I know I'm dreadfully previous here, but I just finished Christine Feehan's The Twilight Before Christmas - book 2 in her enchanting Drake Sisters series. As you've probably already realized, I am a huge Feehan fan. I have read her entire Dark Carpathian series, and now am captivated by the Drake series.

3.75 or 4.0 stars . Enjoyable, sexy, and somewhat suspenseful. This is the second Freehan book I have read from the Drake Sisters series, set in Sea Haven, California. I was so intrigued by the premise, setting, and characters, and this series gets rave reviews, but I find these books only pleasant -- except for Safe Harbor with Jonah and Hannah. That book was truly tense and suspenseful and moving -- much more than pleasant!

Narrated by Teri Lyn Clark - - The narration grew from 3*s to 4 after a rough start with the female voices sounding like teenage girls at a slumber party instead of mature women.
The Twilight Before Christmas is the second book in Christine Feehan’s Drake Sisters series and the only one, up until now, not available in audiobook format. I have read Abbey's story, Libby's story, and Joley's story, so I thought I should read the others. This one wasn't as intricate and intense as the other ones, but it was a decent Christmas novella about one of the stories. I like Feehan's intense stories, but not all the seven sisters is going to have mad men gunning after them while they are trying to fall in love. I have listened to the others on audio, but think that Kate's story is great too. The only theme that seems to run through most of...more

3 1/2 stars for this one. I absolutely love CF's 'game' series and so was looking forward to the Drake sisters. I read the first one, Magic in the Wind (Drake Sisters, #1), and thoroughly enjoyed it (although I usually dislike short-stories). This one just didn't resonate with me.
What I liked:
I enjoyed the premise of the 7 sisters all have a special gift. I liked both Kate and Matt. I thought CF developed their characters quite nicely. I would have like Matt to have been a little less 'open-boo...more

"Welcome to the world of the Drake sisters, Matt. And Merry Christmas."
I love spending time in the world of the Drake sisters & it's close to Christmas so the perfect time to read this book. I didn't love it as much as I had hoped I would, mostly because Kate was quite bland character wise even though being a book lover and more of an observer I could relate to her. I felt more could have been done with the plot but it was a pleasant story t...more

Velmi jednoduchý, prvoplánovitý a přímočarý příběh, který nenabízí žádné zajímavé zvraty, vedlejší dějové linie, složitější vykreslení postav ani nic jiného, co by mohlo čtenáře zaujmout. Jako by všichni pob...more
The Twilight before Christmas was little better than it's predecessor. No insta-love here, I mean, kind of sort not. Okay, confusing. There was insta-love but it happened in the past so by the time the story happens it's more like a big yearning.

This was the story of Kate Drake and one which I really enjoyed.
Admittedly it is a Christmas book and I did decide for some reason that August would be the best time to read it, go figure right. however I found it didnt matter.
The story was simple and enjoyable, it flowed really well and I really like the character of Kate and Matt and how well they seemed to gel together. I didnt find either character annoying and I enjoyed seeing how they interact with each other as well.

This is book 2 of the Sea Haven series on the Drake Sisters. It was a pretty good offering.

After finding the first book slightly dissapointing, I must admit I was leary of this one. But, I did enjoy the Drake Sisters and the themes of magic and witchcraft, so figured I might as well continue the series. And....I found this book def more enjoyable. I liked finding out more about Kate, the second Drake sister, and thought Matthew was a good match. As w/ the first book, I loved the themes of love, family, and magic. Add to it the backdrop of Christmas, and you have an enjoyable read. Thi...more
This is the second book in the Drake Sister series and it is also a novella. I will say this Ms. Feehan can pack quite a story in a few pages. Again there is a very nice love story. I enjoyed the way that Matt had an open mind and believed in Kate. Kate needed someone like Matt to protect her and take care of her. We also meet Jackson for the first time in this story. There are also the rest of the sisters that didn't show up in the first story and we see more of Jonas. Ms. Feehan also brings in...more
3.5 stars. I enjoyed this instalment of the Drake sisters but there was just something missing that meant it didn't quite hit the spot for me.
It's a sweet and heart warming love story between very likeable characters, but I didn't connect with these two as seamlessly as I had to Sarah and Damon in the first book. I felt at times that the dialogue didn't quite go far enough - things were left unsaid that really needed to be said. Like for example, when Matt finally admits how he has loved Kate fr...more

The Drake sisters, seven of them, share a strong psychic bond and each has a special gift. Kate's gift is the gift of voice and story. She can weave a web of magic for the listeners that will enhance their feelings and help them find happiness and good will.

Here as a ring. Very quick read - started this morning I'm actually in the last chapter now. Incredibly seasonal read here, just that instead of the roaring of the sea it's the roaring of the "foehn" wind here (warm wind from the south that brings a change of weather - maybe more snow) which was the background music to this while I was reading it yesterday. I enjoyed this, but some of the Dark series are much more powerful, I think. If this weren't the second in the series I would assume Feehan...more
I enjoyed the second book in the Drake Sister series almost as much as the first. The only thing that bothered me (just a little) was how Kate kept saying how afraid she was, yet she was very courageous in a number of situations. She seemed just a tad naive about how others saw her. But, Matthew was great, and I loved how his brother Danny would tease him. And there are even more hints about the potential (romantic) fates of more of the sisters as well.

Kate and Matt have always had feelings for each other but have never been able to act on them. Both are too shy. Even though Matt was a Ranger he can never work up the courage to talk to her.

I don't know if it is Christine's writing or how the audiobook was read, but the language in this "feels" like it is written for a young adult... that is until you get to the sex. Frankly, I would be more inclined to give it one more star if the tone was more sophisticated. (Am I the only one that feels this way?) I felt the same way about the first book, but I ignored it because I "wanted" to like the theme.

Ms. Feehan has done a great job in this book of capturing the feeling of Christmastime in a small town, and that mood provides a nice, comforting background to a story that weaves together events from Sea Harbor's past that are now impacting the present. Even as the tension mounts as the attacks from the being in the fog increase, still the characters, Kate in particular, are able to take refuge in the good feelings present at Christmastime and concentrate on them for awhile when they need a bre...more
I actually read this story in
The Wicked and the Wondrous
which contained two stories by Christine Feehan. This is the story of the 2nd Drake sister, Kate. As with all the Drake sisters, she has a supernatural power, although hers seems the least noticeable. She can bring peace to those around her.

Finally I have gotten to read Kate Drake's story. So that leaves me one more Drake sister book to complete (Dangerous Tides--Libby's story). All in all, I found The Twilight Before Christmas to be a great story. I can't give it 5 stars, because it did drag a little in some parts. It's probably a 4.25 star story. I read this story out of The Wicked and the Wondrous duology.

The second installment of the Drake Sisters was in my opinion much better than the first. The storyline was more thought out, though there is clear area for improvement. It's not really a book I would recommend to someone in passing but if I knew they were looking for a Christmas story and was interested in the Romance genre I might pass this along. I like how the stories can be read out of order and not much be given away but I don't think I would enjoy them as much if I didn't read them sequen...more
