A great teen gothic that includes feminist ideals , a gloomy mansion whose grounds include patches of quicksand , a crotchety old lady that seemingly everyone is trying to bump off ( via poison or a fear induced heart attack. ) And even a couple of moody hunks for our heroine to puzzle over. I first read this after finding a copy in my Mum's room. It was near the bottom of a pile and the title immediately caught my eye... I was 12 years old at the time.

I loved reading and a good thriller/mystery always intrigued me, so I sat down and found, I couldn't put the book down until I finished.

I LOVE this book! I'm not really sure why, it's a great book, don't get me wrong, but I'm not really sure what sets it apart for me...I found an old paperback copy of it years ago, and the last page or two have since fallen off and been lost, but I still love to read it! In fact... I think I might do that tomorrow :) Anyway, it's great, a good clean "cozy" type mystery, Its got a young girl trying to 'find herself' some romance, sweet old ladies, and a crazed killer... if I could just find anoth ...more
