Ahhhh...there aren't enough superlatives to adequately express how much I loved this book! You know how it is when you're reading a book and everything just 'clicks' for you? You love the characters, you love the dialogue, you love the supporting characters, you love the plot...you even love (to hate) the villain? And you don't want to put it down--in fact, you can't find a good place to stop when you have to (when life gets in the way), but you try to draw it out and make the book last as lo...more

Opening Line: "It was business as usual at Bali Hai Casino on the Vegas strip, which meant that every nut job and wacko who could arrange bail was on the prowl."

WHISPER NO LIES is another thrilling instalment from Cindy Gerard’s Black-Ops series and with each book better than the last this is a great ride. Skilfully whisking us away to yet another exotic location Gerard gives us a kick butt heroine this time to go along with the daring roof top rescues, shootouts, explosion...more

5+ stars – Romantic Suspense

Uber delicious, flirtatious, affable, sexy, playboy charmer, Texas cowboy stud, and ex Special Forces soldier turned mercenary with an underlying heart of gold, Johnny Duane Reed + spitfire, kick-ass, pixieish heroine Crystal Debrowski + taut, intense, high-octane action and thrilling suspense = the best (and my favorite) book in Cindy Gerard’s awesome, top-notch Black Ops military romantic suspense series! Big 5 stars!

Cindy Gerard is a real master when it comes to creating heat between her characters. Johnny Duane Reed and Crystal are both playas when it comes to the game of love and they have been playing with each other for awhile. But now that a drug lord has decreed that Crystal shall be his next woman and carted her off to Jarkarta without her permission of course. Johnny figures out real quick that Crystal means more to him then just a fun time in the hay when he blows into town.

Recommends it for: People who read and enjoyed the Bodyguard series
Enjoyed the story, writing and the two main characters--Johnny and Crystal--that were first introduced in an earlier book in this series. The Black Ops series spins right off the Bodyguard series. IMO, for maximum enjoyment I recommend reading the latter FIRST then the Black Ops because some of the characters from the Bodyguard overlap.

The book starts out in Las Vegas where Crystal (AKA Tinkerbell) is a security guard for a casino. She gets propositioned by an Asian warlord who wo...more

3rd in the series. The hero and heroine actually got together in the previous book, Take No Prisoners. I loved Johnny and Crystal's story. I loved that Crystal was such a kick*** woman who could take care of herself but didn't seem overly bothered that Johnny tried to take care of her anyway.

Recommends it for: romance adventure lovers
I hve loved all of Cindy Gerard's books that I have read, but this is one that I have waited for for a while. I first came to be interested in these characters in Take No Prisoner's. Johnny Duane Reed is in several of her books and now he has a book just about him and his on again off again lover Crystal. When Johnny visits his friend Sam Lang in Vegas he always sees his lover Crystal, who is also Sam's wife Abby's best friend. Crystal is abducted in this story and taken to Indonesia as a Sex Sl...more

Cindy Gerard sure knows how to write riveting romantic/suspense! The thrills start as soon as the book is opened and continue until the last page. The suspense aspect is believable and very well done. It was the romance aspect in this book that was a little hard to swallow. A couple of wham-bam,thank you, ma'm one night stands having been referred to, then suddenly when danger hits, they can't live without each other? Eh..... just not working as remotely realistic.

Another winner by Ms Gerard. I got up very early this morning and because I really wanted to read about Johnny I started this book straight away and several hours later I was still laying on my couch reading it and refused to move until it was finished.

This book had loads of action and both strong H & h. I was really looking forward to reading about Johnny and he didn't disappoint. From the glimpses we had seen of him in the other stories we could see that he was a player and committ...more

This is the 3rd book in Gerard's trilogy (at least a trilogy so far as we know). Still not as good as book 1 but I did like it. Solid B. The only thing that I can really say that turned me off on it was our hero's "I'm just like my old man and so I'm not good enough for her" whine fest toward the end.

