Although this book is like many other diet books, I thought it was good, the foods are all yummy, olives, avocado, chocolate, and more!

I also did the 4 day anti-bloat diet and lost 6 lbs and a total of 4.5, now I am on the 1600 cal a day plan 4 xs a day, 400 cal a meal, eat every 4-5 hours, and have a MUFA at every meal, piece of cake. I will update my review after 28 days and let you know the status!

I learned that this book is basically a Mediteranian diet which includes the good oils (olive, avacado, seeds, etc.) and very little meat, hardly anything processed, lots of plant foods rich in color. The diet starts out with a 4 day quick start program that promises to rid your body of excess water and gas that cause bloating. I have just completed the 4 days and I learned a few things about food and how important it is to eat every 4 hours. You don't need to buy to book to get this 4 day qu...more

Great information in this book. It's a lifestyle more than a diet. The gyst is that you eat healthy and regularly and moderately (400 calories a meal, 4 times a day) and add a monounsaturated fat to each meal. These are the good fats and they target your subcutaneous fat, otherwise known as your stomach flab. I like it because it's not a diet about what you can't eat. I'm already firmly in the eat moderately and healthy and exercise camp - no fad diets, you don't need to eliminate food grou...more

If you need structure to eat a healthy, balanced diet and lose weight than I would recommend The Flat Belly Diet. The main focus of the diet is eating a measured portion of food that contains monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) at every meal. The first four days are a very restrictive anti-bloat plan followed by 28 days of three 400-calorie meals and one 400-calorie snack pack to be eaten as and when you like.

The book is full of pages about studies that prove why MUFAs are healthy...more

Makes sense--let's see if I can stick to it. Definitely worth it to help ward off heart disease, diabetes, demensia.

The irony of me reading this around the holidays, when I am eating about 4 times my weight in food, is not lost on me. And diet books start looking all the same (and I think I pretty much know all that I need to about how the body works and how it burns calories!) However, this focuses on ways to lose belly weight specifically, and it had some interesting notes. Most interestingly, it explains you need to eat Monounsaturated Fatty Acids (MUFAs) at every meal: healthy oils, dark chocolate, nut...more

I love to roadtest diets books. I swear to god this diet works, but of course you eat minimal calories and guess what you lose weight! You see abs! The downside, as with any diet, are no eating out (mainly b.c you dont want to go over the alotted 400 calorie per meal quota, no recipes that do not involve a piece of frozen mock meat, and The takeaway from this is that:

concept 1: MUFA (the pseudoscientific buzzword on which the diet is based) monounsaturated fatty acids, are very impo...more

A MUFA at Every Meal
Okay, I received this book as a birthday present yesterday and, not knowing exactly how to take it, I simply opened the book and started reading. I was at once comforted by the author's recognition of the love-hate relationships many of us have with this part of our anatomy, and her outreach to "embrace" my belly. Yes, this is another diet book, but it caters to an area that is particularly sensitive to women. NO MORE MUFFIN TOPS over the jeans may be a goal o...more

When I am ready to get serious about dieting, this will probably be the diet I follow. It's heart-healthy, well balanced in terms of types of food, and also in terms of life, including dieting, exercising, and mental health (emotional eating). I just skimmed the book and returned it to the library where there were holds, but it would be good to own your own copy so that you could use it to keep a food journal.

This is the latest diet book featured on a talk show. The premise is that you can lose weight with out exercise. Of course you can. If you only eat 1200 calories a day, which is what this books says. They encourage the addition of special types of fats, MUFA's for short, that are found in nuts, and certain oils. Olives are one food that they suggest you eat, but a serving is 10 large olives. Not the way to go if you need to watch your salt intake! You need to eat one MUFA/meal/day, and the...more

My daughter and I went on this program together. I stuck with it religiously for the 4 day detox/debloating phase. Then, I gave it up. My daughter has stuck with it for the last 3-4 weeks, even though she said she hasn't lost any weight. I commend her for that.

Another diet book...really? REALLY? ANOTHER DIET BOOK???? Yes. *Sigh* Yes.

Eat oils, eat nuts, drink smoothies, don't eat anything, eat until you're full, don't eat too much, eat chocolate, look at pictures of portion sizes, sniff McDonalds, drink water, eat six times a day, no bread, no sugar, no wheat, no milk...diets suck no matter which one you're on. But I knew that.

I couldn't find this book in the search at first, because I was looking for Fat Belly Diet which is apparently what I've been on. This is great reading while munching on Happy Camper's Mix from the Campfire girls (ok, I added the Happy.)
