I typically don't read fantasy/futuristic stuff...it doesn't appeal to me all that much. But I read this one anyway. Actually, when I read the summary on the back at B&N, I missed the little thing at the top calling it futuristic, and though the summary seemed a little odd to me, I thought maybe it was some covert group-contemporary thing. Oops! My bad. I didn't realize it was a futuristic romance until I got home and looked at the reviews here on GR. But I read it anyway. It sounded pret...more
Ten years ago Sera walked away from Ash. Due to his social status he could never get married to her and was forced to marry another women. Ash offered Sera the status of being his mistress which hurt her deeply. Now working as an officer for the federation she is forced to work with Ash and Brandt to expose traitors within the Federation. Sera is furious because she has to pose as Brandt's concubine so they can gather evidence. She is fighting her attraction to Brandt and really hates hersel...more
This one has to much BSDM as in PAIN!!! and M/M in this one for me, I couldn‘t finish it.. Plus the story line is different, but it just to similar to Laid Bare.. I will suggest for those like me who likes D/s with out pain and less M/M please go with Laid Bare..
I also didn’t enjoy the characters or the story line.

DID NOT FINISH.
Too much sex and nothing else despite two gorgeous hunks. It's lost my interest as it reads more like a historical in parts rather than a futuristic and I'm not captivated by the sex in this menage so have been hoping for the action-suspense sequences. It took too long so I ditched this for Cindy Gerard.
I gotta stop buying these erotic romance tradebacks - too costly not to finish! I'll be looking out for someone else's review, though, and even spoilers that migh...more

Futuristic/SFR with a relationship driven plot. I'm not saying there isn't action but much of it is sexual. Since this is a ménage book, a great deal of time is spent on scenes exploring combinations of one, two and three partners. [Despite the heroine assuring them she is okay with 'boy touching' - her words, not mine - the two guys are into her and not each other. They are emotionally intimate, and there is an occasional kiss or caress - but it's on the way to what they really want, her.]...more
This book was different from what I expected when I started it. I loved the space aspect of it.
From the start I wasn't sure how the HEA was going to happen. Sera had some serious and very real issues with Ash. I loved her instant reaction to him, it was a long time coming! As you learned what happened to them in the past you understand her visceral reaction to seeing him and to what he was asking her to do. I have to admit at this point I didn't like Ash either.

My Review:
A wonderful mix of science fiction fantasy and eroticism, this was a fun book to read. Sera, Ash, & Brandt are all soldiers for the Federation, which is at war. Sera has been working her own team, but Ash & Brandt have been working deep undercover and want to add Sera to their team. The issue is that Sera & Ash have a history together that left her broken-hearted 10 years ago and she is not ready to let go of that yet. ...more

Hot and wild erotic scenes, but weak on the story side.

I picked up this book because I liked Laid Bare, and while browsing Amazon saw this book was on sale. Whoo-eee! I didn't realize it was a futuristic story, as I don't usually enjoy that sort of book, but this one was great. Sooo sexy.
Sera Ayers was in love with Ash Walker 10 years ago. He was totally Dominant and she loved submitting to him. He was the love of her life and he ended up having to marry for political reasons. Sera refused to be his sanctioned mistress. She was bitter and ...more

Lauren Dane is one of my favorite authors of erotica and this review is quite biased because of that. I debated whether to give this a 3 or 4 but I just went ahead and given the higher rating.
First up, I'm not exactly a fan of sci-fi and futuristic stories, I don't seek them out but I do appreciate the ones who're written very well. While I'm just an outsider looking in, I found this story just ok, nothing to be ecstatic about. I admit the sex was smoking hot in some parts, there's eve...more

Sera Ayers was left heartbroken 10 years ago by the one man she can never have. Refusing to be his mistress, she leaves him to marry his Ranked bride. Heartbroken, Sera throws herself into a military life and she is good at it.
Ash Walker wanted more than anything to marry Sera 10 years ago, but being a Ranked family made that impossible. Her submission belonged to him and he wanted nothing more than to keep her forever, but all he could offer her was a life as his mistress. Ash’s marri...more

