I love Lori Wick's books because Christian historical romantic fiction is pretty hard to find and she does it amazingly well. This story had a really exciting premise and beginning but didn't feel like it was there just to pull readers in and then let them down. The excitement and emotion of the story were palpable and I almost cried several times, which is rare. Wick expertly weaves in two tales of romance yet the values and characters of her main characters shine through as well. It's a fine l...more

1945 Rigg thought about his ideals as he'd entered the war. I was up for anything, but hadn't banked of finding a lone survivor of a plane crash on a deserted island, half starved to death.
This book was clean, and wholesome. Christian author. However, I thought it was long-winded. It drug on in several areas. It could have been cut much shorter and been just fine.
Several times is found myself confused about sentence structure...but over all a great book, and fantastic story line. I think the st...more

Well, it is not the best book in the world. But it is a pretty good romance book. I do have one slight beef with it besides the improbability of the entire thing, and that is that a whole lot of people died. But none of the military guys died, only civilians. The main character, Lorraine's dad is dead, as are both her grandmothers. Her (eventual) mother-in-law tells of her parents dying within 48 hours of each other. A family friends daughter has a miscarriage. But somehow, no men were actually...more

One of the stories that I have really enjoyed reading, even took a really short time to read because it was so good I couldn't put in down. It was Like reading two love stories in one novel. This book is really based on the lost but I didnt like it starting with war, something that makes me think back on the stories my grandpa has to me from his time at the war. He was a christian and because of our belief we are not aloud to take a wepon and kill someone, its a sin. So know how much this even s...more

Set in 1945 amid WWII, a young American woman and her sister take positions as Governesses for a wealthy rancher in Australia. On a flight to join the family for a vacation, the small plane crashes onto a deserted island in the Pacific killing the pilot and the sister. Six weeks later, the main character (and only survivor of the accident) is found in shock and nearly starved to death. Rescued by an American Naval vessel, the young lady is still dealing...more

I liked this book a lot, and the large print edition I read made it even better! It was interesting to read about a family starting in 1945 and how they started to recover after the warm. It makes me want to read a book that was actually written about that time rather then set in the time period to see what people were writing about then.

Also, reading about the grandpa who burried his wife, son and granddaughter made me realize that my sister and I need to not do reckless things, because we can'...more

Every Storm is my first Christian romance novel. Set during and after WWII, it was interesting in terms of rationing, only having a radio to find out what's going on, letters instead of e-mail, and romance in slow motion. Modesty was in style then, maybe something we should consider bringing back.
Not exactly rocket science in style or substance, reading it was a pleasant way to spend the winter day.

I would probably give this more like 2.75 starts if I could, I was pretty disappointed. While there were some pretty good spots there were many trite moments that didn't flow well. The story seemed like it struggled. I was really excited because the last 3 of her books have made me laugh and feel uplifted the whole way thru...this did a couple times, but I wasn't thrilled.

A great Christian book. The story is very touching. I really enjoyed it. The only thing i had against it was its view on war. Two of the main characters in the story are soldiers who dont view fighting as sin. The Bible explicitly says that those who live by the sword will die by the sword. Killing is sin.

This was a pretty good book set in 1945 during the war. A naval man finds a lone survivor of a plane crash on an island in the South Pacfic. She was nearly starved to death and in shock. It was a story of survival & trust. Love at the end of course.

This is the second (or fourth, the other books were a trilogy) book I've read that takes place in the "old times". But Lori Wick is an AMAZING writer.

A bit better than some of her others. Read it two or three times because it has three sisters, like my family, and I cry every time. : )
Ms.
Wick can be a painfully predictable, almost simple writer, but this is among my favorites and it hits a deep meaningful chord.

Beautiful love story...sorrowful in the beginning, a story of survival and honestly believing and trusting in love.

Lori Wick’s novel Every Storm is one of the best stories I’ve ever had the privilege to read! Mrs. Wick weaves a tale of romance and intrigue, all with God-centered principles and plans due to unfold. I truly loved this book!

A Christian romance set at the end of WWII. I found it rather predictable and actually a bit boring. I gave it 3 stars.

This book by Lori Wick was a wonderful read. The story is about a young woman who survives a plane crash and is rescued at sea by a PT boat. It is near the end of WWII and the soldiers aboard must get her to safety. The war comes to an end and Lorrie must learn how to move forward in the face of great pain. You will also meet her family as they struggle with her. It is a story of family and faith. I advise having a box of tissue nearby as there are many scenes that bring tears to the eye. I high...more

At last, at last, Lori Wick has written a novel set in the Homefront Era! Love this time period and love the story set up. Lorri is an attractive heroine in that she tries to be strong -- and succeeds -- but often feels she fails. While Donovan Riggs is the standard strong but sensitive Wick hero, it works well with the counterbalance of the John and Max (yes, Max is a girl) love story. The only thing missing was how Donovan was connected to Kate and Rigg (The Californians - there HAD to be a co...more
