It was not worth reading this book. I really liked The Lily Theater, that's why I wanted to read this one as well. At the beginning I was curious on how the story would develop. Even though the style disappointed me I finished reading the book, only to discover in the end that it was not worth it.
I always love reading the books written by this author. Like her style of writing. Sometimes very straight and to the point, other times very colorful. But I always learn something from them and, as a matter of fact: I do not really care if the writing is according to reality. After all I'm reading a novel, product of the writers fantasy, not an encyclopedia. This time She took me on a journey to China with two faces: the modern city-face and the monastery-face. Heldere Maan by Lulu Wang is a wonderful poetic and romantic book.
I wish more of her work would be translated in English, so more people all over the world can enjoy her books.

When she was 18 she started to study the English language. In 1985, when she was 25 she moved to the Netherlands.

Her debut in 1997 was the novel "The lily theater"She currently lives in The Hague.
