It seems pretty misguided to put out a book of poetry that spans a period of five or six years, because it starts out when the author doesn't really have his voice yet. In the beginning he's stuck in all the self-indulgent broetry cliche' (she likes my scars/I drink/I feel pain). But by the time you get to the stuff he wrote around 2005/2006 he's pretty damn good, especially when he's telling stories in his prose poems. As I read this book It felt like i was reliving my childhood. Very intelligent read.
It came to Portland from Kentucky. Nicely buzzed collection of Americana.
