Tucket’s travels
Tucket’s travels is a great five book volume with Mr.Tucket, Call me Francis Tucket, Tucket’s Ride, Tucket’s Gold, and Tucket’s Home by Gary Paulson . Francis Tucket is a resilient 14 year old boy moving west with his family riding a wagon train. On Francis’s birthday his father got him a beautiful new rifle, although it was the beginning of the end for Francis, that day he was captured by Indians. Mr. Grimes is the wise, one armed mountain man that rescues Francis and te More...

After hearing bits and pieces of this story being read to my daughters 4th grade class while volunteering in the classroom my curiosity got the best of me. I had to read the entire 5 books in 1. It was fun, adventurous and easy to read while still showing some harsh realities that one might encounter on their journey west to Oregon. Obviously written for upper gradeschool age.

I loved reading this book and actually read Call Me Francis Tucket first which is the second book in the series. Then I wanted to read the whole series; I was happy to find the whole series in this one book. This is a very realistic depiction of the sometimes horrible challenges of the Oregon Trail.

As a fan of westerns I found this to be a lot of fun since it was involving a lengthy kidnapping as well. These are the adventures of a young man who is taken from his family by indians, and his more than three year journey to find them again. This is one of the most upbeat story stretching over the course of this long of a time. I love this writer, and this is my favorite of his. Yea!

A great read for upper elementary children that gives a good insight into the life of a mountain man and those who crossed the prairies. So many challenges occur that the reader is always looking to see what would come up next. I wish the ending were more developed more though.

Very fun family read. The adventure of a 14 year old boy on the Oregon Trail who gets caught by Indians, a Mountain Man helps free him, finds two orphans, caught again, finds gold, and learns that you have to protect yourself.

YOu and your kids, especially boys, will enjoy this story. My girls like it just as much.

It's 5 short book bound into one.

This is the first book in a long time that Noble has kept coming back to. He had fallen into a "not reading" rut that I had to patiently wait out. He would read if I made him, but if he picked something up on his own he would only read for 20 minutes and be done for several days.

I hear Liam ask as soon as Noble finishes a chapter "what happened next!?" and I enjoy hearing them talking about what they would do if they were kidnapped by indians.

A cowboy story geared for children! Fourteen year old Tucket follows his instincts and remains good and kind as he learns to survive after he is kidnapped on the Oregon Trail by Indians. He has a lot of adventures as he struggles to find his way home, and continues as a positive example of good values. I enjoyed the quiet pace of this interesting book, and the reassuring feeling of a guaranteed happy ending.

A great little adventure about Tucket., a fourteen year old boy surviving living in the wild west. It was a quick and fun read. It was shallow, not a big moral every event wrapped around. It is definitely for kids under the age of 13. Though if you need a quick read this is your book.
