5++ stars – Historical Romance

Forever together and yet always apart.....

WOW, just WOW! I absolutely loved this! Seduce Me At Sunrise is a beautiful, evocative, sensual, moving, and lush romance of forbidden love, powerful yearning, and long-denied desire between two star-crossed souls. Although dark, cold, hardened, mysterious gypsy Kev Merripen and sweet, fair, innocent, well-bred Winnifred Hathaway might appear to be opposites, they've shared an intrinsic bond and deep More...

I'm on a winning streak with these Lisa Kleypas books--5 Wallflowers books and now 2 Hathaways--and all were FABULOUS! I know I'm pretty easy to please, but I am loving every word of these two series!

There's oodles of great reviews for this book, so I'll just give some of my thoughts...

OMG, the 'gypsy' Kev Merripen has got to be the all-time most stubborn hero in all of Romanceland! His I'm-not-good-enough-for-you and I-don't-deserve-you attitude drove me bonkers so man More...

The more Lisa Kleypas novels I read, the more I really wish for a time machine. But only if I was able choose which heroes I could visit. Kev would be first on my list… well, in the top 10, anyway. What a wonderful, amazing, incredibly tortured soul he possessed. I really found no fault in him at all because all of his actions and reactions were based in the reality of the child he was and the man he became. Everything he did, no matter the emotional or physical pain it caused him w More...

I still have a sappy smile on my face! "Seduce Me at Sunrise" is one of the best historical romances I've read this year starring one of the most tortured heroes. This 2nd book in Lisa Kleypas' 'Hathaways' series brings us the story of the wild Rom boy, Kev Merripen, and his journey to love with Winnifred Hathaway.

Winnifred has loved Kev since the day he came into her home when she was still a young child. Her understanding and care of the feral boy hasn't made living wi More...

If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would.
It has been years since I have read a Lisa Kleypas novel. I admittedly get stuck on a certain type of genre at times, and honestly stopped reading historical novels for a while. When I had the opportunity to read Seduce Me at Sunrise I jumped at the chance. Knowing that I have loved Lisa’s books in the past, I wondered if the magic was still there. It is. I had forgotten the lyrical way she tells a story. I forgot her addictive sto More...

This book dragged me in ~ Hook, line and sinker ~

Though I started this book first being the second in the series, I didn't feel confused at all. The book gave a good back history of the first novel to counteract that.

I will not go into a plot summary simply because there are oodles of those on here already. I will simply state my view.

What I think made me like this novel tonnes was, Win. S More...

Book 2 in the Hathaways is better than book 1 but not great like some of her other series. The writing is very good as usual, she has an incredible talent for bringing words to life without being flowery or “over-writing” a scene especially when it comes to describing the setting, and the steam is steamy but you have to wait a while to get to it and the getting there gets frustrating (not in a good way either). This latest installment didn’t really get me to care that much for Kev and Win as a More...

I think I'm one of the few people who like Mine Till Midnight better than this book! Not that I thought this book was bad or anything. Far from it. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but for whatever reason, I just like the first book in this series better.

I'll skip over doing a more in depth summary since plenty of other people have done that...

The storyline/romance for Seduce Me At Sunrise was set up in the previous book...a sort of forbidden love between Win and Merripen. I More...

Kev Merripen was taken in by the Hathaway family after he was beaten in an attack on his tribe and left for dead. Merripen almost immediately has a special connection with the Hathaway's third child, Winnifred. The sound of Win's voice has the ability to calm and soothe the restless gypsy boy as he is lying on his death bed. Merripen silently adores Win and grows to love her (from a distance). However, he refuses to reveal his true feelings as the years pass, determined to deny his own happiness More...

Have you ever rea da book that totally involves you inthe story and characters? I could not put this one down. I fell in love with Win. Although she looks fragile and has been sick she has an inner strength that is remarkable. The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars was Kev. Sometimes I just wanted to slap him and tell him to wake the hell up. But it was a great story and cannot wait till the rest of the series is published

Very pleasantly surprised that I liked it so well. I haven't read anything by Ms. Kleypas that was bad but the previous book "Mine Til Midnight" didn't WOW me like many of hers do.

So, this is the 2nd Hathaway's Story...
When I read the 1st, Mine Till Midnight, I love Cam, but I thought Merripen would be greater from many aspects, but money than Cam.

At the beginning, that feeling got more and more real. "Yes, I will love Kev more..." that's what I thought. But then, there's an incident(in about the middle), which made me REALLY dissapointed with Merripen... The scene at Simon Hunt's house. I thought it was really a big mistake! My feeling for him More...

I get all mushy and gushy for a great forbidden love story and this one was excellent. A completely tender tale with just enough tragedy and heat to make the struggle to happily ever after interesting and plenty of romance and real love to make me wistful and a little weepy. I blazed through this book in a day, and it’s not a short one… But every page made me compelled to read the next and the next. The Hathaway clan is more intriguing as they continue to grow and evolve and I am schoolgirl g More...

My cheeks hurt. I think I’ve been grinning off and on for the last seven hours. This is yet another book that I could not put down. Win and Kev are… I don’t know if I’d describe them as perfect for each other or simply exasperating! Mine till Midnight hinted at the couples’ attraction for each other, Seduce Me at Sunrise just built up on that some more.

There’s a lot of longing in this book. Longing is the perfect word to name what it is that they felt for each other. He had been lo More...

The verdict: TOTALLY HOT! Hahahaha.... Seriously though... YUMMMMM!!

