This book managed to get me to dnf on the second page.

Gooch introduces us to Martyn, a philosophic young man who enjoys nature and thinks he might have experienced paranormal phenomena. Gooch assures us we can take him seriously, because although he likes to "wander in the woods and talk to the trees," he:

"was no effete misfit. He was, for instance, already playing in his school's first rugby XV by the age of fourteen."

Well, thank fuck he's not one of them nancy gayboys.

It had good arguments for the author's beliefs, but felt it too dismissive of other's. I did appreciate the many cases brought into play, his well-researched references and personal additions. It was beneficial in that aspect, but still feel it was narrow-minded and too "my way or no way" about paranormal aspects. Still, it's good for anyone seeking more information on the subject. He also gave a lot of books I will be adding to my library on the subject.

Good arguments on how to apply probable scientific explanations to all the "paranormal phenomena" but what was very confusing to me is how in spite all these explanations the author claims to be experiencing a presence of a succubi as a real entity? I might have read it to fast or just got confused and stopped paying attention, but I was a little dissapointed, if somebody got it please explain...
