"Everett held her tightly, aware of the violent beating of his heart. He felt as if he was falling—freefalling through 15,000 feet—without a parachute. It was exciting, thrilling—and deadly. He’d brought Kate up here to protect her, to keep her out of trouble. He’d told himself he owed that much to Keith. Now all he wanted to do was take her down into the cabin and ravage ...more

Tension, Suspense, Crime, and Mystery

The author has a knack for creating tension and suspense, not just to move the plot along, but to develop heated relationships between each of the characters as well.

The setting for "Free Fall" is a family run general aviation business. Rae knows the business and did a great job with the passages about flying and fixing small planes. Her main character, Kate Reynolds along with her brother Keith's Army buddy Everett Larson, are thrust together when Keith's p

Well of course, I'm going to give it 5 stars, I'm the author! But what do you think? I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I loved writing it! Freefall takes place in Wisconsin's Kettle Moraine Forest and in Door County,Wisconsin, one of my favorite places to vacation; but don't let the idyllic setting fool you. Freefall has plenty of sensual romance and intrigue! You can read more about me and my books and follow my blog at

The book opens with “the pilot” taking off and soon realising that there’s something not right with his plane. He’s faced with the choice of attempting to right the problem by continuing with his flight – and thus potentially endangering citizens – or returning to the runway in what can only be a crash landing. Following the pilots’ code of ethics, he chooses to put only himself at risk rather than innocent people who just happen to live close by the airport.

Well, I was proven wrong again. I began this book with the idea that it would not be a big deal, and I may just only like it minimally. The story was good enough, but it wasn't going to be anything truly spectacular. Please notice that I write all that in the past tense. Why? Read on!

This was a fantastic mystery with so many twists and turns that I honestly lost count! I thought I might have it figured out, and just about that time, the author threw in another shocker. I was glad to discover tha

Free Fall is a suspensful, mystery romance where Kate's brother is in a coma after surviving a plane accident...or was it murder. The author, Susan Rae pens the story with well written plot with good character development. I found it to be an entertaining story that all romance mystery/suspense fans will like.

Her brother’s plane crash throws Kate’s life back into chaos. When she learns her brother needs her, Kate braves her fear of flying and immediately heads out to Wisconsin to be at his be
Freefall by Susan Rae is a contemporary romance novel with a good storyline, great characters and a mysterious accident that might not be an accident at all.

Kate Reynolds gets the message that her brother Keith was in a plane accident and rushes to his bedside. Her world turns upside down when she hears that he is in a coma and the doctors are not sure how long this is going to be. Then she discovers her brother has a fiancée she never heard about and strange things are happening at Keith’s busi

3.5 stars. What caused the plane crash that leaves Kate Reynolds' brother Keith in a coma? Was it an accident? Or was it sabotage? Find out in freefall, an intriguing mystery by author Susan Rae.

freefall is an interesting mystery with a bit of a romantic angle. While helping keep her brother's business running while Keith is in a coma, Kate Reynolds discovers a few inconsistencies in his business and personal life. Equally suspicious of the cause of the accident, ex army buddy Everett Larsen is

I felt this book had a rough start just with the way that it was bringing things together. However, the story immediately took off and I was hooked. I chose to read this book because I love a good romantic suspense. This book had both the suspense and romance. I definitely could compare this to a Sandra Brown type book.

After the story took off, this book was a page turner and did not let me down. I also loved that the story continued to the end and that there wasn’t any extra “filler” at the en
Okay I admit the title of this book said “Read Me” when I looked at it. I don’t know why but it just kept nagging me. I was a little slow in starting this book. After I read the first chapter I wonder what took me so long to start.

Kate is a very likeable character. She is super with computers and has her own consulting business. She is divorced from an officer of the law and just trying to live her life.

Everett comes off as a tough guy, someone that might give you the impression that his actual

I need the ability to add 1/2 a star as I would say it was a 3.5 but not high enough for the 4th star. Also before I begin my review I must warn that this book should be read by mature audience as some of the scenes described can get very steamy.

I found the characters to be very well defined and unique in each their own way. Some characters would even surprise you. The bad guy isn't hard to figure out but that doesn't stop you from reading the rest of the story as you want to throw both Kate an

This was a mystery romance read and I truthfully enjoyed the book very much. Character development was spot on as was the pace of the writing and action. I pretty much had the villain picked out before the halfway mark, but there were other characters who threw in a surprise of their own along the way. Somewhat typical of romance novels, I wanted to shake some sense into Kate Reynolds and Everett Larson for not being honest with each other and keeping pertinent information to themselves. That ...more

This book was good, even though I found it very predictable. I always enjoy that Susan's books are placed in the midwest and the areas are familiar to me. I look forward to Susan's next book :)

I write because I can't resist the challenge of taking the intriguing characters and storylines that pop into my head and fleshing them out into compelling manuscripts. I wrote my first melodrama in fifth grade for a Girl Scout Drama badge, not so different really than a romantic suspense novel. My love of characters lead me to pursue theater in college, and then brought me back around to creative ...more
