I didn't think I could possibly like this book as well as her first, "Left to Tell", but I was pleasantly surprised today. Where the first book covers her story during the genocide, this one picks up with her position at the UN and follows her life up to publishing her first book with all the tragedy and miracles she experiences along the way.

I read this book in less than 24 hours as the stories were so compelling that it was hard to put down. If anyone reads Immaculee's books without feeling her unabashed joy and tenacity for seeking God, their hearts are hardened. I cannot begin to think of the things that Rwandans went through in the mid-1990's, nor can I pretend my troubles are near that horrendous level. Immaculee's experiences and deep-seated need for forgiveness and repentance show me that it should be first and foremost my du...more
Led By Faith was a touching and inspiring story. This book encourages me to continue praying, believe and have faith. All things are possible with prayer and faith which also comes with great patience. When you pray your prayer might not be answered at your request but it will when God believes the time right.

After reading Left To Tell I had to read the follow up of Immaculee Ilibagiza's harrowing account of survival and faith during the Rwandan holocaust of 1994. What I found was a story that sometimes we never hear- of learning how to live again and how to live again in the midst of great loss and pain, make that indescribable loss and pain.
Well written and clearly told, Ilibagiza's story takes us into her challenging and overwhelming task of not just continuing to trust God but lear...more

This book one a picture of the genocide in Rwanda and one person's struggle to re-kindle her country, her faith and a sense of family. It is horrific, but also gives one a sense of reconciliation that a nation can find.
I actually have a few pages left to finish but I already know this is a spiritual classic for me and goes in my Top-Favorite file.
If you have not yet read Left To Tell , go back and read it (either reading our Lady of Kibeho first or second) and then finish up with Led by Faith.

This is an excellent book on forgiveness and what that means after a horrible situation like the Rwandan genocide. It was encouraging on the importance of prayer and having faith...and also loving and forgiving people who have done horrific things to people you love.

I started this book right after Left to Tell, but I had to stop. I really got depressed and had to take a break. It starts out so sad and I felt like I have already been through and ordeal with Immaculee in the first book. But I finally picked it back up, and read it. Even this story is amazing. She had struggles as well, but she also had so much love and faith in god. I need more faith and show more love like her. She had amazing miracles that happened to her after the genocide. Faith r...more
Yeah, it was good. I absolutely admire Immaculee; she is an amazing woman. I CANNOT believe the inner strength and resolve that she had. I envy her faith and her ability to pray and forgive. I've never seen or heard of anyone receiving such direct and immediate answers to prayer and faith as she did. I would say that some of her religious sentiments were a little extreme or cliche. And also, I wish that she had gone into greater depth about Bryan, her husband. I know 'John', her ex-boyfriend, be...more
This is the autobiographical story of a survivor of the Rwandan genocide of 1994. Imaculee hid with several other women in the bathroom of a preacher while men were seeking to murder them. In this book, Imaculee talks about the years after the genocide and how her faith led her and held her together through the grief of living through such a tragedy. I admire her relationship with God and complete trust in him. The writing is full of stories, so it's very interesting. I feel like I came to ...more
This is a follow-up to the author's first book detailing her personal account of surviving the Rawandan genocide, Left to Tell. I have really liked both books, but I found the second to be a bit disjointed. Each chapter is more like a "vignette" falling a loose chronology of events. I am still amazed at this woman and her unshakable faith as well as inspired by the miracles she experiences because of her faith in God. If you liked her first book, you would like to read this one as ...more
I almost liked this better than her first book. The first book describes how she survived the ethnic cleansing in Rwanda and how she found God in the middle of that. This book covers the aftermath of the holocaust and the excruciating, seemingly impossible task of healing the hatred between enemies. Ilibagiza's life and orientation towards prayer is so inspiring. I think her written words are channeling the presence of God to her readers.
A riveting memoir by a survivor of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. I didn't know much about that event before reading this, but you can't find a more eyewitness account. This book focuses mostly on the spiritual effects of the genocide in Immaculee's life (she lost almost her entire family), and her journey to forgiveness. Her beautiful spirit is really inspiring to me and spurs me on to a more intimate and constant relationship with God.
When we think life is hard, there is always someone else who is going through or has gone through something harder. This book helped me put my life into perspective and made me grateful for all that I have. It also made me realize that when we go through hard times, we are blessed and have our Heavenly Father's help so that we can endure whatever we have to. last but not least, our faith increases if we let it.
A story of forgiveness. Immaculee teaches us from the depths of the greatest horror and sorrow comes great light when one forgives and receives forgiveness. This book constantly reminds us that God is near, even in great tragedy, all we need do is turn to him. Not everything will go the way we like, but we will always be blessed when we turn to God in prayer and let His love rule our lives.
This is the sequel to Left to Tell. I really liked this book. Immaculee is a devout Catholic who has a personal relationship with God. This book is about that relationship and how He has intervened in her life. She is a perfect example of one who truly has faith. She prays KNOWING that she will get an answer and always does. This book is a fast read and I highly recommend it.
Loved the book. It really made me think about how often I see miracles in my own life, my own faith and how fervently I pray on a daily basis. She gave me a lot to think about and improve in my own life. Not to mention, her story is amazing.
On a very negative note, sometimes I felt like she portrayed herself as being a little self righteous. It seemed a little...fake to me at times. Yikes, I feel bad even typing that, but I'm just trying to be honest. Did anyone else have simil...more