ANYWAY, I really really liked this book. I was already invested in the characters after Mine Till Midnight, so of course I hated Dr. Harrow from page 1 (or HIS page one, anyway). The back of the book describes Harrow as "an attractive, seductive suitor". I remember zero seductiveness, just FYI. He's good looking, or whatever... but geez... NO, THANK YOU!

Merripen, on the other hand just O More...

A wonderful story. Win and Merripen were a great couple, and their story was fun and steamy in that traditional Kleypas style. This book is a big improvement from the previous book (Mine Till Midnight) which I did not like. Win could easily be one of my favorite Kleypas heroines as she was likable, smart, and best of all was willing to take risks without ever pulling a single TSTL moment. The rest of the Hathaways came across as more likable too, even the brother Leo who I loathed in the first b More...

Amazing book!! I LOVED it!! I did not want to put it down! It was a very well written book and I loved the way other story lines were written into it besides Kev and Win's story.
It will be tough deciding what to read after this story because I'm afraid it will be lacking in comparison to this book!

Clearly, I failed to read this book properly, the first time around. I'm not sure why, since it was wonderfully written and I loved all the characters. I think its because of the romance between Kev and Win. It was so frustrating, because they were already in love, but Kev kept back out.

Anyway, this story is about the 2nd Hathaway sister, Win, who has always been in love with Kev Merripen, the gypsy boy the family had adopted 12 years ago. Kev also loved her, but kept it restrained, More...

Ms. Kleypas has managed to impress me yet again. She writes some of the most beautiful, most romantic love stories I've ever read. And this one is up there on my list of premier Lisa Kleypas novels. Seduce Me at Sunrise has one of those love affairs that is so intense and enduring, how could I possibly not love it? Kev Merripen fell in love with Win Hathaway even before he saw her. The Hathaways took him in when he was found badly injured and left for dead, despite him being a Gypsy. They nur More...

Another keeper for my Kleypas bookshelf!

Confessions of a school librarian - I read light romantic historical fiction! Strong brave ladies - with a penchant for getting into trouble - and dark heroes who have a tendency to rescue the lady but usually both people have baggage from their pasts. Hmmmm, kinda reminds me of a certain "second life".

3.5/5 stars. As much as it pains me to admit this, mostly because I love Lisa Kleypas as an author, this book was an exercise in frustration for me. I typically can get really involved with a love story where the hero/heroine can't get together, or there is unrequited love. However, I couldn't get past the hero's sheer obstinate behavior in the book. His excuses for not being happy didn't sit well with me. I found it frustrating, and it made me not want to see Kev and Win together. *sigh* More...

I really enjoyed this book with the cooky Hathaways and who doesn't love not one but two sexy half gypsies. I liked Kev. I liked how tortured yet how in love he was with Win. I liked that Win's brother (who was grief stricken and considered a scoundrel) had to get Kev out of jail and admit to his own demons. It was a very touching scene. I liked that Win, now that she was healed was determined to live her life on her own terms. It was a really good book with nice tension and nice familiar, funny More...

This story begins just after the ending of Mine Till Midnight. Win has left for the clinic to make herself better and Kev is utterly devastated to be without her. Time warp forward two years and Win returns healthy (for the most part) and anxious to hear about Kev who was silent during those years. Kev has turned hard without Win, but when he sees her the old feelings come back. Naturally, there is another love interest involved as Win is a beauty. Secrets are finally told and much drama ensues. More...

Listen, Lisa Kleypas is good at what she does. Plain and simple. She writes the historical romance with such a great balance of heat, tender and achy romance, as well as wit and comedic timing. I've read the Wallflowers, her contemporaries, and now I'm getting to know the Hathaways and I love that I never have to doubt upon opening one of her books that it's going to be an enjoyable escape.

Did I want to punch Merripen several hundred times? Of course I did. My god, the man was stubborn More...

I just love the Hathaways. They are so fun and outrageous at times. From reading the first book we know that Merripen and Win are head over heels for each other but not telling a soul. The few times Win has tried to broach the subject with Merripen or Kev (his first name) he pretty much shuts her down. He feels that he's been to damaged in his life to ever be a good match for Win. And because of Win's run-in with Scarlet Fever she also has health issues.

So Win goes off to France for 2 More...

I'd just finished reading the first two books of a dark paranormal urban fantasy series, and I desperately needed something light before continuing. A little time spent with the Hathways was perfect. I read Mine til Midnight (the first of the series featuring Cam and Amelia) some time ago. This book picks up where that one leaves off. Kev and Win have been in love since they were children. Numerous obstacles keep the couple apart, some internal and other external, but love triumphs in the end. T More...

I have to say I wasn't a fan of this book. After reading the description I thought this would an epic romance, but to my disappointment it just fell flat. I didn't really feel the connection between the two characters enough.

For me it was impossible to have any connection with Merripen and I actually agree with him that he's not worthy of Win's love. <spoiler>The way Win found out that he'd slept with multiple women just really turned me off him. It wasn't that he was the 'broo More...

This is book two in The Hathaway series, I have to say this book was good and entertaining read. I started reading this one as soon as I finished book Mine Till Midnight.

This story revolves around Win and Kev; I’ve been looking forward to reading their story ever since I read the first book. They seem to be very intense characters; Kev is Gypsy, who was saved my Wins family. They found him by the river left for dead; Kev stayed with Hathaway family out of obligation for saving More...

This second book in the Hathaway series begins a few months after the first one ends. While I still enjoyed the story and all the characters, I have to admit I didn't like this one quite as much as the first.
Still, Kleypas has written well-developed characters and surrounded them with enough supporting characters and a great overall story arc. The personal story of Win and Kev is well-done, but I didn't love the hero quite as much in this one. He's a bit too uber-alpha male for my personal More...
