Our girls love the A to Z Mysteries and we are a little sad that we only have two books to go. They are fun stories, though a bit contrived at times. This is an interesting story, filled with some intrigue, a burglary, and excitement, but it wasn't our favorite. Our girls really enjoy the main characters, Dink, Josh and Ruth Rose, and we will miss them when we finish the series.
Reason for Reading: As every year, I am participating in the AtoZ Challenge. For the first time, this year I only have the X's left and I will have completed it so I decided to actively search out books. My niece did a little research and came up with this title for me. I had heard of the series before.

Realistic Fiction, mystery. Published in 2005 for grades K-4. In this A to Z mystery book, a diamond penguin pendant is stolen from Penelope Gwinn, a rock star. At the same time Dink falls off the carousel and hurts his arm. This book is really awesome. It is about Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose ,who are having an excellent time at the Penelope Gwinn concert. During intermission, Dink injures his arm and at the same time, the singer's diamond necklace is stolen. It was very mysterious. The thing I really like is , how the 3 kids solve the mystery. The criminal was obvious, but the book was really tricky, and made me think of other people are the thieves.I recommend it to everyone.
If you like mysteries I think you would really like it. In this mystery somebody stole Penelopes diamond penguin necklace. But the kids thought it was the hot dog guy or the person who sat in front of dink. But it was the doctor! They spotted the penguin on thexray . The doctor put it in Dinks cast and thought it would be safe... But it wasn't. The police went to his house and showed him the xray.
I think Ron Roy is an amazing writer. This was not one of his greatest books but it was still a nice read. Its about Dink "breaking" his arm when they go to a concert. Mysteriously at the time where Dink was getting he arm raped up the singer lost her pricless neacklace. You'll have to read to find out what happens
when dink fell of the merry go round and sprains his arm also at thatyime penelope gwinns penguin neckless is stolen at that same time. dr.fleming is not the real dr.fleming stels the neckless and hides it in his cast. at the end penelpe gets her neckless back
The fake doctor puts the stolen necklace in Dink's cast and told him to come back to him later. They capture him and the necklace was given back to the rightful owner and Dink's elbow is fine. I recommend this book to those that love mysteries.
A fun little mystery for kids, where the thief is the one not suspected until the last minute. The kid-detectives use realistic methods to get clues, and are able to catch the culprit with the help of their policeman-friend.

Ah, yes....I do enjoy the A to Z mysteries...and I'm not a mystery person. This book started out great--a concert, three kids, everyone dressed up in costume--and ended up a real puzzler that could not be solved until the ending.
A cute little mystery for 2nd/3rd graders. The series would be an excellent introduction to the mystery genre for that age.
