Saya seems, from all appearances, to be an ordinary teenage girl suffering from amnesia. Living with a foster family just outside an American military base in Okinawa, Japan, she soon discovers that she is anything but normal. She learns she is an apparently immortal warrior, who has ties dating to ancient Egyptian times if not earlier. For centuries she has been locked in ...more

Blood+ is set after the movie where Saya our Chiropterans slayer from the film has amnesia and doesn’t recall what happened. She’s been living with a human family that she accepts as her own, but things aren’t always easy when you aren’t just a normal girl. When Chiropterans start to show up Saya will have to face the reality of who she really is and what her destiny is but at least she doesn’t have to face it alone. With the support of the Red Shield Saya will set off on an action-packed ...more

Blood+, Volume 2 begins with one of the funniest lines:
"Still trailing after Saya like poop on a goldfish, eh, Hagi?"
This gives me a visual that just cracks me up.

Volume 2 picks up right where Blood+ 1 left off, and it immediately sucks you in. We learn the mystery behind Charles and why he has such deep hatred for Saya. In the scenes with the kidnapped Riku, we get a glimpse of Charles' vulnerability and he's almost likable. In fact, you even begin to pity him.

All sorts of intriguing things

More of Saya's story unfolds as her memory returns from her past. The stakes are higher now as her foster brother, Riku, has been kidnapped and she's determined to find him and get him back to safety. Saya ends up working along with the Red Shield, an organization whose been trying to stop the Chiropterans as well.

This manga has Saya traveling to Vietnam, which is good because the change in scenery drives home how this epidemic is expanding. Saya has a lot more on her plate then you're led to b

The story deepens as Saya learns more about her past. Charles is testing Saya by trying to recreate a massacre from the Vietnam War Saya took part in, only with vampires. It seems however that Chales is merely a pawn in a far larger game. We also have a bit of a love triange emerging between Saya, her loyal follower Hagi and her foster brother Kai. Some really nice artwork, the blacked out monster faces reminiscent of Hellsing. Charles is brilliant in this one and we start to see his softer side ...more

The first volume had more of Saya and her amnesia. This volume had more action and fighting. Charles kidnaps Riku, Saya's younger brother, and uses him to lure Saya into his trap. I was very surprised that we were shown a softer side to Charles and let us see a kind side to him that longs for someone to love him without fear. Charles has quickly become one of my favorites. Kai wasn't in this volume much, but he did do his headbutting-thing again- but this time with a table. He sure likes to ...more

The fight scenes don't seem to translate well. And the story feels condensed and rushed. Since it's only 5 volumes long I'll continue, but I'm not really setting high hopes. What I am interested in, is the differences between the Manga and the Anime. Like Charles/Karl, they're basically two different characters between the two. And I must admit I'm liking him better in the manga.

Its been a while since I saw this anime but I recall liking it. I feel like this is a condensed version, but that may be my imagination, I don't recall how many eps the show had it or even if I saw them all.

The art work is generally nice to look at but at times a bit bloody. A nice read but not particularly stunning even though I like most of the characters.

As memories keep surfacing, the Chiropterans keep pulling closer and closer to her life. Disrupting what could have been the regular life of a regular girl. Problem is, Saya is no regular girl. After her brother Riku is kidnapped, the search begins to find him, and it only leads them closer to Saya's unfortunate past.

This volume in particular captures perfectly what I want in a vampire manga.
It can be dark and bloody, but at the same time it isn't grimdark and depressing.
The story line is amazing!
I recommend this to any fan of vampires who like their vampires powerful and dark.

Saya part à la recherche d'un de ses frères enlevé par Charles. Direction : le Vietman, où le passé de Saya refait surface...
Dommage que les lettres accentuées de la police d'écriture pour les vampires ne passent pas...

I thought this was a very good manga series. I was captivated by all of the characters and I liked the danger and slight romance. The drawings were stunningly beautiful. This is a great read, especially for lovers of vampires!

Still a good story, but I feel like it's dragging a little. Rehashing things I already know, and not telling me the things I want to know about these characters. Suspense is one thing, over-dramatizing is another. This title is walking the fine line between.

I started reading this series because it got good reviews, but it is nowhere near as good as Oishinbo. So I'm not getting any more volumes of this one from the library. Done!

These comics are worth reading just for the comedy, not to mention my list of loves in my review of volume 1.
