Okay, I should probably just go ahead and fess up. I’m a sucker for the whole ‘trilogy’ thing. Even though I know some of the story going in…there’s gonna be one smart one, one shy one, and one really gorgeous one. There will be some thread that binds them together whether it’s school, home life situation, work together…whatever. I still love ‘em, can’t get enough of ‘em. I read the first one, and assuming it’s any good, ...more

I really liked this one! Again... straying from my Regencies... but I think this one would translate to a historical if need be. But quick witty dialogues. Totally HOT attraction and sparing between the h/h. I will be interested in seeing how the next of this trilogy happens.

This the first book in the Sisterhood Diaries series by Susan Andersen and she didn't disappoint. I loved Devlin Kavanaugh from the first moment that Jane laid eyes on him, and no not just because he had red hair (I am a sucker for red hair), but because he came from a large family. I could connect with him and truly understand his need to be away. He was exactly who and what Jane needed. They were so very hot together. ***Get your coat*** S'all I'm Say'n. Jane was along with all of the girls w...more
I gave up EARLY on... Never even made it to chapter 2...
Here is the begginging of the conversation (which did'nt improve later on), that made me realise that Jane REALLY likes to make a big deal out of small things (a drunk guy in a bar? Really?? And he LOOKED at you?) later on she also demonstrates how to be rude!
“Well, shit.” Her disappointment was fierce, which was pretty dumb
considering she’d never even talked to the guy.

Really enjoyed this book and was disappointed that this was the first in a newly released series. Didn't realize that when I downloaded the book but enjoyed it anyway. Poppy, Jane and Ava are three friends who go to a posh boarding school, though only Ava's family is actually wealthy. They catch the attention of Agnes Bell Wolcott, a wealthy eccentric, and become fast friends with her as well. When Agnes dies, she leaves the girls her mansion and most of the contents. Her vast collections were l...more

Cutting Loose, Book 1 in Andersen's Sisterhood Diaries Trilogy, is my first by this author and was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. I wasn't holding out much hope since it's technically my second: I checked out Bending the Rules from the library (Book 2 in the trilogy), which I started reading but - unbelievably - returned unread. It barely clicked with me from the start so I didn't get that far into it, which allowed me to return it to the library before finishing it - I am literally physically unable to ...more
After my fourth in a row trashy romance novel I have decided that this book could really use some constructive criticism. I am going to point out the problems with it and give my reccommendations of how to make it better.
Problem- Lame premise. Three really annoying girls are taken under the wing of a crotchety old millionaire socialite woman with a mansion who inevitably takes a shine to said annoying girls, gives them diaries to write in, and several years later dies and leave th...more

The first of a series about three friends, Jane, Ava and Poppy. They inherited a mansion from an old lady who encouraged their friendship and education since they were teenagers. This is Jane's story. Jane out of the three is controlled, not passionate (so she thinks) and an art museum curator. Growing up as an only child to actors for parents Jane has worked hard to make a drama free life for herself. It was working till gorgeous Devlin comes back to town to help his brothers contractors ...more

I liked the verbal sparring in this book and how disagreements between the couple weren't drawn out forever, they were resolved quickly. The villain in the book wasn't that scary, more of an annoyance. It was a quick and pleasant read and I hope we see the hero's brother, Finn, in a future book. The little glimpses we see of him were yummy.
If Cutting Loose is any indication of the quality of the Sisterhood Diaries series, I MUST read all the books!
Jane is a museum curator who never loses her cool. Atleast she never lost her cool until she met Devlin Kavanagh. Dev and his brothers have been hired to restore the mansion Jane and her two best friends, Poppy and Ava inherited from dear Miss Agnes Wolcott, their long time friend and mentor.

Another random purchase that I enjoyed thoroughly. Sweet romantic story with some intrigue to boot. I liked the characters too... always a plus. Will look for more books by her, I was excited to find out this is a book in a series.
Three young ladies of different circumstances become friends in grade school and are lucky to find a benefactress whom becomes active in their lives. Eighteen years later, the girls are now Ladies and have lost their dear friend. She, has left them, her home and 'starts' to their chosen careers.
The mini-series starts with focusing on Jane who you quickly discover is the shy one with hidden depths.

