An invaluable tool for parents. I think my only caveat with this book is that Omartian gets me worrying a bit more than I should be for my child's welfare. Every parent loses sleep because of their child, and when their child sleeps all the way through the night, we're all wondering if they're dead or just kept awake by thoughts of what could happen to them in the moment we're not there for them. I also worry about screwing my kids up, which I think just because I'm their dad, I'm already doi...more

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book. I've prayed these series of prayers over my son his whole life, he's 9 now, and I've seen God pour extraordinary favor out on him time and time again. This is a child who rarely gets sick, he's kind, intelligent - almost always straight A's since Kinder, he's respectful, he doesn't get in trouble at school ... and I could just go on and on. I've told him repeatedly I'm blessed to know him because he's so wonderful. I pray for wisdom, and God gives it to him. If you ...more

This is a great book for people who have kids and want to raise them up as Christians. It is composed of short chapters each on a different topic that kids may face when growing up from liking yourself to not cursing. Each chapter is arranged with a short example from the author, scriptures that refer to that topic and an example prayer. It talks about the importance of prayer in your life and for your family. There is so much out there and, as a parent, all we can do is pray to keep our kids ...more

Read my review on "Praying Wife" to hear my thoughts on the author herself. I found the same writing style reading her next book "Praying Parent" as I did "Praying Wife". In regards to the actual content, these are my thoughts:

I found it much more relevant than her other book as all the prayer points relate to children generally, as opposed to being based on certain aspects of their life, depending on what they are doing/where they are at (which was the ca...more

My personal bookshelf has a copy of Stormie's "The Power of a Praying Wife" in which I clearly remember laying on the couch reading it, scoffing aloud and hearing my husband laugh at me for talking back at the book.

Stormie has great concepts, but she doesn't have a knack for writing! It's very hard for me to get through her books because they literally go on forever. It's like hearing someone tell you story after story and then telling you the lesson they learned which is...more

I have had my copy since 2002 and I still use it and read it. I find it helpful when I don't know where to start sometimes praying for my children. I love how she has so much scripture incorporated into her prayers as well for God has said that His word will not return void. I have seen God answer my prayers concerning my children. This book help me to realize that they belong to Him first and foremost and if anything I am to be faithful as a parent and leave the rest up to Him.

After devouring The Power of a Praying Parent I moved swiftly on to Praying Parent. All you have to do is turn on any form of reality crime show and feel that creeping sense of fear over the safety of your children when they step out your front door. This book will not only help focus you on the important aspects to focus on for your children's lives, but also give you a peace of mind that can only come from the Lord. Great book for any parent!

Our children need our prayers. The enemy is out to destory their lives because to stop them is to stop generations to come who will expose his darkness to a dying world and lead many to Jesus Christ. If you are discouraged and don't know what to do about your children this is the book to read. If your children are on the right path, don't get cocky. We still have to maintain. This is the book for you as well.

This is one of my favorite non-fiction Christian books. I've been humbled over the last fifteen years at how little control I have over my children's choices and actions. Prayer, when I follow the daily, active discipline, has allowed me to "let go and let God." I gave my copy of this book to a friend who really needed it, and Pam's review reminded me to buy another!

We need all the help we can get in this messed up world and I believe in the power of prayer. This book gives messages on character development, peer pressure, school, friends, relationship with God, family relationships, etc. and teaches you how to pray for our children (whether 3 or 35) - or, for your grandchildren.

I go back and re-read this book every couple of years or so and it's always such an inspiration to me and a wonderful reminder of where we as parents really need to keep our focus. I've read a couple of her other "praying" books and well and they are wonderful

Read this book a few years ago, but I loved it. (All of my highlighting and dogeared pages attest to what I thought of the book. :) ) We all need to learn to pray for our children better and more consistently and this was a tender reminder and encouragement for sure!

Any book on prayer by Stormie Omartian has always proved to be excellent... She's very down to earth, and optimistic at the same time. Has good knowledge of scripture, and doesn't take things out of context to suit her end.

I have prayed these prayers every day (1 a day) out loud with my kids for the last 15 years. The book is worn thin and we've memorized all the prayers, but they are still so meaningful and great!
Valerie
Another MUST READ for raising children in the direction they are meant to go. Even if you don't have children now, you can start praying for your future ones to come - God willing!

Excellent. It was so much more than I expected in a self-help book. The prayers after each section were applicable to all areas of life. I would like to purchase this book someday and keep it on the night stand as an everyday read.

there are so many things concerning your childrens life that you need to know and pray about not only that keep on praying for them until they reach their full maturity in knowing God.

Excellent, wonderful, practical, helpful book. Made copies of most the prayers for myself and gave the book all highlighted up as it was to my sister. Every parent should get a copy before leaving the hospital with their newborn.

Excellent Book to read for insight in ways to help your children through growing up without controlling their environment in ways you CAN'T! Leave it to GOD!!! He's can do it!!!

I feel bad giving this book two stars - the content was really deserving of more four stars, but the presentation (author's writing style) was a little too over the top for me so I ended up giving it two stars. I really liked the prayer suggestions (one for each day of the month) which were often things I hadn't thought of praying for my children. I will keep this book as a good prayer reference. It would be worth reviewing each year as some prayers are more appropo for different seasons of y...more

This is an excellent book to read. I have learned that if you are in a marriage and having some struggles in various areas this book is an encouragement.
