I wasn't expecting too much from this book when I received it to review. I had heard of this series before but had never read it. It was great to have one book that had three individual books. I got a three-in-one! As I was reading the first book, "Summer Promise" I found Christy to be extremely relatable. It focused on real life issues teenagers face from day to day. I loved that about this book. I know that many teenagers, including myself can relate to this book.

I LOVED this series! I myself, am an avid reader, so I read the books in the time span of about three months. Before I found this book, I had been in this sort of, "slump" if you will, where I thought that all the books I was reading, all had the same type of plot, the same sort of sappy love story etc. and I was growing especially tired of reading the same thing over and over again. Then one day at the library, I found the first volume of this series, and thought, "Hey why not, the synopsis loo...more
Christy Miller, by Robin Jones Gunn, is an incredible book, and definitly on my favorites list. Christy, the main character, goes through many series of events, just as any other teenage girl does. she has insecurties, secrets, and flaws just like all the other teenage girls out there. To me, she seems like a real person. Christy first starts out by being in California with her aunt and uncle for the summer. Her aunt transforms her into a popular, stylish girl by taking her shopping and giard o...more
What I like about this book: I love this whole series. The setting of this book, the protagonist Christy, the well developed characters, how each book has a specific theme and message, the author's writing style, and how the author can take her readers on a spiritual journey through each page of the series.
What I don't like about this book: I have to admit, these series are sort of preachy at times. Some people may find that annoying, but I love it, because I feel like my time isn't being wasted...more

This book is a three-books-in-one volume, so I’ve given an overview of each story below. I think these books are great. They follow fifteen-year-old Christy Miller as she struggles through her teenage years. They are well-written and fun. Christy is an endearing character who gets into a lot of mischief just trying to live life. I highly recommend this series to teen girls of all ages.

I read both the Christy Miller series and the Sierra Jensen series when I was in junior high and early high school. I read them and re-read them and at 13, Robin Jones Gunn was probably my favorite author. I decided to re-read the first book in each series as an adult and it was such a treat. It was like returning to my adolescence for a moment.

This is an excellent book! In my opinion this series is very relatable to tween and teen girls of any age and background. The characters are all very realistic and likable. I really liked how faith and having a relationship with God were such prominent aspects of these first three books of this series. These books are excellent examples of learning life lessons and finding true forever friends! But best of all teens will learn that their commitment to and love for God ALWAYS comes first! I have to say that this first volume has gotten me hooked. I definitely really like the volume set-up. Each book is a little over 150 pages, and three books go in each volume. I think that it's just really nice to be able to read about people's life and how they are learning and getting better, and it's always great to have that christian element in the midst of that. Usually reading books like that can sort of help you focus what's going on in your own life, especially because as you read about...more
This is the Most Personal book, It's told from the Perceptive of 14-year old Christian, Christy Miller and her Summer with her Aunt, I've Personally read the whole series and I remonded it for 11 and up because it goes all into her Collage Years and through out you meet her best friends her on and off relationships and I love the Add on book " Christy's Diary" and Robin Jones Gunn also added Christy's Best friends own Series. I believe I saw a couple of girls raving about it on an all-girl website. I saw it in the store, and just had to try it out!
I thought it was an amazing volume! All around awesome! Great for girls anywhere from 13 - 16. It's great, easy to relate to, and quite quirky. It's changed so many lives, including mine. It's very funny and touching at times. It's a great inspiration for tweens and teens alike!
I would certainly recommend this for any girl who wants a good book to read - as well as to girls who may think they don't like reading. Even if you think you're not that much of a "bookworm," you will love it! Keep on...more

