I keep finding these gems of stories. Ones that I pick up thinking they're going to be all right and they end up being fantastic. Something Dangerous is one of those books.
One problem, that was easily overcome though, was that this is the second book in a trilogy, I didn't know that when I started reading it. I thought it was sort of weird how there were certain references made every once and a while that were being referred to as if the author knew what it was. Even so, I found t...more

So far, this is my favorite of the Penny Vincenzi Lyttons trilogy. It took me a little while to get into No Angel, and Into Temptation is kind of depressing. But this one is just right.
A lot of the plot twists in these books are pretty predictable--especially anything involving infidelity or pregnancy--but there still are some surprises and enough to keep you turning the pages.

This is the second book in the trilogy and I actually read it first. I didn't realize it was part of a trilogy. The things that were given away in this book really didn't even spoil it when I went back and read book #1. There was only one main issue that was known in this book that we didn't find out "for sure" till the ending of book one, but I think you probably would have figured it out anyway. I highly recommend both books in the trilogy and I plan to read the third as soon as I ca...more

I think what I like about these novels is that they take you through history, 'No Angel' was the early 1900's through WWI and 'Something Dangerous' through WWII. What appealed to me about this saga is that the backbone to this family is a women dealing with men in a 'mans' world. I am waiting for 'Into Temptation' to come in to my library to see what else the author can come up with.

This was one of my favourite reads I couldn't put the book down. Penny Vincenzi is an excellent writer, with excellent background research. Something Dangerous is set in London and takes you through both world wars, through the blitz in London. Its a story about a family run publishing company.

I enjoyed this one as much as the first. Draws you right in! Sorry that there is only one more in the trilogy. It is interesting to see another generation's take on things that happened in the last. My only complaint would be that I think Barty's character changed too drastically.

What a thoroughly entertaining novel! Draws you in from the first page and never lets you go. Follows a British family through their business struggles in the publishing business as well as through World War II. I found myself reading with a British accent by the end of the book.

I didn't know this was part of a trilogy, so I read this one first. Come to find out, No Angel comes first, this comes second, and then Into Temptation is last. It was the best trilogy though. The story lines and characters are addicting. I was really sad when it ended.

Although billed as "chick lit" I found this book really engaging. The characters are quite compelling and, if you are looking for a beach read or airplane book, I found it totally absorbing.
A friend just gave me her newest book, Sheer Abandon---am reading it now.

The soap opera/saga of the Lytton family that started in No Angel continues is this second book of the trilogy. Loved it ... enjoyed the drama of the family interactions and social lives. I moved immediately on to Into Temptation, the third and final installment.

This one picks up in 1928 and continues with the children as adults with more important roles in the story. Again very enjoyable saga where I learned a lot about history, especially about pre-WWI France and Germany, Hitler, and the British and U.S. roles.

I agree with everyone else. This was my favorite book of the trilogy. An intricate plot, an interesting historic time for both Britain abnd the US. The interplay of the characters from both countries at this time added to the plot.

I gobbled this book as greedily as the first, happily knowing I had the third of the trilogy awaiting me as I piggied my way through the second. Mmm, good tasty prose and delicious characters...

Went on vacation and picked this book up at a used book store, couldn't put it down for a week! Sucked me in with the beautiful writing, the history, and the family saga. Unbeatable!

Enjoyed this book more than the previous one. It picked up where the other left off, but if you hadn't read the other it was difficult to reestablish the characters.

Not your Pulitzer Prize winning book, but darn it's a good long read. You can start and stop often, but it's worth coming back to. This is the second in a trilogy.

Excellent follow up to No Angel. Vincenzi does a great job with the descriptions of the characters and you feel so absorbed when you're reading their stories.

I will be so sad to say good bye to the Lyttons; I'm so glad there is one more book in this trilogy. What a great series!

Not particularly profound but definitely a page turner. Read No Angel first and you will be hooked. Great beach reads.

Briskly delivered defense of adultery with some cut and paste incidents from history. Enjoyable.