Undercover is my one of my FAVOURITE books by Ms. Dane. This book has it all - angst, kinky sex, two HOT alpha doms, a sexy sub and menage scenes that make me melt into a puddle. I love this new world Ms. Dane created. I love the sci-fi parts of it. I really love Ash, Brandt and Sera. The painful past which becomes a hard future together was pretty impressive. I felt emotionally attached to each of the characters. No one was perfect. Each had flaws which were easily relatable. With how ...more
This was one of those books I literally devoured. Sort of SF/Futuristic Romance, although intended more as erotica than romance. It describes the adventures (in and out of the bedroom) of two dominant men and one strong female character who likes to submit, but only in the bedroom.
Sera, Ash, and Brandt make up a small covert ops military team. Their first assignment as a team has the men posing as rich playboys and Sera as a concubine.

A futuristic novel about an under cover military team sent to a distant locality to spy out those who would seek to overturn the Federation and bring about war and chaos. It involves three people--one a young woman who had an intense love affair with a military officer, but that relationship ended miserably when he was forced by his family to marry and she refused to be his mistress. Now she has been assigned to this undercover team, one of whom is her erstwhile lover. This is a very erotic n...more

Lauren Dane has the ability (not that common among erotic writers) to whip up very interesting stories. Unfortunately they have the downside of falling short of expectation.
The plot is good but weak, drowned by never ending sex scenes, same with character development. The story about the traitor doesn’t move along, as there almost no action to support it. There is a lot of talk and discussion about something bad, but in the end, not much evidence in the story (much is t...more

Lauren Dane writes about passionate adults who are strong, believable characters – characters who come with baggage, and that’s incredibly hard to do well, but it makes for powerful reading when Lauren does it.
This story is set in a future world -- although I have to say it’s very accessible on that front, so definitely give this one a try even if you don’t usually read futuristics. Our heroine is thrown together on an undercover mission with her ex, and his fellow commanding officer...more

I picked up this book because I really adored the Brown Sibling series so far. That series has a similar beginning with a Menage relationship, so I was expecting the Menage, BDSM slant. That being said, this novel doesn't not have the same feel for me as the Brown Sibling book did.

Lauren Dane made a fan out of me with her Brown Siblings series books and although Undercover has a lot of the same flavor with the M/F/M story line that is where the comparison stops. This book is much darker, much harsher and even with the enticement of being a Fantasy Sci-Fi it just did not quite hold my attention the way I was hoping it would. For one thing to be honest the main characters of Sera, Ash and Brandt never really connected with me. I think given reactions from long time fans of ...more
This is how I'm gonna explain the feeling for this book.
First porno I ever saw was some ridiculous 70's thing. You know the kind where the girl has run out of money and can't pay for her rent <cue "Bow chicka wow wa" music> so she's got to work it off...then after 20 minutes of watching I've totally forgotten what the plot was. Facing the fact that we watch porn for the SEX not the plot. You read this book for the SEX not the plot. Which is too bad since it sounded like so...more

Undercover is the first book I have ever read by Lauren Dane, and it defintely won't be my last. This futuristic sci-fi tale is a bit on the kinky side with a great deal of erotic sex. There is no plain vanilla fun in these pages, but a great story filled with S&M and wonderful ménage love between two men and the woman they want to spend the rest of their lives with.

Quickie read.
Futuristic erotica.
Interesting world.
Some emotional angst under all the sex, sex, sex.
Did I mention there was lots of sex?
Good sex scenes, though.
M/F/M sex.
And not just M/F/M sex, but M/F/M true love.
Doesn't seem like the same author who wrote Giving Chase.
Didn't like that one.
Liked this one.
Will read the sequel.

This is really a 4.5 star book. I always enjoy Lauren Dane's work because, while her stories are classed as erotica, she tells a great tale first and formost. The sex is encased with love so anything some class as "kinky" seems very normal. In fact, her characters discuss that very thing: anything between consenting adults in love is OK. That said, the crux of this love story and covert ops sting results in a permanent threesome which may make some readers uncomfortable; however t...more
