Lori Wick

4 stars! For me, this one SORTA had what the previous one lacked: a major issue that the hero and heroine had to overcome. Although I gotta say, I wasn't sure the hero was gonna figure things out... but once he put his mind to it (quite late in the game), it was like badda-bing badda-boom... game over.
But when I say it SORTA had it, when I say "a major issue the hero and heroine have to overcome," I usually mean something that is keeping them from being together, you know? Issues with their past...more

The second in the Yellow Rose trilogy by author Lori Wick finds Texas Ranger Dakota Rawlings taking on an unusual assignment: escorting childhood pal Darvi Wingate to Stillwater. However, trouble seems to follow her around and they face obstacles that test their newfound faith.
The book does drag in the middle due to a bizarre subplot where Darvi is mistaken for a local investigative reporter (her link to Darvi is a nice twist, though) and is held captive by a man named Seth, who is delusional en...more

Lori Wick is one of my fovorite Christian novelists. The seamless way she crafts her stories amaze me. A Texas Sky is no exception.
The story is set in Texas during the late 1800s and tells the way a kidnapping ends in romance. The descriptions are rich in detail and the plot kept me turning the pages. When you read this book, look for the way Lori Wick portrays the villians as deluding themselves.

This was one of the amazing book to go on with the story, i think that Dak's relationship was importend in the first book and how much he was trying to ignore it, but what happeneds to him in the story really does bring him to God and it was God's way of bring him on to the right path. Like its says that God is never to late, he might linger for a while but he will be there on time. It was also an amazing adventure of watching now the story unfolded with Darvi in the picture and how many times...more

I enjoyed this one more than the first book since more "exciting" stuff happened, what with the abduction and all. I found it interesting because the storyline could have played out so differently. I swear I've read something similar where the girl did fall in love with the man who kidnapped her, but I guess this one is more true to life...or if you're all religious and stuff it is. ;)

Set in the 1880's in Texas, it is not my favorite time period but it is a sweet love story of a Texas Ranger and a girl who could get into all kinds of trouble by herself.
Injured Texas Ranger Dakota Rawlings returns to work early, but his boss objects and asks him to escort his niece to another town. Darvi and Dakota are attracted to each other—especially when they realize they’re both believers.
Mistaken for another, Darvi is kidnapped. When an abductor takes a shine to her, he refuses to release her. Unable to imagine how God could rescue her, she is amazed when Dakota appears!

Dakota Rawlings is my favorite type of romantic hero; as a 19th century Texas Ranger, he's skillful, quirky, tender, and protective. Darvi's his perfect fit, and she's put in a situation so incredible it just might be true. But Dakota's right - trouble does seem to follow her around. (Second book in Yellow Rose trilogy)

It was so great to read this book a second time. I found I really didn't remember a lot of it, so it was almost like reading a new book. And I really enjoyed the characters and the storyline.

I enjoyed this Lori Wick book as I have several others. The characters are real and the story is light and enjoyable.
