The sixth entry in L.J. Smith's Night World series, in which a hidden society of vampires, witches and shape-shifters exists alongside the human world, Soulmate follows the story of Hannah Snow, who begins to receive threatening notes - written in her own hand - as her seventeenth birthday approaches. As Hannah struggles with the incredible discovery that she is an "Old Soul," someone who was been reincarnated many times, she finds herself drawn into a deadly love triangle with Maya, t...more

Night World 6: Soulmate, by L. J. Smith

Hannah Snow has the perfect life - she's about to graduate from high school, she already has a college scholarship, and she even knows that she wants to be a paleontologist. But her perfect life starts to collapse when she finds notes that she doesn't remember writing, warning her of a dire event - "Dead Before Seventeen."

Increasingly disturbed by the notes and bad dreams, Hannah visits a psychiatrist. On her very first app...more

Soulmate is the sixth entry in LJ Smith's ambitious Night World series, which consists of nine books with an overarching story. Only at the end of this volume do the major themes of the series really begin to get underway. Unfortunately, the necessary development of these detracts from what, already, is only a mildly successful paranormal romance.

Sixteen-year-old Hannah Snow has been missing time. After these gaps in her memory, she finds notes--from herself, to herself--warning her ...more

Hannah Snow's life was perfect; she had everything a 16 year old could need, that is until she found the notes. She was warning herself even though she doesn’t remember writing them, and one of them said dead before 17. Scared she went to look for help, and found a psychiatrist named Paul. Even though she found help, things kept getting worse and their first session didn't go so well. She finds out she is the reincarnation of Hana of the three rivers and continues to find out about the night wor...more

This used to be my favourite book in the Night World series, tied for first with Spellbinder. I loved the way that reincarnation was approached, the idea that love could follow people through lifetimes, always calling back to each other and finding each other once again, even when both parties could well be vastly different than their previous incarnation.

Reading this book again now, I'm sad to say, ruined the story for me. It was very hard to keep the shine of happy nostalgia going ...more

Thierry is the first made vampire. When Maya turned him and he tried to find who he was, he found his soulmate. But he almost drained her and branded her and still she forgave him. Every time she was reborn, he was there. Even though she turned killed before seventeen and she started to hate him, he still loved her and tried to protect her from their enemy: Maya.

Now Hanah Snow is reborn in Montana and when she goes to Paul, who is a shrink, she finds that she has lived many lives befor...more

Mixed feelings about this one and, wow, that cover isn't helping matters. So glad I have a kindle so I can spare myself the shame of toting these books around.

For the negative - past life regression as a major plot device and regressing to the Stone Age....ugh.

For the positive - I like that this is the first book in the series that starts to tie some of the threads together from the previous books. I like that we get to learn more about Night World and its history. ...more

Soulmate is a great story. At first i was really confused as to what was going on and reading it hurt my head but thhe longer i read it i began to understand it. The story is about HAnnah and how she has had many past lives and in all of them she has died before her 17th birthday. The reson for this is because every past life shes had her soulmate finds her and kills her, at least thats what she remembers. But now that she's starting to remember the truth she's still a little shady about cert...more

Soulmate is book 6 of the Night World series. It centers around Hannah and Theirry. Hannah's a great student and well rounded with dreams of becoming a paleontologist. Everything seemed normal until she starts noticing messages written in her handwriting foreshadowing her death--before seventeen. She seeks help with a psychiatrist, but through therapy she gets visions (or are they memories) of former life in another time...and of a vampire (Thierry) who realized he loved her too late. Fast-for...more

Another addition to the Night World series; this one concerns Hannah and her previous life with her vampire soulmate Thierry. I love the concept of the Night World series, but my problem with the books is they always feel so rushed. Nevertheless, this is a fun piece of teen horror/romance.

I could not freaking put this book down. It was so good, I think I'll read it a few more times (I never re-read books haha). SO GOOD.

Brilliant story, brilliant storytelling. Great characters, a formidable villain. I loved the expansion of the lore in this one. Would totally recommend.

I think this one might be my favorite so far. I liked that they are bringing characters together from other books and you could definitely see they are finally moving somewhere with the mythology of these stories. The characters themselves weren't my favorite ones but I liked seeing aspects of Hannah's other lives.

eh, just as bland as i remembered it. if you identify with the hannah types, this book is probably great- the story is pretty interesting and not something you see all the time.

i do still love lupe quite a bit though ♥

Hannah is our usual kind-hearted and pretty tame damsel who is wanted by a vampire dude. However, the interesting bit in this one is concept of their love, which is unlike any of the others. We get some minor time-traveling in this one.

I love these books; they satiate my paranormal addiction with real believable characters. They have enough mystery, and excitement that I cannot put them down. There is enough romance to make them fun without being uncomfortable. I would have no problem letting my teen read these sweet stories. I have been able to find a message in most of them of becoming a better person in some way with a good ending. This is one of my favorite ones.

I can honestly say this one is one of my favorites of L.J. Smith's. It's so romantic with so many twists and turns that you don't even know who to like anymore... it's brilliant! I love it!
Astoria
my favorite of the Night World series. Thierry is jsut so adorabkle,a nd Hannah being an old soul and his soulmate can't help it but to want him, even if it means dead to her.

The book goes deeper into the "Soulmate principle", we learn about Maya's connection with Thiery, and more about him. He was briefly mentioned during "Secret Vampire" when Ash took Poppy to the party.

After finding the truth about her past deaths Hannah sets to Las Vegas to look ...more

I love this book and all of its Night World counterparts! Cute love story with a touch of horror. Recommend strongly to those who love the vampire genre.

A long-lasting love, a fight between opposing forces, and memories of times past made for a great time.

This book was fun, though the male main character could have been developed a little more.
Heidi
Significantly better than all the prior books in this series. Actually made me look forward to the next set.

This book opened my eyes to the prospect of reincarnation. Hannah Snow didn't realise that she was an old soul-reincarnated over & over until she could be with Thierry, Lord of the Night World. From here, I also discovered the origins of vampire & witch. Worth the read :)

This story showed that if you are willing to never give up, you will eventually prevail. Even if it takes a few centuries :)

Soulmate is the sixth book of L.J. Smith’s Night World series. The book wasn’t as good as the other ones. Now I clearly understand what all the Night World books really want to say. Okay. Sorry if it took me six books to realize what it was.
L.J. Smith did it again! Unfortunately this book was one of the most boring books of this series. Sorry. I’m not a fan of vampire+human=love. SORRY. And it was too pathetic when Maya, the first vampire, died. It was like WTH!? And the fact that a human...more

L.J. Smith recently changed her name because she got tired of being one of a googolplex of Lisa J. Smiths. Her attempts to get people to call her by her new name have not, so far, been successful. Despite initial disappointments, she will not give up the fight! She also wonders if many people out there realize that “smiths” were revered in ancient times for their ability to take bits of rock and m...more
