I love the idea and the look of this book. It's very attractive and compelling; the eye wants to take in each picture individually as well as the look of each spread and concept. I don't know whether all the words were really in my baby's first 100 vocabulary, which makes me a bit uncomfortable in terms of how, like, prescriptive the book is being in terms of normatizing certain experiences. But this could just be me. Yesterday I received a free trial offer to a women's magazine, and all I could

This is a pretty good book but some of the pictures are not easily recognizable to kids. The slippers look like shoes and the duck has a rainbow pattern on its back. A rubber duck is usually yellow so I am not sure why they chose the items they did. The television and high chair are both super outdated. The book was published in 2005 so I am not sure why they have such outdated pictures. It may be time for republishing.

One of the few books that Leo will actively seek out and pull off the bookshelf to look at. Each page has 16 nice, colorful photos of familiar items - am hoping will be a good way to teach some words. Some of the photos are a bit dated, though - e.g., TV, computer, etc. look nothing like our current gadgetry.

I liked how colorful this book was and that it used photographs. I also liked how the words were categorized, rather than being alphabetical or something. Like another reviewer said, this would be an awesome book for pointing and naming. And, the picture of the kitten was super cute :)
I didn't love the selection of words though. With only 100 words, I was surprised that three sets of words were all animals. There were a few others I wouldn't choose as well, like "motorcycle More...

My toddler loves this - has for about a year now. I like it because I don't have to read it all the way through: he can page through at his own pace and tell me about any of the photos that strike his fancy.

Lilly got this book for her 1st birthday and it has been an almost daily read since. It has several pictures of shoes, kitties, and babies, which are her 3 favorite things :)

Clare is funny with this book. She knows the shoes and socks very well. She'll say "shoooo" and "soooosss." And then she "moo's" at the cow picture.

This book is so good that we've read it several times already. I'm thinking we might have to buy this one...a very good read indeed!!

Shao Gugu and GuJon gave you this book when you were born. It was one of Corban's favorites too when he was little.

One of your favorites! We look at this book every night and you point to the cat and say "kitty".

My friend gave us this book because it was a big hit with her daughter. My son loves to go through the book and have us name the items in the book. It's been great for him to practice pointing to and labeling pictures.

I like how the pictures and words are associated with what babies and young children see everyday. What a great book to have children practice reading words for things they see often!

Not as big a favorite as First 100 Animals, but I also got this one when he was 2 and the other was a gift for his 1st birthday.
