3 1/2 Stars ~ It's Christmas Eve and while Holly watches her boss, duly clad as Santa, take on his knee a small girl of about four; she's reminded of the fear she'd felt at three when her mother had abandoned her as she sat, like this child, on Santa's knee. Glancing across the room, Connor wonders what has made his PA suddenly go so pale, and as the child on his knee begins to squirm in fear, he comforts the child and points to her smiling parents. To me this novel seemed so long, it nearly drove me mad! I couldn't understand how the heroine could just willingly sign over rights to her unborn child, it really ticked me off. She was and is perfectly capable of taking care of this baby and yet she made excuses, lame ones at that. Not to mention the hero, he had to have some serious mental issues from his ex wife to act the way he did. Both of these people needed a darn good therapist, it could of saved them a lot of trouble!
Very disappointed! Holly requires a lot of therapy and swift kick in the ass. Connor may have a bit of an ass but I don't anyone who wouldn't distance themselves from someone who does what Holly did. The woman is a block of ice almost the entire book and suddenly we are suppose to believe she's loveable in two pages. Always an avid reader, I was introduced to the joy of reading romance at the age of 13 by an elderly neighbour. Each week I’d visit her and we'd sort through bags and boxes of books - she didn’t know it then but she’d unleashed a monster! A wannabe romance writer monster. At the age of 15 and totally inspired by the books I'd read, I tried my hand at my first romance novel (an abysmal attempt whic ...more
