This was definitely a powerful book by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I can understand why some fans will likely hate this book. It is not your cookie-cutter style romance. There is tragedy, multiple love interests, giant age gaps between love interests, and not even the children are safe in this one.

That being said, for me, those elements are exactly why I am consistantly amazed by Phillips' novels. Someone who can make laugh, make me cry, make me hate the hero, make me love the hero, all within the
This is a complex and emotional tale that touches on a few uncomfortable topics. I don't think I made it threw a whole chapter without at least getting misty eyed. I liked all the characters and the relationship between Honey and Dash did not creep me out like it did so many other people.

The last half of the book had me sobbing, and I will be walking around puffy eyed all day as a result. But it's a great story with a ton of happily ever after mixed in with the tears. :)
By Susan Elizabeth Phillips. Grade: A
When I picked up Honey Moon, I hadn’t known that it was one of Ms. Phillips’ earlier works. I expected a light read and was disappointed in that regard. Its not as full of good ol’ boy humor as some of her others but rather is full of deep emotions and characters. The emotional growth of the characters over time is very moving. If you are looking for the simple – guy meets girl, a few problems, jump into bed, live happily ever after with their one true love,

When it comes to women’s fiction by SEP, Glitter Baby will always remain my favourite. But Honey Moon is very close. What prevented it from being Numero Uno was that it was just so sad! Not sad-bad, but just emotionally taxing. I don’t think I’ve ever cried this much while reading a book. But it is an intense, heartbreaking journey of three people in pursuit of happiness.

The main character of this book is Honey Jane Moon, a tough-as-nails endearing teen from South Carolina who wants to provide

This book was VERY different than anything I have ever read. I love SEP so I was very interested to find a book of hers that I hadn't read yet. This book went in a completely different direction than I had pictured even though the ending was as I had predicted. Without spoiling anything, the story is of Honey Moon who is sixteen at the beginning of the book, a sad girl whose job is to take care of her loser family. She goes to Hollywood to get a job for her cousin and instead winds up as a child ...more
This is the only SEP book I tried to read and didn't finish. I have read most of her books and there are certain elements in all of them that are consistent and make them unique and interesting. All of her books have wonderful characters. They all have faces, stories, layers. And they are all unique. There is always a sense of time and place. You literally feel like you are a fly on the wall watching her stories unfold. The characters in HONEY MOON jump off the page which is typically what makes ...more

simplemente espectacular!!!

I'm a big fan of SEP. That said - the first part of this story always leaves (I've read it three times) me feeling a little uncomfortable. It's the relationship between Honey and Dash that I'm not so keen on. The one I wanted to hear more about was the one between Honey and Eric. BUT - the usual lovely lines, the funny ones, the tear jerking ones, the damaged but plucky characters, the great visual detail, the happy ever after - SEP never disappoints. She's one of the few writers I can reread ti ...more

He dicho.
I don't know why this isn't already in my read folder, I read it last year and decided to listen to the audio version yesterday. I couldn't put it down, Honey Moon is one of my absolute favorite SEP books and the audio version is wonderful. I love Susan Elizabeth Phillips books and her audio books narrated by Anna Fields are my favorite. I keep them loaded up on iTunes and listen to them again and again.

SEP write another great book with a wonderful epilogue. Gosh, I don't know how many times I re-read the epilogue. It made me laugh and cry and laugh again. Perfect.

SEP is my all time fave contemporary romance writer. She builds stories that touch my heart and always cause me to fall in love with the characters. Originally written in the early '90's, Honey Moon is one of her older novels. That does NOT take away from the story line at all.
She begins Honey's story at 6 years old and brings us along for a fantastic ride as she weaves this fantastic and sexy, funny and sad, witty and uplifting tale that spans a couple of decades. SEP's writing is seamless. I

Didn't like as much as the previous two I read, it's one of her earlier ones. She definitely has down the "how to make 'em cry" part of her equation, not so much the other "how to make 'em laugh" part. About 2/3rds of the way through, I became really tired of crying and being immersed in the lives of so many damaged people/ characters. Are we all really damaged people masquerading around as normal, and is love such a leap of faith for everyone?

