The main characters in the book were Rubin Carter, Lesra Martin, Mae Carter, Lt. Jimmy Williams, and many others. Rubin was a very highly ranked boxing middleweight whom many fans thought to be the next big thing. Then suddenly his life took a change for the worst. He was wrongfully sentenced to a triple life sentence of a murder of three whites. Three white victims a clubs bartender, a male, and female customer were shot to death in New Jersey.
