Each year I share with my clients and friends a book that I believe will provoke their thinking in some way.
Shortly after Thanksgiving last year I found myself in a Starbucks Café with a steaming Americano on my table and seated next to a display of dark chocolate and merchandise. I had a 30-minute wait till my appointment arrived, so I began to page through the book titled, “5.” It’s a tool for planning your life five years out, filled with thought-provoking activities. I am a chart-the-course junkie, so this book is right up my alley. It is very similar in nature to other coaching-by-book volumes (see: Martha Beck and Stephen Covey) in that it asks you to identify those things that are important to you and points you in the direction of achieving them.
The one thing going for this version of that well-known exercise is that it is presented workbook style in about 60 colorful, big-print pages. If you are not one to slog though theory and background, and just...more

There was nothing earth shattering in this book, except it forced you to sit down and really think about your life, your goals, your passions, dreams and how to get there.

This book was really neat. I was surprised to win it but I was so glad I did. It made me look at my life in such a different light. I started to appreciate what I have more, to stop waiting for things to happen to me and make them happen for myself. I'm creating lists of things I want to learn, places I want to go and things I want to do. It's full of fun quotes and random facts about people improving their lives at all ages, not just in their youth. This book has made me excited about my life.
My boss gave everyone on our team a copy of this book and recommended we read it. I'm sure glad he did. It had some great ideas for inspirational things to do that I'd never thought of, and I read a lot of books like this. It's a very quick read (probably 45 minutes if you do it all in one sitting), but that's not the point. The idea is that it gets you thinking about where you want to go with your life.
Excellent short primer on dreaming and visioning. (Short on planning and implementing.) I enjoyed it and recommend it. P.S. Don't bother if you will not spend a few hours with the exercises.
This is a thought provoking read for people in various stages of life. It asks many questions and causes the reader to contemplate what they really want out of life rather than continuing to just go through the motions. The included exercises are something that everyone should continue to refine throughout their lives. We all have dreams and goals when we are young, but often lose track of them as we age and become distracted by the rest of our lives.
Good quotes
This was really neat! It's full of graphical text and asks thought-provoking questions on a bunch of the pages. Very motivational and good starter to provoke knowledge of what you want from life.
EVERYONE should read this book! It is a positive affirmation of life and how it should be lived with all the gusto available to you!
