recommends it for: people who need space in their comics
Finishing the trilogy of comics I borrowed from a co-worker earlier this month is probably the first DC comic I've read since The Death of Superman, whenever the fuck that was. Turns out it's pretty cool. Really really excellent art, really colorful characters (aliens, people who are just a head and a t-shirt, etc.), and they even go to space a couple times. I mean Batman and Spiderman and your other heavy hitters are great, but they never go to crazy other planets (as far as I know), so that wa...more

I didn't want to like this one--it commits what has to be one of the biggest transgressions in comic book continuity. (in my eyes, at least) It resurrects a character previously killed off. There are many characters that have been killed off by bad editorial decisions, but as far as I'm concerned, resurrecting them only makes for worse story telling. Green Lantern: Rebirth is an entertaining read, and a fitting resolution to the Hal Jordan-Spectre-Parallax saga. Most impressive about this story is its retroactive continuity: the explanation of why the power rings didn't work on yellow objects is one of the most creative retcons in the history of comics. This book is not advisable for those who aren't seriously up on their lantern lore - even those who are might get a little confused by the storytelling - but the art is good, and it'...more

Without knowing too much about Hal Jordan, at the time, besides what happened in Zero Hero I was subjected to the greatest Green Lantern story ever. While I had loved Kyle as Green Lantern, the mini series definitely showed why Hal is the best!

Fun, but despite what it set in motion, not actually as big and important and altering to the franchise as what's come more recently.

This book restored my faith in superhero comics.
