Part One Review Only

Topaz is a very special cat, he is a Conjure Cat, this is a cat who can do magic....oh and he can talk too! He sadly is the last of his kind though, so he was not taught how to properly use his magic. He now lives with a King and cares about him very much. The King has been sick lately and Topaz has made sure to be near. This doesn't stop him from taking a journey away from the king though, to try and find out where some missing Fairy and

This book is written by a friend of mine. My 10yo son read and loved it! Here are his reviews:

Part 1: Topaz and the Evil Wizard
I loved this first half of this book. It was great. My favorit(sic) part was when Topaz battled the evil wizard and discovered his powers have evolved already. I love your writing. I hope that you write some more with topaz the conjure cat. I loved topaz. I love the cover. It's make believe but real lif(sic) at the same time.

Part 2: Topaz and the Plum-Gista Stone

Recommends it for: Children advancing up to chapter books in their reading level.
Topaz and the Evil Wizard is a cute little chapter book suited for children advancing from picture books to chapter books. The language is simple enough for younger readers, and the chapters are short enough for smaller attention spans. The story itself is engaging enough for children around ages 6-8. I felt some scenes were a little too graphic for this age range, but that could just be the overprotective mother in me. For the most part, however, this is a good little book for the age range it ...more
Vickianne Caswell
Pat Frayne is the author of Topaz and the Evil Wizard. The story starts in Knownotten Kingdom where a young fairy girl named Orange Blossom can't find her brother. Topaz, a Yellow Conjure Cat, steps in and finds her brother but when he does things take a turn and other events happen... I loved how this book was suspenseful, I couldn't wait to find out what would happen next. I found the story very interesting as the story said more about Topaz.

What a magical and fun-filled read! I absolutely adored this tale of a Conjure Cat and the adventure he goes on to help rescue fairy and elf children from the clutches of an evil troll. From the beautiful cover, to the wonderful illustrations and layout within, this book was a complete pleasure to read. The entire time I was immersed in this story, I couldn't help but think of classics such as The Wizard of Oz or Alice in Wonderland, because this book gave me the feel of a timeless classic.
