This is trilogy about a family of farmers living in the wild forests of Norway. It's a fine story which shows a lot of psychological and phylosophical thoughts of the characters and the way people are seeing and responding to prejudices. I read the first part of the trilogy: En eeuwig zingen de bossen. This part introduces two generations of Björndal people. The whole story describes the period between 1760 eand 1810.

The book started quite silly – I found – with a bear threatening a hamlet, and the Bjørndal people with their deep rooted conflict with the people from the plains, like a kind of fairy tale. However, this book turned out to be a very valuable story. The characters playing in it have a lot of profound thoughts, feelings and inner conflicts.
