I bought this book since short story collections with stories that are actually short are good for traveling. This short story collection turned out to be perfect for traveling. Each piece has a well-defined character, a plot twist, and an exploration of a societal question.

Several stories involved themes that related to civil rights--slaves, alien races, how outsides relate to insides--which is no surprise, considering these stories were all written in the 50s and 60s. Even though he belonged t

This was an interesting collection of Del Rey's short stories. Some are, of course, a bit dated after 40 or 50 years, but still good reads!

Lester del Rey (June 2, 1915 – May 10, 1993) was an American science fiction author and editor. Del Rey is especially famous for his juvenile novels such as those which are part of the Winston Science Fiction series, and for Del Rey Books, the fantasy and science fiction branch of Ballantine Books edited by Lester del Rey and his fourth wife Judy-Lynn del Rey.