If only I had a nickel for every time I hired a contractor to renovate my house just to find he’s a smoking hot Irishman who can’t keep his hands off me... well, I’d have to bum change to make a call from a payphone. Andersen moves directly from unbelievable premise to ridiculously manufactured relationship obstacles to hysterically over-the-top obvious bad guy without breaking a sweat, crafting an entirely effortless read guaranteed to be forgotten before you even close the back cover. As someone who is not a fan of cheesy romance novels I was afraid to dive into this book, the first in "The Sisterhood Diaries" knowing it would be typical boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl back in the end story. I was pleasantly surprised by the end though. Yes, the typical scenario plays out and they do end up together in the end but its a fun, quick, cute read for a lazy afternoon. I found myself turning pages faster than I could read them. The main Characters Jane and D...more
This book might have started as a little slower than my taste, but as soon as the characters were developed and the plot started to progress, i was hooked. The characters were amazing and they clicked so much that I had to remain in my bed with this book attached to me and only getting up to eat or use the restroom. This book was amazing. I would recommend this book to any hopeless romantic who loves to see the two main characters getting together in the most unusual ways and it takes a while to...more

Starting with the first book in a romance series is unusual for me. Usually, I browse the library shelves looking for either a historical or contemporary romance and take the first one that strikes my fancy, even if it is out of sequence.
In this case, dumb luck helped me find the first in the Sisterhood Diaries. It was fun read and contained all of my requirements from romance. Interesting characters and setting, some humor and a little sex and of course the fairy tale ending.

So. Yeah. What a disappointment.
I read the second book of this series, Bending the Rules, before I knew that it was part of a series. I loved Poppy and Jason, and I really liked Dev and Jane in that book. So, I was anticipating reading Cutting Loose and totally falling for them. Well, as I'm sure you can tell from my rating, this was not the case.

After reading a lot of negative reviews on here about this one, I feel I have to write a review...
For starters this author writes romantic fiction....what were some people thinking? its not a literary masterpiece, so if thats what you are after. Do not pick up this book.
Now if you like nice, lighthearted, feel good romantic reads and you like authors like Rachel Gibson, Susan Donovan or even Susan Elizabeth Phillips (to name a couple) then this will be right up your street.

Susan Andersen's been an auto-buy for me for a long, long time, mostly because of her man-dialogue. Or at least partly. This is a new series which she starts off very well with a "little girl" prologue. Three little girls, unlikely friends from a private school, meet an eccentric old maid (or maybe widow) and find a refuge from their "real" lives. Then we jump ahead to the start of the story when the three young women have inherited the house. The heroine of this book is an i...more
I really enjoyed this fun romance with a hint of mystery. The H and h were well developed characters and I learned to love both of them as the story unfolded. I am patiently waiting to read book #2 and book #3 in the "Sisterhood" so that I can learn more about Poppy and Ava. Susan was able to give the reader a glimpse into these two supporting characters lives and how all of them grew up together to become friends/sisters.
I have a soft corner for sisterhood bonds and well what can I say, the author had me at trilogy. I have an unhealthy obsession for trios especially families or childhood bonds. So I did pick it up expecting a lot of promise and the bond between the friends was.... Strong that it. But the story didn't pack enough punch and was definitely not sassy enough for me. I've been spoilt :(.
A light romp as a group of girlfriends inherit a fortune, find a hunk and solve a mystery. It was definitely enjoyable.
I can't believe that I am actually writing this, but the explicit sex scenes kind of took away from the Tracy-Hepburn tone of the story. Although it fit for the characters, it didn't fit for the story. Probably would have gotten 4 stars without the sex.

Narrated by Carol Monda
The narration is good, the book itself was too slow getting off the ground. For me it didn't really start until well into chapter 9.
I really didn't like the plot move of Jane automatically assuming that Dev had a drinking problem from such a brief observance and contact with him in the beginning of the story. No matter what her personal issues were, it was ridiculous to make such a snap judgment.

This is really 3 1/2* I liked the book well enough once it got off the ground. But for me that wasn't until nearly the end of chapter 9.

4.5* I loved the Kavanaugh clan in this book but felt that whilst necessary for setting the stage on a new series some of the background was a bit longwinded. That said, this was a reread so can't remember what I thought the first time! Still, great characters, good plot and fast read.
What I love about Susan Andersen is that she weaves together love story time lines of different characters. In this book we see a little bit of Poppy. Yeee! I am already excited and am already looking into the book dedicated to Poppy's story.
Other than that aspect, Susan Andersen's books are not spectacular and in this particular book I did get held up and was unable to finish it for awhile. She writes a nice love story but sometimes they loose some steam as they go.

I read almost all of Susan Andersen's books and though I love them all, I have a weak spot for the Sisterhood Diaries series. Susan managed to create characters that make you wish they were real so you could be friends with them :-) .

i love the idea of the mansion being handed down to them and each of them needing to do something with it. add in a little romance and mystery and you've got the perfect romance book !
Throughout the book the story tended to ebb and flow for me. At times the pace was fast then it would slow down a bit, and then pick back up. But for the most part I really enjoyed it. Susan Andersen is an automatic buy for me. I eagerly await each new book as I am almost always thrilled with the results; such was the case with this one.

I grew up in a household with two brothers, a daddy, and my grandfather. Too many men, in other words. They diluted M'ma's influence by diverting my attention to things like the danger of answering nature's call in the dead of the night. I've got a hint for those of you raised in a less spit-and-scratch world: check before you sit, because chances are that seat is gonna be up. And they don't even ...more