I started reading these books in high school and I'm really thankful I did. They are a great story for teenage girls and they also taught me a lot about following Christ and just living my life through high school. I've recommended these books so many times and will continue to do so. I won't claim that they are the best literature you'll ever read, but they are entertaining and encouraging. If you have a middle school or high school aged sister/daughter/friend/cousin/acquaintance etc... Have he...more
I finished A Whisper and A Wish-I think this book was a very good book. It is a good book for christens. It life lesson was to believe in your self. Also to remember that a friend might be a good friends but when they ruin your life they are not your friend. In the begging of the book Christy has to move to California. She goes to her best friend house to tell her good-bye till the summer. Her best friend gets a call from a friend she made over the summer and her friend asked if she wanted to go...more
To be up front with you, my lovely readers, this is not my typical book review. I actually first read this series as a thirteen-year-old and completely fell in love with the older-and-cooler-than-me Christy Miller, who was so totally lucky to have rich Aunt Marti spoiling her and the amazing Christian friends Todd and Katie, not to mention the attention of two great guys at once! Then, a few years later, I re-read the series - and discovered that, while I still loved the books and the characters...more
I'll just say this for the whole Christy Miller series. I read every book, minus the college years, about a year or two ago. I don't remember the little details, but I do remember LOVING the books. They were all very fast reads and contained great lessons for my faith. The only thing bad about any of them is they can get a little cheesy at time, but not enough to make me put them at a 4 star rating.

The Christy Miller series is one of my favorite series I've ever read. Robin Jones Gunn is also one of my favorite authors. All of the volumes have 3 books in them. They are also fairly easy reads and the book length is pretty easy to get through without getting bored which is perfect for preteens and teeangers. You will not find any unnecessary language or inappropriatness in the series either. This first volume contains: Summer Promise, A Whisper and a Wish, and Yours Forever. The Christy Mill...more

I would recommend this book to all teenage girls who trust in God to lead their life.
I could never find a book that was perfect for me, or could keep me reading hours upon hours. Now I know what book to pick up.

Great book! Although i am not in my teenage years anymore and have been in the Lord for a few years, this book i believe allows young kids to connnecy and understand how the Lord moves and works. There are real life examples that Christy first handedly experiences herself. The author solves the issue and shows how God always pulls through! A great read! Teens young and old can definitely relate to thos book. Great revelation!
Christy Miller is new to California and has the privilege to live with her Aunt and Uncle at Newport Beach. Her aunt is helping her fit in and gets her some new things for a good start. Christy finds out that she has caught the eye of a young surfer guy named Todd, and finds herself getting to know the God lover and his close friends as well. She becomes very interested in what he believe and really likes him.

This is the best book i have read in a really long time! It really taught me alot about life. It taught me to open your heart up to God and let him in, and no matter the wrong you may do, He will always give you a second chance. In these three books, they taught me alot. Not only being an "awesome" romance book, it gave me a great decsription on what God can do for you, for example, He is always with you wherever you go, and though it may not feel like it, he knows you are talking to him and kno...more
Overall all three of the books in this volume were great, but my favorite was definitely the last one. At certain times I wondered the author was trying to tell us- go with Christianity or go with the world. Is it not wrong to teepee someone's house? Other than those few times I really enjoyed the story because it's easier to relate to then some other Christian books I've read.
This book along with others that i have read on Christy Miller have been so inspirational and have shown me who i want to be. Christy Miller reminds me of myself a couple years ago. So its nice to be able to relate to who she is and how she thinks. Just love love love this book and hope others who are struggling will read, because it is absolutely amazing (:
I loved it. I feel like I know all the characters on a personal level. I would HIGHLY recommend this to all young girls. Christy and her friends will become your friends. The book has a great message so read it and find out what it is. You better have the next book waiting on the table because you will want to find out what happens with Christy next.
Three books in one and easy to read. Great book, for it being a christian based book I thought that it might be all good and positive and neglect real life, but there was drinking unexpected pregnancy and other things that teenagers face in our day and age. I really liked this volume and would recommend it to anyone thinking about reading it.
Reading all of these books even as a 21 year old, I still have that connection with Christy. Could it be that she and I ate a lot alike? Possibly. I started reading Christy at the age of 16 and recommend every teenage girl to read them. It was fun growing up with Christy and the more books that come out the better!