There were: Honey (orphaned at 6, running an amuseme
This book deserves more credit than it's getting.

Not all books are about humor -sometimes you have to open your mind and let a new genre sink in. This book isn't funny at all, it's very serious but that's the good part of this book. It opens your emotions, it gives u a new perspective and outlook on life. nothing in life is easy, and it has tons of struggles but you just have to keep moving frwd. there is so much symbolism in it, and especially when it comes to hope. you have to keep moving in

Wonderful, wonderful story! It's been a long time since a book has truly gripped me from the first page and Susan Elizabeth Philips did just that. In many novels I feel detached from the main characters. Totally emotionless, even. So for this story to bring me to the verge of tears is - to my eyes - an astounding feat. I loved this book, but please note that it may not be for everyone. Some may find it too dark and depressing for their tastes.
But if you are going to try it, my advice is to trust

Really messed up my emotions reading this one... crying one page laughing on the next
one of the few romance novels that I have read that isnt predictable almost down to the letter
in fact, I couldnt predict past like the third chapter

Hmm after reading a lot of SEP's books, you are pretty much able to predict the main plots from start to finish. It's actually the same with romance books in general. But you never mind because you meet awesome characters you fall in love with and see how they handle these obstacles.

The thing here is you never really get to care whether the main characters get together or not as their relationship, clearly predictable from the start is really never explored until the end, and then only as an af
This book was almost awesome. I'm classifying it as romance, but it departs from the traditional formula so dramatically that it feels wrong. I'm just not sure what else to call it -- family drama, perhaps?

The title character, Honey, begins this book as a fierce little 16-year-old with only guts and determination between herself and the world. She's determined to get her beautiful cousin a starring role on a TV show but instead she gets cast herself. What follows is a journey ... one that spans

Öncelikle kitabın adı... Balayı'yla alakasını çözemedim önce, sonra İngilizce adına baktım ve Honey Moon olduğunu gördüm. Bu aslında kitaptaki ana karakterin adı... Adı: Honey Soyadı: Moon

Balayı ismi çok saçmaydı.

Onu geçersem, kitabın arka kapak yazısını okumadım. Susan Elizabeth olduğu için arkasına hiç bakmadan okumaya başladım ve 300'lü sayfalarda bile hala ana erkek karakterin kim olduğunu anlayamadığımı fark ettim :)

Konu bakımından çok güçlü bir romandı. Herkesin yazmaya cesaret edemeyeceği

Not as good as some of her other books I have read but still entertaining. I think I had a hard time connecting with Honey and liking her a lot so parts of the book just didn't mesh with me. But still a fun read and I really liked the character of Eric and how he seemed to grow the most thorughout the book. And how Honey helped his daughter in the end mad me cry. It was a cool insight to the behind the scenes world of a TV series in the 80's too.

She was tough, no one could stop her from doing what she wants. He, on the other hand, cannot keep up with the stubbornness she had and so he punished her. But what if such a punishment could turn into something... something worth while? Old? No one's old enough to be loved and no one's young to stop themselves from loving. They were now going on with their lives. They loved each other. They went through a lot of things together. They went through the public, handing off knives to stab themselve ...more

Bookpage magazine calls her “the crown jewel of romantic comedy writers,” which is definitely a good thing. “The last one's hard. Marriage is always a balancing act, and it's never a good idea for one partner to get too big a head, but I'm afraid that's what's going to happen here. People write a lot of things about Eric Dillon's talent, and most of it's true. But nobody writes about the important things. The fact that he's a wonderful father and the best husband a woman could have. That fact that he cares about other people so much that he sometimes scares me. That doesn't mean he's perfect, of course. It's hard living with a man who's prettier than all of your girlfriends put together. But if it weren't for Eric Dillon, I wouldn't be here tonight. He loved me when I wasn't lovable, and I guess when it comes right down to it, that's pretty much what family is all about. Thank you, sweetheart.” 6 likes
