overall it is a good book for basic information on food and their nutrients. i found that most of the information did not go deep into explaining the physiological path that the nutrients take to affect the body. I also felt that it is hard to come up with that many food combinations because each food combination has a purpose and i think everyone wants to be healthy so if each person combine food for several purposes he or she going to end up eating a lot. I mean if you want to prevent yourself ...more

Many believe and some scientific evidence that the nutrients of certain foods can reduce or preventer medical ailments such as cancers, high blood pressure, and diabetes. Food Synergy discusses these beliefs and names some foods that can help providing the justifications. There is a large selection of recipes that are used in sample diets along the the nutritional breakdown for each one.

This is an easy to read, easy to follow book on nutrition and food powerhouses. It was written a few years ago, so I felt like some of the research was a little dated, and I don't agree with some of it (such as advocating dairy), but if you're new to healthy eating, it's a great place to start. There are quite a few good recipes to get you going in the kitchen, as well as an eating plan.

Pretty interesting read. Found it difficult to come up with a way to incorporate all or most of the food synergy ideas into my diet. You almost have to pick and choose what you would hope to avoid or improve (heart disease, cancer, PMS, etc) in order to take advantage of the diet plans.
