This was the book i took on vacation, it looked nice and light and chick lit for a warm trip. i knew it was technically christian chick lit but didn't think that would matter. it did. this woman was at church every single day, and only would hang out with her sad seeming singles church group and talked about god every two seconds. i've nothing against all of that but not to the degree that it happened. ive never seen christians be THAT christiany. it seemed unrealistic. still, i could have liked

I may not look like the girl on the cover... but I feel like her at least. And even more so, as the complexity of the character is revealed (and slightly unraveled) in the pages. It's been a long time since I've read a book that struck so directly with a myriad of my thoughts, hopes, dreams, fears, beliefs... and still had the enticement of the story, the humor, fast wit, and sarcasm!
For my first jaunt into Christian fiction... let alone Christian Chick-Lit, this certainly was worth the gam More...

This is not a book I would have ever picked up to read if not for bookclub. And I must say that this turned into a guilty pleasure. I usually don't like chick lit because the heroines always seem to do the stupidest things for no real reason. Well our heroine, Ashley Stockingdale, is not stupid, but she's not perfect either. I've never read Christian chick lit before, and perhaps I will try more because Billerbeck's characters were believable and did not irritate me with their irresponsibili

July Book #11: Are you still with me? We're a third of the way through my July reads. I admit, none of it has been particularly wonderful this far and this book falls into that same category. But do not despair. There are a few great ones coming up. Ashley despairs of ever finding a man. She's got a few crushes, most notably one on a man in her church singles group. Suddenly, she finds several men after her at once. This was just not that great. I almost didn't even finish it because I

I read this book b/c the character sounded like me, 31 year old single attorney wondering why she is single. Only after I bought it did I realize it was Christian Chick Lit. I never even knew there was such. I totally related to this character and therefore routed for her. I could not put this book down.

This first book in the Ashley Stockingdale series is a book that will resonate with many single Christian women who are trying to have a career, keep their faith, and have a relationship. This book certainly falls into the chick-lit genre and therefore should not be taken too seriously, but the characters do develop over time and display flaws of character that make them relatable. Ashley is a patent attorney who is looking for love, but can never seem to get it with the right guy at the right

I found this book by accident and ended up loving it- although I would definitely categorize it as ChickLit (with a Christian theme). The characters in all three of this series are great and I think they are wonderful beach/bathtub reads.

I absolutely loved this book! This is written by a Christian author who did a wonderful job of telling what most single girls want and how they feel! It was funny and inspirational at the same time.

What a fun book! The main character is very funny and likeable. Although there is alot of christian references and that could make it really sappy, it really isn't. Perfect beach/summer light reading.

I hope that no one reads this book and thinks that this is what romance is or should be, or what Christianity is or should be.
Ashley Stockingdale has the emotional maturity of a twelve year old, as do all of the characters in this book. Her point of view on men, her reactions to the guys around her, to her friends, to her family, the way she handled conflict and difficulty all reflected the point of view of a very young, very inexperienced girl, however much she lamented being 32.

I give it points for being a chick-lit romance that doesn't end up with The Guy. But the reason I picked it up -- the self-proclaimed Christian Romance aspect -- is also one of the reasons I wouldn't pick it up again. The Christian aspects of it were two-dimensional. There was some lip-service to gospel principles and there was definitely none of the over-sexed garbage usually to be found in Romance books but over all, it felt like something the author just slipped in to catch a certain audie

This is one I picked up for less than $5 at a Mardel sale. I have to say, I didn't have high hopes--hardly a hope at all--for this book, but Billerbeck gave me a mild surprize. While the book is a bit preachy and the Christianity is fairly forced, the writing was decent, the story honest if a bit "chiky", and Billerbeck has a sense of humor that only another 30-something single woman can have.
This was a very quick read. It was fun and disctracting--not something to read if More...

I love the character Ashley. She is so different then me, but has so many problems in the love department. I felt alot like her when I was single and am glad that is over. She meets two men and you would think she would go for the doctor, but he is not a Christian. His parents are awful people as well. She likes engineers. Her brother gets married and her best friend decides to adopt. I read the book after this already, but it was a nice light roadtrip book that didnt take my full attention.

