely non-science-based, and there's no serious commentary on society as you might find in other science fiction that isn't really science-based. So I think the world-building in this book exists solely to provide some co...more

I'll be honest, I didn't read the whole book.
Why?

1. The main female character is Amazon-like and portrays herself as a guy in the first few chapters. She must be more manly than feminine because she fools everyone.
Not my idea of a leading lady...

2. Imagine you are a male slave with cuff restraints on your neck, wrists, ankles and groin area(head of penis and testicles). And you have been whipped, so you have sores along your back and who knows what kind of lice live on you. Covered with crusted...more

If you're looking for a good sci-fi read, this isn't the book for you. If you're looking for a good romance, this isn't the book for you. If you're looking for something a little smutty, a little cheesy, and very odd, then this may be the book for you!

This was a free ebook download. The reviews/synopsis state that our male hero is the last of a feline-type alien species with some very *erm* interesting attributes to his genitalia (including, but not limited to, a built in French tickler and copi...more

I have mentioned a few times that fantasy romance- stuff on other planets etc., was never my cup of tea and I avoided it as much as possible. I am so glad to share that I have completely changed my mind! I just finished Cheryl Brooks "Slave" and loved it. Again, I've got spoilers in my review so if you don't want to know, stop reading now. :o)

Jacinth is on a one woman mission to find and rescue her kidnapped sister. She has been searching the far reaches of the galaxy for six years. Her sisters abductors always seem to be one step ahead of her. Her latest intel informs her of her current location. Jacinth wishes this was the end of the road. The problem is that the planet that her sister has been taken to doesn’t have any free women. All of the women on the planet are slaves to their males. Jacinth needs a male to help her now.

What did I just read? Really I have no idea. I think it was supposed to be space romance but I just thought it was Funny with a capital F! I didn't particularly think that the sex scenes were amazing (too weird) but the story was the real draw. I truly did not know what was going to happen next.

There is this one scene that will make you think about noses in a whole new light. I suppose most of the book's charm is the totally unusual galaxy that she created with odd quirks like that. The nose on...more

My mother always said that if you can’t say anything good, don’t say anything at all. Book reviews are exempt from this rule, because I think potential readers need to know what novels they should avoid. This is one of them.

I honestly thought the story had some potential. I wasn’t expecting an award-winning novel, but I thought it might be a fun read based on a cheesey trope I secretly love. I really couldn’t have been more wrong. It’s probably the only book I’ve read that’s worse than Evangelin...more

I stumbled onto this series by accident but really wanted to try something new and different and thought this would be an interesting series to try!

Cat is an enslaved warrior from a race with a feline gene that gives him awesome beauty, fearsome strength, and sensuality and sexual prowess unmatched by any other males in the universe. Even filthy, chained, and beaten, he gives off an aura of power and virility. Jacinth (Jack) is an intergalactic trader on a rescue mission.

The only reason I finished this book is the same reason people stare at horrible traffic accidents. I just had to. Very weak story even for a romance. The heroine is annoying as hell.

spoiler alert:..............

At one point in the novel the heroine is undercover as a slave with her companion to rescue her sister who was captured years prior. She allows men of the planet to line up and ejaculate over her nose and finds it funny that the men of this planet find her nose so fascinating. I almost t...more

This book was okay. I liked the futuristic setting and both the H/h, but the writing style was odd. It was written as though you were sitting with the narrator, the heroine Jacinth, as she told you the story of her life -- how she met and fell in love with her mate, Cat while she searched the galaxy for her missing sister. It had a sort of stream of consciousness style to it and many tangent were wandered down, which makes sense when someone is telling you a story because they don't have an edit...more

I did enjoy this book although not as much as I did "Stud" Cheryl's new release.

I enjoyed the love between Jacinith and Cat, but it seemed to develop a little too fast for me. I loved the storyline, Jacinith better known as Jack lost her sister Ranata to the horrible Newduts. They captured her and sold her into slavery. Jacinith has been searching for Ranata for six years, and when she finally gets close she finds out Ranata has been moved to a planet where all women are slaves.

In order to go to...more

ok, got the first three books in the series as a bundle - slave, warrior and rogue. i'm going to do a cut and paste for my reviews because frankly, all three have become muddled in my mind as one large pile of sludge.

ohmigod. what an absolutely weird (and not the good kind) premise. a race killed off, their planet destroyed, because the male of the species offer the most insane orgasms merely by touching their pre-cum. their actual cum - why, you can't even manage the pleasure. add in the ruffle...more

Looks like this one gets given away by the publisher on a regular basis. There are 6 books in the series now, each featuring a different Zetithan slave, so giving away book 1 probably works well. I picked it up as a free read after reading the exerpt (most of chapter 1). I don't read much het romance anymore, but I liked the character of Jacinth (Captain Jack) and decided to give it a chance.

It was an enjoyable read and I'll probably buy more of the series eventually - I don't think they are go...more

This book was well and truly awful. I mean not just bad, but really and honestly horrible. It started out great, great premise, showed lots of promise, but things just went way downhill. A ruffly penis, waist length GORGEOUS curly hair, purring, magic semen (called "snard" for crying out loud), the constant dripping of "coronal fluid" crazy dress-code, nose f*cking (yes, you read that right), public sex, partner sharing, you name it lol

And, to top it off, it was written in a very rambling first...more

Where to start with this book? I’ll just start with it was so damn strange, just bizarre to the extreme. So the most blaringly strange is Cat our hero. He has definite feline qualities such as the cat like eyes and a feline grace, he purred and would curl up like a cat. So its not the eyes or the grace that was necessarily weird, I am used to those qualities with shifters in other paranormal books. I think it was more the purring and “curling up like a cat” while in a human form, he do...more

I don't know if it's just me but you can sure tell this is a first book. The heroine Jacinth travels space as a trader while she's looking for her sister. She uses slang that goes from westerns to 1980s films and uses them so much I wanted to scream. It's constant. And she even mentions that she taught herself all of these slangs but to use them all the time, every other sentence, I started not paying attention to the plot and was fighting to finish this book. And Cat, he's very non-male/non-ass...more

definitely an erotic book but it was more than that... it was romance and scifi... it took you to strange worlds with strange customs... some slightly porney... but i liked that it wasn't just like they met and decided to jump into bed... although Cat was definitely all for being her little love slave but Jack wanted more than that... as well as nothing was going to distract her from finding her sister that was kidnapped 6 years ago... after searching the galaxy she is so close to finally findin...more

Ok let's see...I'll start with what I liked: The world building was nice, if completely unbelievable and almost but not quite original. The main male character was likeable.

What I didn't like: It's told in the first person. Sometimes I will get into a book enough that first person doesn't bother me but this was not one of those times. There were many things that occurred that were just plain silly. For example nose sex. Yep, you read that right, nose sex. The thing that bothered me the most the...more

I struggled with the rating on this one. I really wish we could give half stars and would have given it a 3.5. I accidentally read the 4th book in this series first and absolutely loved it! With Slave I loved the characters Jack and Cat. Also the creativity of the world is amazing. I don't read very many sci-fi books mostly paranormal however I think Cheryl Brooks with her creativity has me thinking about more sci-fi reads. I think with this being the first book in the series and the world build...more
