I can draw and sew, but this book reaffirms for me that I have a lot to learn about fashion design, garment-making and tailoring. Project Runway runner-up Daniel Vosovic gives fascinating, fully-illustrated explanations of processes you only get a glimpse of on the show: sketching stylized fashion croquis (figures), "rubbing off" existing garments to create new patterns, and draping fabric on dress forms. I am eager to give the tutorials and tips a go.

The book's production More...

I didn't expect much from this book, (I've read other Project Runway Designer books that were not so great) but this one is actually really good! Out of at least 100 books I've read on fashion, this is one of the tops on my list even! It covers many areas in fashion, not just the design aspect...from styling, selling to finding inspiration! I totally recommend this book for any budding designer, stylist or lover of fashion!

Exceptionally written, with simple, yet intense insight into the backbone of fashion. Daniel interviews several participants in the fashion world, like Dian VonFurstenberg, with endearing questions, meant for us, More...

I don't know who Daniel V is, but I don't watch tv. I like the book though, full of tips about quality clothes-making and interviews with industry insiders, not just glamorous retards.

I came back to this book after reading it halfway through and I thought Vosovic did a nice job of writing about a range of the fashion industry that makes it more accessible for the uninitiated or even put off. There were some fun interviews in there and I really enjoyed Nina Garcia's interview. Nice book, interesting, could have used more fashion pictures but then Vosovic was trying to delve into the mental world of fashion.

5 stars because it is not so much about style as it is about the industry and the design process. Lots of great interviews and little tips, like how to use pins properly.
