""'Berlin, Bromley" is fascinating, strangely poetic and compelling."--Michael Bracewell, "The Guardian"

Bertie Marshall's memoir as "Berlin" in the notorious Bromley Contingent cuts to the core of the punk sensibility of 1976/77. Combining the outrageous zeitgeist with the lifestyle of scenester and rent boy, Marshall's account bristles with a raw freshness and honesty.

Berlin Bromley

Siouxie Sioux, The Sex Pistols, Adam and the Ants, …

Berlin begegnet Bowie zu Beginn d

It seems like a different world now. Back in the seventies if you asked a random sample of the British public the question " Can you name a famous homosexual?" the majority would probably have replied Oscar Wilde. Bertie Marshall was one of the few who dared to be different and flaunt it. He seems to have some sort of problem with Philip Sallon, don't know why, I have always found him to be one of the more interesting people in clubland.

Bio of a former member of the Bromley Contingent, a gang of teenagers known for following the Sex Pistols from gig to gig, and for being high-profile, very photogenic club kids. Interesting insight into the dark side of punk life (and street life) from someone who was never "famous" famous, and so, has no agenda.
