I know the point of these books are to limit the number of words used so that new readers can do it. But this story just doesn't work with a limited vocabulary. It was totally vague and confusing, and didn't do the story justice at all. The only reason Frank could even figure it out was that we have read other (much better) versions of this story.
Margaret Hillert has written over 80 books for children who are just learning to read. Her books have been translated into many languages and have helped children throughout the world learn to read.