This is the sequel to her compelling memoir Left to Tell. Led by Faith continues as Immaculee begins the healing and forgiveness process after her experiences during the Rwandan genocide. She details the continued growth of her relationship with God and how healing can not take place until forgiveness is offerred and accepted.
I just finished this book today. This is a continuation of her first book Left to Tell. She goes into more detail about her experiences after the holocaust, which continues to show her amazing courage through her faith. This is a truly inspiring story and made me think more about the power of prayer and forgiveness.
This woman is simply amazing. To think of all she went through and to see her turn to God while the rest of the country was telling her there was no God. She has unbelievable Faith. If you haven't read either of her books, I would highly recommend them!! They make you want to be a better person.
A follow up to her astounding "Left to Tell". She offers some more details but mostly focuses on the post genocide. The strength, and power, of her faith and the blessings it brings, is amazing and inspiring. I watched a few of her interviews through YouTube, she's an amazing lady with a powerful message
This book is just as inspiring as Immaculee's 1st book, "Left to Tell." Her ability to forgive and her endless faith continue to amaze me. She is truly an example of how God's love can heal any wound. Other than scripture, this book is one of the most spiritually uplifting books that I have read.
This book has served as a severe wake-up call and a powerful witness to the power of prayer. Immaculee's story and her unceasing prayer is a reminder that through God, all things really are possible. Immaculee's sincerity through it all quickly sucked me in to the story and I had a hard time putting it down.
Remarkable woman. Very faithful and an excellent Christian. This book continues the "Left to Tell" story, to almost present-day. Immaculee gives more insight and details as to HOW she forgave the people responsible for the Rwandan Holocaust and the men who killed most of her family. She shares how she learned what God wanted her to do with her life and how best to serve Him and His children. I would enjoy hearing her speak sometime.
Sequel to LEFT TO TELL and I liked it just as much. This is Ilibagiza's account of adjusting to life after the holocaust without losing the faith and spirituality she had attained during three months in hiding. She tells amazing stories about refusing to succumb to hatred and despair in a country ravaged by slaughter and the ensuing economic and social repercussions. She recounts her ability and willingness to rely wholly on God in making decisions and in moving forward along a path that eventua...more
I don't think I can find words to express how the faith of Immaculee touched me. She found forgiveness for the people who committed unspeakable atrocities and set a shining example of faith, courage and love. She is an amazing woman and this is an AMAZING book!

I learned about the horrors of the Rwandan Genocide and the power and healing of forgiveness possible only by trusting in God. Immaculee endured and witnessed unbelievable atrocities, yet her faith in God resulted in healing, restoration and peace to her life.
I just read this because I wanted the full story and the first book was for book club. Again, very uplifting spiritually. Helpful to understand how much work I have to do when it comes to forgiveness and sharing God's love and mercy, not judgement.
This was an awesome book! Immaculee has held onto her faith in God through such trials and horror. It is amazing to hear from her perspective about her healing, forgiveness and growth she has experienced since the Rwandan holocost of 1994.
While I enjoyed the book, and continued to learn more about her faith journey, it wasn't as compelling as her first. Still, a great book to read, but I would recommend reading "Left To Tell" first, or you won't understand nearly as much of what happens in the aftermath.

Today Immaculée is regarded as one of world's leading speakers on peace, faith, and forgiveness. She has shared her universal message with world dignitaries, school children, multinational corporations, churches, and at many conferences. Immaculée works hard to spread her message and to raise money for her Left to Tell Charitable Fund which directly benefits the children orphaned by the genocide.