Vegas casino employee is abducted by Indonesian mafia-type leader to be his sex-slave & is rescued by her on-off non-commital Special Ops lover who's realizing he cares for her. Due to heroine's need to help, both go back to scene-of-crime to rescue another abducted American girl who happens to be a General's daughter.

I was surprised I liked this Gerard book better than the previous book in the series, Take No Prisoners. I knew the heroine & Hero was sexually promiscuous based on the...more

I know I am going to sound like a broken record, but I adored this book. Johnny and Crystal were so perfect together. What started out as an occasional "have sex for a good time & then walk away" quickly moved into romantic territory that neither one of them was really prepared for. I think Crystal being kidnapped and almost lost to the underbelly of sexual slavery was the beginning of the wake-up call for Johnny. When he realized how close he came to never being with her again, he...more

WOW!! All I can say is wow!

This story had me so on edge & freaked out that I had to set it down a couple times! I kept going back to it, but Wow!

Crystal, the daughter of a retired sherriff of the LVPD, works for a Las Vegas casino as a securitys manager. She is propositioned by a chinese gangster godfather & turns him down. A few days later she is charged for grand larceny, when under her watch, $200,000 disappears, counterfit $20's appear & counterfit chips make their wa...more

Another solid entry in the series. Crystal and Johnny met in the last book. Crystal is in casino security and Johnny is a member of the Black Ops team. They come together after Crystal is blackmailed by a mysterious Asian suitor who attempts to lure her into his service. When she outright refuses him, she lands in trouble at her casino, and dumped into the world of the Indonesian sex slave industry.
I loved the chemistry between Crystal and Johnny. Very playful and sexual. There's a ...more

I really like this series...although, I accidentally skipped over the second book. The series, to me, is kind of similar to Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooter series. And really, you can't beat that series...it's one of my favorites! However, this series is kind of great. The Black ops and the nitty gritty details of the missions. Love it. The intense relationship between Johnny and Crystal's characters added to my enjoyment.

I loved Crystal's character. I get tired of the wome...more

Crystal Debrowski manages security at a Vegas casino, when a high roller wants to get to know her better, she refuses his advances and that takes a very dangerous turn. Johnny Duane Reed who can't keep Crystal off his mind, enlists his Black Ops, Inc for help to find Crystal.

I won Cindy's contest to be a character in her book and I want to thank Cindy again for the honor. For me, this book was even more entertaining because it was such a joy to read my name as a character and be...more

Crystal is a security guard at one of the hotels in Las Vegas. She is accused of embezzling & putting counterfeit money in its place. The people that framed her are Yao Lin and his entourage. That evening, they kidnap her from her apartment & take her to his country, Jakarta, to be one of his sex slaves. She befriends another slave girl, who is about sixteen years of age.
Her 'boyfriend' hears about this situation & where she is. He & his fellow BOI's fly to Jakarta and rescue her and the o...more

Another great story to add to the series. Another great hero and heroine, ably assisted by the secondary players and one scumbag villain. The hero is drop-dead gorgeous, smart and knows it and the heroine is a take-no-prisoners, sassy, hardnut in the body of a "showgirl", and they can't keep their hands off each other. As in the two previous books the writing is so real, particularly the descriptions of the characters emotions, that you can almost reach out and touch them. The action s...more

Cindy Gerard is the *sigh* Queen. I think it has become a habit of mine to finish one of Cindy's books, place my Kindle down and just let out a big, heartfelt sigh.

Her suspense novels are sledge hammer - hard hitting. They knock me for six when it comes to the continuous adrenaline rush and heart palpitating romance. I love them all. Whisper No Lies included.

Johnny Duane Reed has always held a soft spot in my heart. From the last book in the Bodyguard seri...more

Crystal Debrowski has got it all – the red, pixie hair, the big boobs, the mile-long legs. Many envy her good looks, but it’s those same looks that have made her a target of an Indonesian bastard named Yao Long.

