I vaguely remember reading some where that this Beneath Strange Skies series is actually YA, and I have to say that it certainly feels that way while reading it. I was a bit bored at first, but the story does seem to be taking off now. All the same, it doesnt have the same kind of 'punch' that the Liaden books do.

I found the second half a much quicker read. I think part of the problem was that I had expected something with the detail and complexity of the Liaden books - and this isn't like that...more

book published in 2005, first in a series, ended on a cliff-hanger, but no sequel in sight. Fairly unsatisfying, seemed like a pale imitation of their novel Flegdling. I've read everything Steve and Sharon have written (including the original, signed chapbooks) I actually can't believe they wrote this. I adore their stuff.

If you are looking for a book of theirs to start with - put this to the end of the list and go and read the Agent of Change series - it begins with the book of the same name.

If this is the only one of theirs that you haven't read, like me - you're probably not going to believe the reviews. But truly and very sadly - it's terrible.

Liked the premise but didn't like the main character(s).

This is the first book of a never-to-be-completed trilogy. I decided to read it because I've loved everything I've read by Lee & Miller. This isn't one of their stronger works. I'd only bother if you are a die-hard completest.

Sharon Lee has been married to her first husband for more than half her lifetime; she is a friend to cats, a member of the National Carousel Association, and oversees the dubious investment schemes of an improbable number of stuffed animals.

Despite having been born in a year of the dragon, Sharon is an introvert. She lives in Maine because she likes it there. In fact, she likes it so much that she...more