The only reason I made it through this poor excuse of a book was because I cannot stand to leave books I have started unfinished. The main character was annoying and the other characters, especially the guys, were extremely unappealing or unbelievable. The pop-culture references became quite annoying and there were many sub plot lines left open, which drives me crazy. I can't believe I wasted the hours (although it is quite easy to race through the simple writing) reading this book. Stay away

This is the first of a series about single Christian girl Ashley Stockingdale, a patent attorney living in Silicon Valley. She's in a rut with no romantic prospects, and typical Bridget Jones-esque calamities ensue.
Much of time Ashley is pining over a man that she's evidently had ample opportunity to date but just now decided that she wants, after he's apparently gotten over her. There's a lot of soul-searching here, but I couldn't really relate to her thoughts and decisions. Not More...

this is TOTAL chick-lit which i don't normally read, but it was a birthday gift from a friend that was working at a bookstore and i actually liked it! it was hilarious... especially from a devout Single Christian Woman point of view... LOL definitely recommend it for a "flip your brain off and enjoy" type of reading mood... will definitely be reading more books by this author...

I've enjoyed reading Ms. Billerbeck's books but when I read the back cover of this book I really didn't care to read it. However, due to a book challenge I decided to pick this book and read it. I'm really glad I gave it a chance because it was a good story and now I can't wait to read the other two books in the series. The moral of this review is don't judge a book without giving it a chance.

If I could I would have given this book a 3.5. It was an easy read that mixed comedy in with the struggles of a single 30 something professional trying to find a man worthy of husband material. I believe that this is the first book in a series and I look forward to checking in with Ashley Stockingdale (the main character) to see what becomes of her!

Given to me by a chick lit loving friend. Yuck. yuck, yuck. I obviously no longer qualify as a girl, because what these girls want, for the most part, seem totally foreign to me. The only reason I gave it a rating as high as I did was that the main character, Hayley, actually grows up a tiny bit.

This was one of the first books of this author that I read, and while it was entertaining and funny, I felt like I had read this book before. I understand that there is nothing new under the sun, and there are numerous books with the same basic plotline, but I just felt like I was rereading a book.

I loved these books(the Ashley Stockingdale Series)!!! They were a really fun light read! I hadn't ever read anything from this author before. She is a christian author. It was so nice to be able to read these books and have them be clean! Thank you Kristin Billerbeck for that!

I liked this book for the most part - enough to try #2 in the Ashley Stockingdale series. Some events just didn't quite add up though and the character of Ashley is constantly being accused of being selfish - when I didn't find her at times to necessary be selfish.

I thought that at many times, the whole Christian thing was really heavy-handed and preachy. Like being preachy towards the reader, not just to other characters in the book. Especially nearing the end. I almost didn't finish the book because of it.

One of my favorite chick lit books. Pure entertainment. I love the Ashley. She makes me laugh. I can relate to some of her random antics. Her description of single life, particularly in the church is dead on. Way to be yourself Ashley!

This was a fun, light hearted Christian romance that actually had a few thought provoking moments. We all yearn for relationship with one another yet this book was a reminder that our most important relationship is that with God.

It's refreshing to read a Christian based romanic comedy. Although this author is not LDS I was often reminded of the days of being in a singals ward. It's a fun silly read which is great when your not in a mood for anything deeper.

Laugh out loud FUNNY! First real Christian "chick lit" book I read, and it hooked me! One of those books where you know exactly what the author is talking about and feel like she has a window into YOUR world.

Anyone can see from my books that I actually like to read Christian fiction as well as secular chick lit.So this one could be right up my alley? But, eh, no. I just couldn't relate to it at all. I think a big part of that would be that I kind of did skip that prolonged single state since I got married as young as I did. And the church set up was pretty foreign to me, too, what with all the different groups. And I'm not a career woman. And I'm not into shopping. And...the list goes on. Just not a