Yao wants Crystal as his slave. His sex slave.

When Yao’s second-in-command, Wong Li tries to proposition Crystal on behalf of Mr. Yao, Crystal gives the two the one-finger salute. It isn’t until her job is in jeopardy and she...more

It's an other winner for Ms Gerard. I haven't read all of her Bodyguard series but her Black Ops series is without a doubt so much better. Not only for the stories but for the characters too.

Gabe & Jenna (protagonist in the first book) are still my fav couple but Johnny & Chrystal are tough competition. You would think that matching together two people who's afraid of commitment, a flirty clown(or like Ms. Gerard wrote; an hey-baby kind of man :p)and a "pixie" who can play...more

Johnny Reed and Crystal Debrowski have been dancing around each other since TAKE NO PRISONERS when they both were round up to help Sam and Abby. Since then they’ve been having some sort of sexual relationship. Whenever Johnny's in town he looks Crystal up for a quick romp in the sack and then leaves again to go do what he does. Crystal is okay with it since she is just as not ready to commit as Johnny is. Things change when some creepy Chinese rich guy propositions Crystal a...more

I rather liked this addition to the Bodyguards/Black Ops series. It wasn't perfect. There was one area I thought could have been better, but other than that, I enjoyed it. Both the hero and heroine kicked butt, the story is a bit heart-wrenching, and it kept me reading cover to cover.

3rd in the Black Ops Series. Johnny Duane Reed and Crystal Debrowski.

Johnny is a pretty boy and playboy. Crystal, aka Tinkerbell, is a redheaded pixie who looks like she could be a bimbo, but really has a brain and brawn to go with it.

When Crystal is kidnapped by Yao Long to be his sex slave, Johnny takes off for Indonesia to save her. He is unsure why he is so drawn to her, but he follows along anyway.

Not my favorite of the series so far, but still really good as far as the plot goes and the action.

I really liked Crystal since her introduction in the second book, and now she gets to play a major role and snag herself one of the BOIs. Her toughness came as a huge (and welcome) surprise. The ending is especially impressive.

As for Johnny Reed, I think the most enjoyable part of this story was seeing the biggest player of the group get tamed by a little pixi...more

My favorite of the Black Ops series. I know there is one more to come, but I don't think even Joe Green can top Johnny Duane Reed in the alpha hero stakes. There's just something about his cool Texas charm that makes him irresistable. And Crystal Debrowski, his kick-ass heroine, is pretty gorgeous too. Cindy Gerard was on fire when she wrote this, and that's saying something. I've never been dissapointed by any of her stories but this was one I just didn't want to see come to an end.

I really like most of Cindy Gerard's books however this one fell a little short. I felt like she didn't really develop the characters. This is the first book I have read of this series so I wasn't familiar with any of the other characters however I felt like the two main characters I should have been able to have a connection with. I didn't. I got the feeling that the author wanted to write about the sex slave trade and that's fine but develop it a little further. There wasn't enough details abo...more

Johnny Duane Reed: one hot Black op! And as handsome and confident as he seems to be one sassy little redhead, Crystal, has brought him to his knees. When Crystal is abducted by a sex slave, arms trafficking bad guy, Johnny calls in his team of BOIs and the action is non-stop! Cindy Gerard creates fabulous characters and places them in suspense-filled situations that keeps your heart pumping!

This book starts out with Crystal Debrowski at the casino where things are going wrong, such as counterfeit money is used. She was accused of stealing by substituting poker chips at the casino. In the end Crystal and Johnny are together. This is the third book in the series. I would recommend this book to readers who are interested in romances and adventures.

The only thing Cindy had in mind when she started writing her first book was finishing it. The issue of actually selling it came much later. Only after she made that life-altering first sale did she realize that one book would never be enough. Now, over 20 books and numerous awards later, Cindy laughingly admits that she can barely remember life before...well, was there life before writing?
